Really liked Kane when he first joined but he hasn't had one decent performance since Christmas. Wouldn't be heartbroken to see him moved on.

That's a fair comment. I've been underwhelmed watching him for a while. Sadly I am not sure Dabo is the answer either though. His stats on assists and goals are extremely low, with certainly the former being an important aspect of a wingback role.

The RWB position does need an overhaul, as much as I like Dabo. The number of games he’s missed in the last two seasons is an issue.
Additionally, the LWB position is a concern. Bidwell will hopefully get up to speed in how we play.

Lots of people saying we should have known Kanes personality before we signed him. I would argue he has done the role Robins wanted. Filled in for a season on a free while Dabo has been injured. If we can get him off the wage bill and improve then great

What’s happened to Kane’s crossing?! In his first couple of games I thought we’d signed Beckham’s better younger brother. I’d say something like 1 in 10 now doesn’t hit the first man or sail over the crossbar.

I agree. Despite not being his usual position, I think Josh Eccles looks more accomplished as a wing back. It's a shame Jack Burroughs didn't get more game time at Ross County too as he looked as though he could be cover for that position too.

Also agree. I genuinely think that, assuming he remains injury free, Eccles is going to be a star. He was outstanding at RWB and can’t wait to see him grow into that CM position.
Burroughs looked decent too. I thought he might be pushing for a place this season.
Not sure what has gone wrong for Kane…maybe it just went right for him in those first couple of games.
Having said that, I don’t think Kane’s awful, just not as good as we’d all thought he might be.

That happened to Darren Currie. Saw his debut and he was like that… next game he looked like a pub player and that was as good as it got

Despite reservations regarding his character the signing made sense at the time. We were incredibly light on support in that position and signing a player with around 150 Championship appearances seemed on paper like a good move - especially as all the club had to do was take over his contract.

At least we only put him on a 2 year contract. With only a year remaining I can't imagine he'll be overly difficult to move on in the summer if that's what the club is looking to do.

My only concern is, is he's yet another where we may have to shoulder a portion of his wages in order to facilitate a move.

It’s not overly encouraging if we’re looking to bin off Waghorn and Kane already. We made 6 first team signings last summer, 2 were Gyokeres and Sheaf who we’d already had on loan so of the 4 players to come in who weren’t here last season, 2 are getting binned off after a year, 1 was binned off after a few months and the other is Moore.

Add in binning off Walker after a big investment in him two years ago and it’s not great.

Sounds like he’s a real part of the plans if he can stay fit

“You can see why I started him,” said the City boss, speaking about Saturday’s match at the Bet365 Stadium. “It was a brilliant half an hour from him but he got injured and he’s been injured too often, and that’s something we have to look at.

“If he can stay fit and get ready for pre-season... I don’t know how long he’s going to be out yet. He may miss a couple of weeks of pre-season depending on how bad this is. It’s a hamstring injury so we have to see what they say once he’s had his scan. But hopefully we’ll get him back because he’s a real talent who can play in several positions.

“He’s a midfield player as you know, but he’s really performing to a high level at wing-back.”

He doesn’t seem to have the pace or trickery to beat many defenders at this level so just seems to aim to deflect it off the defender to win a throw in or corner. That’s perfectly reasonable to do sometimes but it feels like it’s every cross he attempts now.

Yeah he regularly crosses deep to compensate for his lack of pace or ability to take players on.

As a WB he's incredibly easy to figure out.

Particularly poor from corners on Saturday, I don't remember one cross that made it past the near post.

It really infuriates me that Kane takes set pieces whenever he plays. Towards the end of the season we scored a fair few goals from Hamers set pieces... yet as soon as Kane was back in the side he was taking a fair few with Gus on the edge of the area, and we didnt look anywhere near as threatening.

Have never like the bloke, despite the initial love-in from quite a few fans early on, will be happy if he goes... one thing I will say though.... despite not being a fan, I still trusted him more than Da Costa

@Skybluebeliever have you heard any names of incoming yet? Not asking you to divulge but just interested if the players know who’s coming in?
I think we could get a couple of loans from premiership clubs for a defender and a striker, they have played in the championship and the attacking midfielder could have Chelsea links . There is a lot of time to go though and things are changing all the time

I hear we've been trying to offload Da Costa
That will be easier said than done

Remember back in Jan you said that Robins had a target he wanted which we didn't get. Might be completely wrong but thought at the time it was probably Cameron Archer or Anjorin from Chelsea. Could see Gerrard sending Archer back to Preston under Ryan Lowe. Anjorin has barely featured for Huddersfield so would make sense for Chelsea to send him here considering the development of JCS and Maatsen.

To be fair, according to the stats on whoscored, he completed 3 of his 6 cross on Saturday. Maatsen completed 1 of 6.

Hamer told supporters on Saturday 5hat he's staying.
I appreciate that can be taken with a pinch of salt

It's a long summer and anything can happen.

I certainly believe that he wants to stay, but in equal stead we have no idea who will or won't come in for him over the course of the window so such comments are pretty futile in many respects.
