That’s cool, you don’t have to! I don’t get why you wouldn’t give a new person at least a small proportion of the time / patience we gave the last manager. I assumed we’d all learned by now that often people need time to settle into their roles?!

I said top 10 should be the target for the new manager.
But apparently according to others anything less than playoffs from this point is a failure, even though we have wasted 1/3 of the season and would have to go an incredible run to get there.

Based on this season? My only point was ever I thought there were managers out there who could get more from this group, many said they didn't think that was the case as we'd been left with a poor group of players. Those are the people that shouldn't expect any upturn.
I do however. As I say, top half this season and significantly improved home form is imperative. Whether people like it or not football is a business and the home form we've shown for some time would eventually see dwindling crowds. So I class that as vitally important.

That’s right, and penalties don’t count, and without Vik we wouldn’t have got to the playoffs etc etc- the full shooting match of whataboutery and deflection will no doubt get an airing now.
You’ve demanded the head of a manager who without fail turns around bad starts, you’ve spoken about how King needs a return on his investments, how it’s a results business, but now you’re saying you’re expecting lower mid table, which is where we are anyway, and a lot lower than Robins had us in the last few seasons.
If it is him, do you really think King is going to pay for a ‘name’ like Frank Lampard and say “16th will do, Frank?”

Because we are a third of the season in and are just outside the relegation zone. So things change from the start of the season.
It's like saying expectations would change based on a points deduction.

Changed vote from top 10 to play offs.
Top 10 is what I expect from the position we're in but if MR has been sacked, then I can only assume to objective is play offs, which is what I will then expect.
I hope we have some clarification as to what the aim actually is this season, as I was under the impression it was "Up!" going by the pre season marketing and all we've heard since Stoke away was to "manage expectations" from MR. It did seem MR was going against what had been set by DK.
I haven't got an issue with slowly building, but the owner/marketing emphasising on promotion adds confusion to expectations. We've always had to be grateful for just existing so it is confusing as to what to expect.

Feel like that’s a bit of schematics. Get your point and I wasn’t for us getting rid of Robins when he went as felt we were turning the corner but being 17 on goal difference isn’t mid table when draws below you would drag you into the 22 spot.

Whether he would’ve this time, we’ll never know.. but what we’ve gone from is trusting he could, to him now being gone and someone new taking over. What are the expectations for the new HC? No idea..and that in itself is the problem.
DK will end up being a hero or a fuckinidiot.. but in the meantime, we’ve gone from hoping for the familiar MR upturn, to not knowing what fucking direction we’re going in.

It’s almost better to have a points target in mind. You can’t legislate for what the rest of the league does.
67 points this season given where we are at the moment would suffice.

Unless the new manager gets us into the play offs then sacking Robins has been a complete waste of time. I'm assuming Mr King believed that under Robins the play offs were unachievable . If not, I can't understand the sacking at all.

We were struggling, so at this stage, provided we rebuild in a positive way, I will be happy. Provided we are in this division next season (assuming we can't make play offs) I will be happy to regroup (with an undoubtedly different squad), and hopefully a bit of money to have a real go. We will see.

1.00 takes us to 47 pts
1.25 to 55
1.50 to 63
1.75 to 70
2.00 to 78
MR got a point a game before he was sacked, so someone doing 25% 'better' gets us safe but little more, 50% better takes us into mid table and 75% would take us to the edge of the play offs. 2 points a game is what Sunderland at the top are managing.
Realistically how much better will a new manager do with the same players? Impossible call.

After 15 games last season we were 20th, on 15 points. After 46 games we had 64 points, so about 1.58 points per game (with the cup run thrown in there), and we keep being told the last 9 months were shite and that these are talented players, so we have to expect any new manager to at least match that per game.
