Burge cost us today but what about recent weeks ? He’s saved us many a time with great saves keepers make mistakes shit happens why don’t Clive ask why he’s wasted the budget on shit signings ?
I have praised him this season. But why do some refuse to call him out for his mistakes is what I want to know?!!!

Robin's good interview. Allows me to move on with my weekend.

I've been a big critic of Burge in the past, pull up my rants from Exeter away last year if you want proof, but he's been excellent this season. Yes he should be criticised for an idiotic mistake but it doesn't make him a bad keeper, the fact that it's happening much less now shows his improvement. He also pulled off a save he had no right to make a couple of minutes before his mistake. He's earned us far more points that he's cost us this year.

Or the good work done in Oct and Nov has given us a good base to use in our attempt to stay up.

It’s only a game etc

This is accurate. The likes of paxman saying we should be pushing for promotion and most other teams are poor is laughable.

We don’t score goals, we don’t keep clean sheets and our best player is likely to go back at the end of this month.

And 6 or 7 games ago the same team was the DBs & Mark Robins had Demigod status!

And as I said on another thread a few weeks back - we ain't half way through the season yet & are still nowhere near safe yet!

And just throwing it out there...Oldham were relegated with 58 points.

Fuck off back to the EU thread

I agree, looked lively, Robins seems to have realised he's not a target man and can cause problems with the ball at his feet.

Yeah was much better doing that and not chasing shadows. He brought other players into play and played some nice passes.

100 times more effective than Chaplin has been in that position.

Nearly 100 pages we spent on then Conor

I dunno what he says at half time but our seconds half performances have been terrible said at the start of the season I’ll tske staying up this season
You were on the Chaplin thread going on about him being better than McNulty at one point

Robins is in incapable of making a proactive change. It’s always just like for like and hope something happens or if we’re winning with 15 minutes to go then he goes as defensive as possible.
Zzz this has been proven incorrect time and time again you mong. Same old posters and the same old shite, more depressing than the defeat itself

Yeah, can't argue at that. Certainly better than Chaplin and JCH in recent weeks.

I think he deserves to start the next game, no idea who with though. Chaplin just wasn't on the same wavelength at all.

Just before half time he put a nice header in behind for Chaplin and he was far too slow to react, would have been a tap in if he had been switched on to it.

JCH is the greater of two evils here. Both errors cost goals and in black and white Burge obviously looks worse. But if Jonson puts the ball in the net the game is dead and buried.

JCH and Bakayoko for me.

The thing is with that, Bakayoko gets the ball at his feet and looks to bring others into play. Put some nice passes in behind today but I can't see JCH as the sort of player that would read them and stick them in the net.

JCH has no football brain.

There's a decent player there somewhere, but he lacks that composure both on the ball and in front of goal.

Biamou has been a big miss.

I reckon swap Chaplin for Hiwula today and he would have played better.

See how close that was Clint?? And you say that's a big a mistake a aburges hahahaha

Robin's just said himself horrendous decision making from burge

I said it was horrendous from Burge as well.
But up until today he's been one of our best players.
And it was an horrendous miss. Not his first.

Agrred he seems better when he doesn't have too much time to think on it.
Muscular and awkward for defenders but not good enough in air or at finishing it seems. If he was good at either one of those it would be easier to pick a strike partner for him.

Not seen Burge's error yet, but every keeper makes mistakes even world class ones.

Burge has been right up there for player of the season so far, so its completely over the top for anyone to suggest we need a new keeper.

Our forward line is far more the concern. We simply dont score enough goals, especially at key times.

We missed 2 clear cut chances, you cannot pin this loss on Burge at all. We score either chance, we win the game, simple as that. The problem isn’t Burge’s mistake, it’s killing off games when we’re creating chances from a winning position. Too many clear cut chances have been missed this season.

He’s just a scapegoat for the loss. He made a mistake, happens to the very best, like De Gea this week v Arsenal messing up a simple catch as well as at the World Cup. Yet he’s not a bad goalkeeper overnight. A fair few people have been waiting for a Burge mistake so they can vent at him. But, he’s made far more important saves that have kept us in games; Sunderland, P’boro, Stanley just to name a few. Certainly been a top performer this season.

While not all his fault, it was the third time be had been caught going for a random walk. One had cost him a booking.

Looking at the two chances they were hardly sitters.

Everyone is focussing on the fact that we miss chances - which we do - but given we supposedly have the best keeper in the league, a great centre half pairing and a future England right back we have only kept 4 clean sheets all season

That doesn’t compute

Thomas was a sitter. Jch and Shipley had a lot more to do
