What does this actually mean for CCFC though? (2 Viewers)

I think people see the possible demise of the club, as we have the shittest owners that a club can have, who banked everything on getting ownership of a stadium and ultimately failed. They have absolutely no plans, or cash, or the will to build a new stadium, and we are pretty much financially crippled without the revenue streams we need from our own stadium. We are a basket case of a club, with no home, and loads of saddled debt, leaving us hardly an attractive proposition for a bid from potential new owners, be it wasps or Byng or Haskell or anyone else.

I appreciate the above doesn't mean a terminal end for the club, but after I have looked through the gloom of the above points (I am sure there are more) I am struggling to feel optimistic for the present or future.

I know Sisu put everything on red and the ball bounced into black, but as I said on another thread, could it be possible that Wasps and their owners make a bid for us. Sisu would be dealing with them rather than the ACL/CCC mafia and a deal may be reached which is why Wasps may be the Ricoh cheaper because they have to buy CCFC as part of the deal.

At this stage in our history, I would rule nothing out with the way things have gone for us.

No I don't think so, realistically who would want to own 2 loss making clubs? Which club becomes priority? They're struggling to raise the cash for this deal, how will they afford to buy and run both clubs, whilst 'investing' in the team?

It feels like rip to me at this minute, if you're not fussed then fair enough.

What do Wasps actually own though? There was an interesting post on the wasps forum saying in fact likely nothing.

It's been pointed out numerous times where have Wasps suddenly got money from to buy out ACL, I imagine it's other parties from the consortium other than the Rugby club that have stumped up most of the cash for this purchase. I don't see Wasps at the Ricoh viable as I don't think they will have the attendances to support it so it will be interesting to see if they do have another plan hidden up there sleeve.

It might be clutching at straws but straws is all we've got at the moment and I'm gonna clutch onto them tightly.

Ha ha ha, clutching at straws and looking at the glass half full is a lot better than crying like a baby about RIP CCFC but each to their own I suppose. You be happy sticking with Sisu forever and see where that gets you..........

They should have went years ago, SISU aren't just going to pack up their bags now and leave quietly.

One would think it much more likely. The stadium was always their trump card. It's tough to imagine SISU's investors pouring money and time into a stadium and the squad.

Its not an easy question to answer. If you take SISU at their word then absolutely nothing changes. We still have the 2 + 2 deal in place, ACL continues to exist so that agreement is still valid and will run it's course at which point we will have our new stadium to play in. If anything it is good news for that plan as it gives CCC little reason to object to any application to build a stadium within the city.

Now if we assume there is no new stadium that's where it gets trickier. Basically we don't know and can only hope that the deal makes allowances for the club to prosper. Looking for things to be positive about it doesn't make sense to me, looking at the size of Wasps fanbase, for this consortium to buy ACL just for Wasps to play 11 games a year at the Ricoh. Surely they will want us to stay, will we get a better deal than we did dealing with CCC and Higgs, will we get a deal that gives us a sustainable future - something along the lines of low rent and access to matchday revenues?

Can we look at the fact that before the briefing last night it was being talked about numerous councillors resigning yet after they had full details it became a unanimous vote. Is it wishful thinking that they have seen this deal will benefit the club? Impossible to say until full details are released / leaked.

I can't help but think we're missing something, but maybe that's just wishful thinking. It doesn't make sense to me for Wasps to move given the state they are in and as bad as anyone in politics can be it would seem to be political suicide for everyone on the council to vote in favour of something that effectively kills the club, and possibly the rugby club along with it.

Well argued as ever, Chief.

As things stand, what we do know is that this deal spikes the chance of CCFC under SISU ever getting access to the Ricoh's revenue streams. Four possibilities that I can see:

1) SISU sell to Wasps. This is what I think the councillors have been told will probably happen. Synergy, rainbows, unicorns, and Champions League football without a doubt. The council roll back on their stated intent to build on every decent sports pitch left in Coventry (funny how that never came up in the debate), and every child is branded with Wasps/CCFC on their forehead and given a free mini-rugby ball/Sky Blue Sam doll. Arise, Dame Ann.

2) SISU remain as owners, the club stays as a tenant at the Ricoh. No access to revenue streams means that the club remains mired in L1, or possibly worse.

3) SISU remain as owners, and they build another ground outside Coventry. Given the likely size and location, this doesn't bode well for the chances of the club either, and effectively the club is now a tenant of SISU. Ambitions are limited to mid-table championship at best maybe, but at least Sandra gets to pick the curtains.

4) The nuclear option, SISU liquidate the club. Wasps move Coventry United into the Ricoh, and four people go to watch the first game. Embarassingly attendances are still double that of the franchise rugby side.

I'm only partly joking here...

Welcome back, by the way. I've missed you. I guess returning to the Ricoh was a little upsetting for you. Anyway, now that there's another crisis you pop up again. Cool.

I miss myself when I'm sleeping so don't worry about it, join the queue. Nice to see you're as boring as ever, show me a quote when I said I would be upset about returning to the Ricoh, unless oh shit, you've rumbled me, I am really RFC , really thought I'd covered that one. Oh and don't worry, I'm only back for you numb nuts.

It was always a hopeless and unrealistic dream that CCFC would ever own the Ricoh. As a L1 club, it's literally out of their league. It was always going to be owned by someone else with CCFC as tenants. So nothing has changed except new owners. SISU will never build a new stadium. CCFC will hang on at the Ricoh as long as they can and SISU will hope that by some miracle we can get promoted as they continue the misguided policy of letting every one of our best players leave each season. I don't see how SISU can sell CCFC as it is saddled with debt.

we rented the stadium for years, left because we didn't want to pay the rent, came back at an agreed cheaper rent, and will now be renting off someone else until our new ground is built in 2 - 4 years

The club could have bought the stadium and didn't.

I'll go for option 2 or the first sentence of option 4. The only bit you missed is that SISU will continue to sue people.

I think they're running out of people to sue. Saying that, I hope Wasps select 'legal cover' as well as 'accidental damage' when they come to insure the stadium. ;)

NTFC regularly played saturday, and we played sunday.....

That was only because the fixtures had already been released when we moved. I would imagine either RFU or FL will supply fixtures to the other and they'll work around each other. they must do that already for other teams that groundshare.

I hope that at the very least Sepalla grasps the nettle and joins in with Wasps owner and turns our now joke of a football club into a thriving one, she knows fuck all about running a football club and should allow Wasps to bring in the right people to do so then she might start earnig her investors some money. First job has to be to jettison Fisher and Waggott and instal a new regime.

Wasps are owned by a seriously rich Irishman who I doubt would be fazed in the slightest about sisu or their lawyers.

What, the council, taken in by some wide-boy who spins a few lines but in reality cares not a jot about either the club that he owns or the city that he's coming to?

Never going to happen. ;)
