surely the solution is obvious.
it is, SISU can jog on
Why would the council do that when they want the football club to be at the Ricoh?

One slight problem that I can think of is that I seriously doubt SISU can afford to build a new stadium. Oh, and I also don't think they want to build one, even if it is plan A, or is it now plan B?

If the Ricoh makes more money without the club why? It's denying a charity a better return on their investment and getting construction jobs in the city.
If Sisu can't afford to build a new ground then can they afford to purchase the freehold of the Ricoh at a similar price?
I don't think so, and I guess this is why they seem to want to get it on the cheap.
The council have said that right?
If the council stated offering venues on a plate that element of their strategy would be quickly exposed.
A hell of a lot more people would be all over a new gound if it wasn't Sisu behind the plans. All I'm bothered about it having us playing in Coventry (or just outside).

Lots on here have said it so it must be true.
Sisu as we all know are a hedgefund I doubt highly that they can't afford the cost of it, but more in their business acumen is to purchase assets on the cheap.
I don't think any of us know whether they can afford it. I would imagine that hedge funds differ wildly in value, and this one doesn't seem to be that good at being one, but time will tell in the end.

I suspect I won't be popular for this but.....
Right Tim said that the eagle had flown, we've moved on and we weren't going back to the Ricoh. So how about we don't, ACL said that they can cope without us so let them Sisu are going to build us their own stadium. It's only three years (okay could be five) at Northampton but SISU are covering the costs of that so fans don't have to go into Sixfields if they don't want to. The team are doing well with limited support at Sixfields and would obviously get more support at
However this way we're not going to have to be beholden to anyone over F&B revenue or car parking or anything, the club would get all the revenues. Yes SISU would probably have ownership of the stadium and charge rent but is that any different from being at the Ricoh and ACL?
Also we can then stop talking about ACL and the bloody council.
So all we have to do is stay strong for a few years and we'll be back in or very near Coventry at our own stadium.
Lots on here have said it so it must be true.
Come on people, this is a thread purely to make a point and get people arguing and it's been done quite well.
Make people make your own point for you.
Worryingly I find myself agreeing with the sentiment of his post - we need a new stadium.

That should have read
there is nothing to suggest its going to happen
no plans and no land bought, yet we are 1/6th of the way through out "3 year plan" to get back to Coventry
