Think once he's toughened up a little bit he will be an asset.

Some of his passing has been amazing (The ball to Simms against Plymouth I think it was!!)

It was his physicality and sharpness in some games that let him down but the pre-season will help with that.

Agree... his goal against Utd is exactly the type of goals we need to add from midfield.

I’m looking at him still like a new signing in some respects and I’m excited to see if he can produce consistently. He’s definitely got unique qualities and a style of play that is different to others in his position

He's a good player decent close control and a good passer of the ball,as others say he'll be better in a more forward position, I recall Adi Viveash saying he's really an eight.

He’s shown some real glimpses of quality on the ball and shown he could be a real asset. Needs to develop the physical side of his game and with a good run in the team and a preseason under his belt, he should smash it.

This season was a bit stop:start. He comes in at the start of his Norwegian preseason, Sheaf gets injured so he’s thrust into the team ahead of schedule then struggled to stay fit from there on in.

Yeah, looking forward him this coming season. I think he'll turn out to be a great player. I think he's going to have to earn his spot (as obvious as that is) though. If we've got Simms, Wright, Sakamoto, EMC, Sheaf, Eccles and hopefully Stamenic, at least one of those will need to sit out.

I genuinely think he looks better than Hamer when he first played for us. Considering he came to us off the back of a full season in Norway as well, I think he'll be one of our most important players this season

Exactly this!

He's looked very good in parts, and a bit off the pace in others. As you say, with a full pre-season under his belt he could really impress.

With Torp, EMC and Sakamoto back in the squad we are starting to look a bit tasty.

If we can add 2 or 3 more quality players we're ready for a real promotion push.

I think giving him slightly less defensive responsibility ie with Sheaf and Stamenic and having a little bit more free reign I think he'll be a very good player for us. Already showed glimpses of what he can do.

The key to opening his potential is giving him the freedom to use his his creativity with less emphasis on the defensive side of his game. This is perfectly achievable with 2 quality DM ' s alongside him. Torp has undoubted ability and I have every confidence that MR & Adi will make the most of this and that he will be one of the best players in the Championship next season.

When he had his shocker at Birmingham, and he was not alone, my first thought was get a pre-season in him and take it from there.

Then a week later he turns up at Wembley.

I have an extremely positive outlook for him next season.

I like him a lot. On top of his shooting ability he seems very able to receive the ball in tight areas, under pressure and find a telling pass. I can remember two or three very sneaky balls which cut right through the opposition defences high up the pitch.

He will need defensive cover as most others have said. I wonder if his apparent weakness in this area is why he was knocking about in Norway without being picked up before we did. But overall very positive about him.

I have been impressed with him on the ball and although he is not the quickest he looks good in tight situations.

For me the worry is when we are out of possession. Positionally he seems a bit naive and the game can bypass him.

I think he can become a very good player, but what might prevent him becoming really top level is; he seems short on pace.

Got to say that while he has a sprinkling of speed in the team, I’ve always had the impression that pace is fairly low down Robins’ list of priorities. He hardly ever mentions it (a notable exception is Simms - who I don’t think is especially fast).

Yeah, I think he could do a great job almost between a usual 8 and 10. Providing a bit more midfield cover than a palmer or ohare but hopefully as much as a goal/assist threat. It’s why I’m not fussed about us looking for a direct replacement for ohare as I don’t think it will quite fit our likely formation and Torp could end up being a very good player in that advanced midfield role. He certainly has all the attributes

Seemed to thrive in that FA cup semi and offer more legs, and played on the edge. He really came into his own in such a huge game when we were in the ascendency . The volley as well was just sublime. Expecting him to replace Eccles this season, feel like he has just that bit more in his locker technically in getting us up the pitch and picking a better pass.

I would say EMC is powerful rather than fast.

Torp will be fine once he gets used to having less time on the ball. Pre season is key. I think he'll be a real asset.

There were a couple of times where he looked to be searching for a pass and he dwelled a bit and had to turn back and shield the ball from a press, nearly got caught out a couple of times if I remember right. But I think that is easily coached out of him and he will get more used to his teammates runs and positioning.

Not many of our squad have the vision to pull off that pass VS Plymouth or the technique to take on that shot VS Sheffield Wednesday. I think he could be a real gem. Naturally looked a little off the pace of the Championship which is understandable joining mid season.

And DaSilva and Sakamoto. Like I said, there’s always been a sprinkling. But Robins seems to value other attributes more highly and doesn’t often talk about pace when discussing players’ strengths

Hamer wasn't that quick either. But what he could do is bring the ball to a standstill, knock it out of his feet and was quick over three or four strides, then his pace levelled out. But sometimes that initial burst was enough of an advantage.

Simms is the opposite, his first two or three strides are slow but picks up pace once he gets into his stride. He is also very strong in possession.

Simms other strong attribute is getting into the right space in the penalty area. If anything breaks he is usually the first to react and is a good first time finisher. A couple of goals last season looked like tap ins, but they really weren't. It was really good positional play backed up with quick reactions.

It’s that strength you mention combined with reasonable speed that gives him a real edge. Looking forward to seeing more of it again next season.

Even though Man U aren't the force they were under Sir Alex they're still a top 6 premier league side and I remember watching Torp in the semi final thinking he'd comfortably sit in their team.

What I really like about Simms is he really occupies defenders and pulls them around all over the place. We haven't had that type of forward for a long time.

Even when he was off the pace early on, we looked more likely to get goals when he came on than when he was off the pitch. He has that ability to open things up for others.
