Where will we finish ? (1 Viewer)

There's next to no chance of that. We'd likely only be able to lose a couple more games all season and win nearly all of the others.
Agreed. If we were to make the top 6, I'd like Southampton to go up in the autos, as I'd much sooner face Ipswich, whoever else - although Leeds would be a very tough nut to crack. Ideally, somebody else knocks them out in the play offs, and we subsequently beat them in the final. I'm travelling to Teignmouth the weekend of the play - offs, so will be jumping in a car from Devon to Wembley then returning again on the Sunday, if the 'impossible' happens, @Hutch11 !!

Nah, beat Leicester in the final, preferably with the most controversial winning goal in history.

Have faith, who is better ? We will get better, we are closing in slowly but surely on wobbling Ipswich.

4th or 5th.

Leicester are safe. Southampton and Leeds to fight over 2nd. Our poor start has given us too much to do. But next season we will be around the top from the start of the season if we don't get promoted this season.

The biggest question is how far Ipswich drop. They had the advantage of a side with decent players that knew each other. It's also a long, hard season. Think they will still make the playoffs but only because of their first half of the season.

WBA have a good enough squad but don't see them pulling away. And nobody else presently worries me in the slightest. Most probably a team or two that will break from the chasing pack. We're going to be one of those.

Look at the league fixtures upto February 24th and estimate what we will get, 8 games I reckon 5 wins and no losses, I see Leicester as a free-hit, and we can win that fucka.

Others have to win their games too they all play each other.
Tbf Luton were 2 points better off than us at this point in the season and managed to get to 80. If we replicate their last 20 games of 11 wins, 8 draws and only 1 lost (41 points) then we get to 78 points which won't be enough for top 3. Looking at the top 3, their current points are putting top 3 around 83/85 point mark.

I think between 6th and 9th. I can't see Sunderland, Norwich, Hull or any of them teams in or around that 6th place causing us many problems. GIven Robins and Ady's experience managing our side and there know how in this division i would give us a really strong chance, only providing we stay clear of injuries. Things change quickly in football and you only have to look at where we are now compared to 6,7 weeks ago. Back then i think everyone i spoke to had no faith in Wright and all the other new lads bar Sakamoto. If we stay clear of Injuries, particularly to Wright, Sakamoto, Bobby, Kitch, Binks, MVE, Sheaf, O'hare, Bidwell and Palmer we should all believe in the fact we have a fighting chance to finish 6th. I think next season tho theres no doubt in my mind this Coventry City side will be a real threat in the league, the way Sunderland, Shef Weds, Middlesbrough and Leeds threw the kitchen sink at us and we came away with 3 wins and a draw says it all with the quality we have.

It’s tricky to predict. But for a slow start and some last second goals against then we would be well in the play offs now. Then again if we hadn’t changed system I don’t think we would be on the this run so it’s swings and roundabouts.

top 4 are gone as in too far ahead and with the PL teams in it then it’s almost impossible to compete as it’s been showing. No shame in that.

I personally think we are best of the rest. Are we better than hull Sunderland watford Preston cardiff. Boro. Even a decent West Brom? I think we are.

3. Leeds
4. Ipswich
5. Coventry

Tough playoffs for me. Wife and her family all support Leeds. Family in Hull and a few Ipswich fans I know from school.

Still reckon we'll get about the same points as last year. Position will just depend on what other teams manage or how much they f*ck up their good starts.

I’m pretty sure (but haven’t checked) that Mark Robins has improved our position every season since his second coming in 2017, I’m convinced he’ll keep that record going.

I honestly think we’re good enough to match the teams in the top 3 but our inconsistency early season has made a serious challenge very unlikely.

So 5th last season, I’m going for 4th this season.

And if it’s anything less 🤔 call him a taxi 😏

We are looking better now , but watching yesterday, it was a very below par first half performance, against a second string Boro …… we were fortunate.
We have to start playing for 90 minutes & then who knows where we can end up .
Hopefully the messages of Doug’s lack of money to invest , is not accurate , else the second half of the season I believe , we will fall just short .

Game was all over bar the shouting after 70 minutes, same with Sunderland, two of the fancied teams both had their moments but those moments were handled I thought relatively easily.

Very interesting reading all of these posts.
Some saying in November that we were relegation fodder and MR should get on his bike.
what a load of utter rubbish .
Ive thought for a long time we’d be there or there aboutS for top six and it’s looking more and more likely .I think we’ll just make it so would depend on how we fare in the playoffs but we can beat anyone on our day and trips to Wembley have generally been successful.
To my mind there are a couple of things which account for our massive improvement .Players settling in and fulfilling their potential..New formation and maybe most importantly strength in depth in just about every position after all it’s a squad game not just about the first 11.
As I’ve said many times I’ve been supporting the City for more than sixty years and this is one of the most exciting times. Up there with when we got promoted to the old First Dividion in 1967/8 I think it was.

Leicester have the best side. Then I see 3 sides on a par. Southampton,Leeds and ourselves. Ipswich will now find their level now the better sides are up to speed.

There's a few sides that were supposed to be stronger than us that look very ordinary. Even Southampton or Leeds could hit a bad run. Looking forward to an exciting second half of the season.

Yep ‘and as has been the case for probably the last 5 years’ I think we’re a much better team than a lot of our supporters believe us to be.

Their first half team was not second string

To be fair, Middlesbrough were missing 12 players yesterday. It wasn't their full strength team, we were missing just Kitching.

12 players ? Didn’t take a lot of notice at the start but I’m sure their comentaters said they were near to full strength
