Well said. Why not? Who does it harm?
I like it personally for two reasons:
- I’m a data geek so I like mathematical modes and I like football and this is a mathematical model of football, and the fact I don’t quite get it makes it interesting
- It’s now SBT transition and a match thread wouldn’t be the same without it
That's a nonsense, Shmmeee. Why not? Who does it harm?

Are you mad?--------------------Burge
Sterling*----Willis----Davies---Brown
Thomas----Doyle---Bayliss---Hiwula
---------------Baka------JCH
I think one of the CB's won't be fit, so Hyam will probably play. Also Grimmer if Sterling isn't ready.
I'm keeping Doyle in as we've had a good rest from our last game and I'm treating it as last chance for Bayliss and Hiwula to impress before getting dropped.
Chaplin dropped to the bench for a game just to see how he reacts - will it spur him on or will he sulk?
I'll go for 1-1.

It might have been a man called Charles Hughes who was the leading FA coach in the late 50's early 60's iircCan't remember who, but didn't some manager base his tactics around a statistician who showed that as most goals were scored from one area of the pitch (i.e the final third - don't laugh), that manager then insisted in the long ball all the time, i.e. getting the ball in the final third. Apologies for such a poor description, somebody with a better memory and more eloquence, will explain it better!
Edit: do I win an award from itsabuzzard for the longest, worst punctuated paragraph?

It's a good length, as they say. Punctuation's fine. Can't remember who, but didn't some manager base his tactics around a statistician who showed that as most goals were scored from one area of the pitch (i.e the final third - don't laugh), that manager then insisted in the long ball all the time, i.e. getting the ball in the final third. Ask a cricketer. What is a good length?
As i said genuine question, I wasn't having a go... I didn't say it harmed anyone so that's an odd comment?
I was asking because I hadn't seen anyone respond without confusion, but if you like it then fair enough, you are the only one i have seen!
A SBT transition? What are we transitioning to?
This could apply to just about every poster on here...I have no idea what he is talking about but it makes sense to him and he is harmless.
If anybody has a spare I need an extra one, ta.
