Great post Gren, See i do give credit where it is due. And trust me i don't normally read your post with hope of agreeing.

I don't doubt for 1 minute that he could charm a few with his down to earth chat, but his record has been terrible and no way should he get away with covering it over with i worked hard or i was committed. That should be a given, fans have been treated so badly by previous directors that him being approachable is masking what most should be asking, was he good for the club? and did he do a good job?. In my opinion he wasn't and the only progress has been made since he was told to take a back seat.

Lastly, if he was such a good guy and cared for the fans feelings he would of walked the first time Sixfields was mentioned, instead he tried to appease and went along with the whole mess until it became unattainable to carry on. So i am happy he has gone and cant wait for Fisher to follow then we may see an upturn in gates to match a club that wants to go forward on and off the field.

Let's face it, after Ranson who never spoke, Onye, Orange Ken, Fisher and Labovich it would have been hard for anyone not to be an improvement!

That said since he's not been involved in the playing side its improved massively and if he's supposed to be in charge of things like ticketing we all know how shambolic that is.

You are almost certainly correct, but as usual supporters are kept in the dark.

I think the immediate most regrettable consequence is that we now have (only) one director and he, in my opinion, has never demonstrated the necessary capability.

From my perspective Waggott was just another one on the Sisu payroll who ultimately beat the Sisu drum.

He did, I suppose, become the acceptable face of Sisu in many fans’ eyes – or should that be the acceptable voice of Sisu. He had a more down to earth appeal than someone with Fishers privileged background.

Ultimately, however, his achievements are few and far between. His first big test was with deciding on Thorn’s fate when in the championship. He made the wrong choice and kept with the clueless individual. Then, even worse, after Thorns car crash management style he offers him a new deal, only to wake up a few weeks in and dismiss him, at a cost no doubt, that should have been avoided. No plan to replace him meant dithering and the crucial first season in League One was wrecked before it had even started. For this action alone, he should have lost his job.

The impression you get with Waggott is that he always wanted to be a manager and was far more comfortable operating with the likes of Thorn and Pressley than a Robins and certainly a Mowbray. He could sign hapless tripe like Malaga, Edjuingele, Brown all day long. He must have cost the club a fortune in cancelled contracts. He was an abject failure in the role he was supposed to be paid for.

His “credit” for the Ricoh deal also should be scrutinised. It is inconceivable that Sisu and the council were not already aware of the Wasps involvement. That deal meant the club no longer had to deal with the council and is the only reason the parties talked. It is also inconceivable that the arrangement was not going to have the approval of the incoming landlord. So Waggott was again the public face behind the deal. It should also be noted he was more than complicit with the move to Sixfields , and always publically played the company line. As he always did.

One suspect’s the appointment of Mowbray exposed his shortcoming and led to his demise. Mowbray, under a similar budget to his predecessor, changed the structure and built a winning team. His comments regarding the lack of structure when he arrived were particularly damning and telling.

Waggott was wasteful with his budget, poor at player recruitment and dire at understanding the infrastructure required to build a successful club.

He may have plaudits from those who fail to see the wood from the trees. He may to some be a football visionary – the saviour of English football. After all it says so in a press article;

Yup, never understood the need for NOPM when the club so often implement such a policy themselves!

Thing is though Northern the club have been offered help on numerous occasions and still are. Hasn't Nick offered solutions to computer/server problems or am I mistaken? We sold tickets to the charity game if they haven't got enough people to hand out tickets etc I would be prepared to do it as would others. But and this is a big but they would rather something went tits up than ask.

The only thing I would add is that I don't think financially the owners had much choice but to bring CCFC back to the Ricoh. They clearly were not prepared to put more money in then or on going and the only way to get CCFC meaningful cash flow was to get the attendances available at the Arena. So the return was in my mind inevitable and it was just a matter of the small print. Even then I suspect SW had to get clearance from above on every line of small print

They clearly were not prepared to put more money in then or on going and the only way to get CCFC meaningful cash flow was to get the attendances available at the Arena. So the return was in my mind inevitable and it was just a matter of the small print.
