We have, and are no longer underdogs. We’ve got rid of a manager who we have deemed “stale” therefore a new manager must be a significant improvement

Was the belief in Coventry City as an entity or the particular incarnation of CCFC from the last six years though?

Taking a long view, this feels an awful lot like the early 2000s. Owner hungry for success, doesn’t quite understand the game. Most fans also hungry for success but generally happy with how we’re progressing towards it. It’s giving “instant success”.

The feeling was very much that Robins should have time to turn it around precisely because we were wary of what lies on the other side of a Robins sacking and how precarious our position is.

To be fair historically we are not a Premier league team and there are currently 20 clubs bigger than us .

Sacking our greatest manager of the last 40+ years with a long history of turning seasons around to bring in a failed big name like Lampard has set a pretty ridiculous precedent imo, the fans are just following Doug's lead.

We've nor had a bad season under Robins ever .. why would it change this year? We'd just picked up 7 points from 4 games and beyond the next 2 or 3 have a good set of fixtures for a while

Probably not but assuming you are too good to go down is a fools game. I've said I'd want top half and significantly improved home form now but unless the new man absolutely stinks the joint out I'll judge more on next season and hopefully a much better start than this.

That's ridiculous. MR had a proven recored in the previous 2 seasons of turning us round. The Derby game was poor granted, but that was on the back of 2 good performances that indicated an upward channge in momentum. The players we have are also good enough to be top 10 in this league, even if they haven't performed well so far.

I felt under MR we would have had every chance of winning at Sunderland. I suspect DK felt the same as he pulled the plug on him before the chance of that happening, and him then looking more ridiculous for then getting rid, when all logic would otherwise indicate you wait for the international break to get rid of MR and then bringing a new manager in.

I think we'd have finished mid table with Robins still in charge so to justify the sacking, we should be improving on that.

Realistically it will probably be mid table this year but we have to then be going for play offs next year.
