Championship:
Walker - 287 mins per goal
Godden - 172 mins per goal

League one:
Walker - 204 mins per goal
Godden - 175 mins per goal.

Godden is the better goalscorer by some distance.

I don't care after all .. walker isn't here because his workrate and attitude don't fit .. and it also doesn't fit at pompey ..

So is it coventry that need to change or Tyler walker ?

I'd suggest the latter
It's more because to make sufficient headroom in the budget he was really the only player that could go out that anybody would take

Well, penalties shouldn't be included really & it should be done based on minutes or per 90 if you really want to compare like for like.

It's absolutely clear.

Godden is also a far better all round player. The real problem is that Walker can't hold the ball up or pass it effectively. Unless he addresses those deficiencies he won't make it at Championship level. The only thing he has that Godden doesn't is pace, but to date he has made very little use of that with us.

Well no, Shipley was due to leave for a fee and because he scored against QPR we kept him. Then went back to deciding he wasn’t up to it.

Wonder if the amount of penalties that Gary McAllister scored makes him less of a classy player. Even though he’s a midfielder. The “penalties don’t count” thing is bullshit.
I mean it really does matter when you are comparing 2 strikers. Why wouldn’t you discount penalty goals when one takes penalties and the other doesnt.

It’s like comparing Kane’s output to dabo. Kane’s output looked significantly better when he was taking set pieces.

Do you think ray Stewart who scored 80 plus goals for West Ham in 400 games was a prolific goal scorer?

My god you're an idiot.

Robins wanted to sign Walker ahead of Godden and then signed him anyway when the chance came for a higher fee.

Poor judgement in your view?

What are your thoughts on James Bidgen who played for West Ham between 1901 and 1904? Because I'm sure he's very relevant to the Godden v Walker debate.

oh dear

I don't think anyone is saying they "don't count" but if you want to make a genuine like for like comparison it is best practice to omit them. One player having significantly more free shots at goal with an almost 80% probability of scoring will naturally skew the numbers.
By all means look at their penalty records separately

Very poor judgement, MR has a great track record, but Walker is one he got wrong, and it hasn't helped that Walker is a fucking lazy c**t.

The fact that Godden is more trusted to hit the back of the net from 12 yards out shouldn't be used against him.

To be fair Walker seemed a sensible signing. He was young and proven at L1/L2 level and a fair amount of experience at Champ level. There was every chance he developed and became a more valuable and valued asset.

In that respect he ticked all the boxes.

For whatever reason, it’s not been a good move for either party.

We took a calculated risk.

Other signings have been “bad judgement” IMO. Waghorn at 31 and no other big striker in the club: bad judgement. Several European players who we don’t seem to have looked at properly: bad judgement.

I thought at the time that Walker was the right signing but for one reason or another he just didn’t do enough. I think covid and the long term effects of that might have played a big part in why he has gone backwards this season. Can’t really see anyone wanting him next season.
