Shipley will be at Nuneaton with the Kelly-Evans twins.
Come on, we have the 9th best Academy set up, on that basis you are supposed to champion crap players that are produced! :banghead:

We’ve had U23 players from premier teams who’ve been utter rubbish - the academy is the one success story we’ve had. It’s obvious now we are missing Willis massively at the back isn’t it?

That's one thing I don't get-is there nobody in the academy/u23s who plays in the positions that Maguire Drew and Barrett have and are no better?

I just can’t believe someone is this thick and claims to get 90% of things right

Yes, Tom Bayliss and Jordan Shipley who are playing over them. Haven’t you noticed them playing for us this season?

What does that have to do with anything? But no I never
It was Maguire Drew. So he wasn't playing in the middle (Bayliss) or on the left (Shipley) and has been deployed on the right in the limited appearance's he has made. Hence the "is there nobody" line.

Okay but that’s not what you originally said. You said don’t we have any better players in our system than Maguire Drew and Barrett who can play in them positions and the answer is yes we do. Bayliss right midfield although not where he’s best is far better than the two loanees we’ve had

Maguire Drew started 3 games after that and was taken off at half time against Accrington and never seen in a Cov shirt ever again.

So am I still thick then? Bit harsh and uncalled for throwing around personal insults like that and "you can't string a sentence together". We are/were having a football debate, or so I thought anyway?

Harsh throwing insults around?

You wished a season ending injury on a player you didn’t like and then had nerve to say he took it the wrong way

Anyway, this ‘debate’ which isn’t really a debate more just you posting anything which sounds good in your head before being corrected has gone on long enough. You and your son are in a very small minority (probably even on your own, thousands of posters on this site but none are as volatile as you) - fair enough if you don’t rate a player but comments you throw out are uncalled for and are verging on the obsessive

Have a good evening anyway

Yes, the same at every club in England. You will get a few who make it onto the big stage, few who play Championship and the rest who will forge a career at L1-L2 level. CCFC are ranked 9th in England for producing players who make it professional.

And no I never rated Thomas or Finch.

Said about Finch in 2014: ‘Finch needs to be put out of his misery’

Said about Thomas in 2015:
For me, a midfielder has to:

Add something going forward

and/or

Be solid defensively.

Vincelot is solid defensively, Fleck adds something going forward (so far this season) as does JOB and Maddison. Thomas does neither’

:)
What have you said about Burge?

Funny you mention that actually! I had a look when I was looking last night.

July 2015:

Burge does not make anyone in the crowd or anyone on the pitch confident of him, they'd rather kick the ball out of play with no one around him then give it back to Burge. I support everyone who wears the badge, but when his own players don't believe in ability it's hard for me and other fans to do so.

He can't even put his goal kicks into play ffs. I'm confident in and trust TM but I think he's got this one wrong. We'll have to see.

He’s progressed more than I thought he would and I do think hes an okay goalkepeer now :D

It depends. To the majority of the forum that post could be posted now and still stands

For me though he has improved quite a lot since then. I think that post may have been after the Burton game on Sky which we won 2-1 where Vincelot scored that dubious goal

Youve got a nerve targeting me because I’m his son. What does that have to do with anything? None of my comments are uncalled for, just the reality of what I see on the pitch. Obviously you see it differently, but I don’t get personal with you in any way.

If we don't get promoted, isn't it more a case of who will want to stay?
I hope we keep Ponticelli, but I fear he will leave.

On the back of what? He's scored 1 league goal. I've noticed you've been banging the Ponticelli drum all season but when he's been in the first team all I've seen (aside from the weekend's goal) is a player who at present lacks the basics expected of a professional footballer. Now I'm not saying that this wouldn't come in time but I expect that your fears surrounding Ponti are substantially premature.

Normally hate the bickering on here but there’s something about the STP V Adge matchup that I really enjoy.

Young player in his breakthrough season not as experienced as most pros shocker.

He knows where the goal is, you can’t teach that and you can make a decent career knowing only that as a striker.

You don’t always have to perform in a first team to get a move. A Premier League side may look at his U23 goalscoring record think there’s something to work with and pay a few hundred thousand pounds for him. They can afford to take 10 risks like that, 9 might not impact their first team but 1 could and that’s worth it for them

Twisting this a little, Which player(s) have you been most disappointed with this season.

For me, Vincenti and Kelly.

Was expecting big things from the pair and at the start of the season, Kelly especially was looking a class act. He just hasn't been the same player since his injury though. Too many anonymous efforts from him.

Vincenti has been a big disappointment. I have stuck up for him on a number of occasions and on occasion I think he has done pretty well, but he is so inconsistent and for every half decent game he puts in a poor performance.

The others have to be the DKE's. We knew they weren't without fault, but they seem have gone backwards this season to a degree where they are a bit of a liability.
Have to confess, I was over the moon when we signed Vincenti but he hasn’t lived up to expectations. I saw him play so many times for Rochdale and he was superb (relative to the division that is) and I really thought he would do the same for us but alas………….

I'm not too sure why people are so against Burge... i would keep him and Obrien at the club, at this level you are never going to get a good keeper that rarely makes a mistake and commands his box sufficiently, Yes Burge can be prone to the odd mistake and his distribution is poor, but i have also seen him make some tremendous saves to keep us in games this season which ultimatly resulted in a share of the points.

I thought he was going to be a star based on what I had heard about him.

Completely missed this thread.
Firstly I fear no one leaving this summer, for the first summer in a long time the management team have the club in a strong position with desirable players under contract so should anyone leave its on our terms, to a degree.
Only Tom Bayliss has the best say in his future.
Should anyone leave the pool of players out of contract at this level is huge if TW has been working hard he will have reports on the areas MR is looking at ready.

My squad is based on remaining in League Two

Staying are
O’Brien/Burge
Grimmer
Willis
Davies
McDonald
Stokes
Hyam
Shipley
Kelly
JJ
McNulty
Ponticelli
Biamou

Try to move on
Haynes
Vincenti
DiKE
DeKE
Beavon

Release
Reid
Baker

New deals for
Doyle
Bayliss
JCH

Potentially cash in if the right bid comes
Burge, ideal time to sell for a nice fee with the tag of keeper of the year in L2. A poor mans a David James, wonderful shot stopping ability which has been its worth alone but other aspects of his game are not up to it for me. Commanding of his area is one weakness he’s not developed on this year again. At his peak for me in L2 so should the right deal be offered I’d accept, tho I’d go again in L2 with both keepers if necessary if no takers.

Willis, yep I’ll say it again. His value again could help build a stronger squad.
Great athlete for L2, his pace alone gives him the beating of many players toe to toe but can be found out man marking or against some target men. He’s another with the tag of team of the year for L2 but he could well fetch a big amount of money, a sum of money MR might decide is right to accept and build his squad upon or worse still if season ticket sales fall once more to balance to books.

I’m not convinced the right bid will come for JJ or McNulty or anyone else not mentioned and if MR remains in charge to build again and rightly so any sales will be on his say so, unless like I say there is short falls in the predicted running of the club for SCMP purposes.

Has this been actually confirmed or a hearsay I thought I heard type scenario?

Fantastic if he’s signed a longer deal
