Protein shakes are the Emperors new clothes.
The body can only absorb so many grams of protein per day, and any excess just gets pissed away, literally, so all these protein shakes & supplements are a waste of money & a placebo at best.

I guess it depends on if you're getting enough protein initially though. Like those vitamin supplements - apart from vit A your body will be get rid of everything it cant absorb. Hence why your piss is luminous after a berocca.
I've got some as I'll admit sometimes my diet is lacking. But some of the vitamins in the tablet are like 500% RDA so I quarter them and drink it over a number of hours to give my body a better chance to absorb it.
Haven’t read all 7 pages here so not sure if it’s been discussed or mentioned already but Huel is fantastic. Nutritionally complete meal replacement “shake”...in quotes because it’s really just milled food.
Wouldn’t recommend doing this long term (for the mental impact) but I did a whole week on nothing but Huel and felt great. It’s not a magic weight loss solution or anything but it was just a way that I could perfectly measure my calorie intake and not be tempted to have “a little bit more” when giving myself servings and a way to not be tempted by anything else. At the end of the day it really is calories in versus calories out for weight loss. Doing the whole week on it helped get me out of my sugar addiction! Sugar really is just addictive...like cigarettes if you go without for a couple of weeks you don’t even crave shit anymore (obviously you still will be eating sugar but you know what I mean).
Nowadays I have one for breakfast cause I can’t be arsed to cook and hate feeling bloated in the morning.
Also really helps to get into some kind of cardio and once you get pretty good at it or competitive with someone, you don’t put it off and hate it. There’s nothing worse than feeling like you’re starving yourself, but if you are taking more calories out on one side of the equation as well as monitoring your intake, you can treat yourself to a little bit more food in your stomach and still run at a pretty solid calorie deficit...without mentally feeling like it!

+1 on impeccable turds.I used Huel for a month about 4 or 5 years ago I think it was. And as you say I felt great using it. But after while I got sick of the taste, then dropped it down to just breakfast then gave up.

Yeh exactly mate. Everyone is busy and even with the best intentions sometimes it’s just not possible to meal prep every day. And when you’re on the go or you get delayed in the morning you’re way more likely to eat shit if you have nothing with you. Huel is a great option!that stuff sounds good and would be great to have something fast- it can take ages to rustle something up when you’re starving & have to stand chopping up vegetables & things.
Cycling going well. Not focusing on anything else. Still bloody hard cycling against the wind and I’m behind almost every cyclist up hills some days. But did 500 miles last month. I’m using Strava to beat the segments ive done before.
I'm a cyclist (although not a MAMIL type) and it does make me chuckle when I see/hear hefty blokes who have poured their beer gut into some lycra, chatting about the benefits of their new super lightweight rims that cost a bomb but have shaved 100g off the weight of their over-priced plastic bike.....
....it certainly is "the new golf" in many respects.
I'm a cyclist (although not a MAMIL type) and it does make me chuckle when I see/hear hefty blokes who have poured their beer gut into some lycra, chatting about the benefits of their new super lightweight rims that cost a bomb but have shaved 100g off the weight of their over-priced plastic bike.....
....it certainly is "the new golf" in many respects.
I’ve used it for about 18mths and love it. Easy to take to work and bang in the fridge. I only use it for lunch so technically replaces the sandwiches so now Monday to Friday I don’t touch bread which is great (weekend gloves are off). Cycling is my passion, currently do about 200 miles per week indoors and out, have 3 bikes and could easily buy another! Lockdown has improved me no end but also great to see so many more cyclists out (although they need to read up on etiquette). I think any weight loss is all in moderation, people go from one extreme to the other and then wonder why they fall off the wagon after a few weeks. I knew someone who started huel for all 3 meals and lasted 2 weeks. Too much too soon and body didn’t like it (also willpower weined badly!).

Without sounding like a sales rep it’s more than just a protein drink...it’s nutritionally complete. So you “could” literally live off it forever. That’s what I really liked about it...I probably get way more nutrients today than I did previously even though I’m on a much more calorie controlled diet.Thanks, is it just like a protein drink? I have a hobby rebuilding and renovating old mountain bikes. I saw one a couple of weeks back on eBay and went to £150 which was the going rate as it needed a few retro bits getting. It went for £290!Ebay is fucking ace for bike bargains.....I think we've discussed this before. The amount of top notch gear that goes for a song....I got a beauty of a Genesis last year as it was listed "for repair" ....re-set the brakes, re-indexed the gears, quick clean....good as new.
I've got 4 (and a half) bikes at present.....so probably can't justify anymore shopping till I sell one.
