Its threads like this that really make me feel embarrassed. Some of the abuse being thrown at fellow fans really is disgusting. Its bad enough having SISU taking the club out of city but for me the in-fighting makes the situation a hundred times worse. Fans have been called scum, scabs, had their integrity and morals questioned and trashed by those who feel they are morally superior. Its out of order.

Quite a few people on here should be ashamed of the abuse they've thrown around. And its not passion, its abuse.

Torch.. agree.. abuse isn't on.... I haven't nor would I- if I have ever offended anyone apologies...but reasoned debate often contains morality arguments.. morality is one of the cornerstones of a civilised, fair and equal society isn't it?
Now I'm not claiming the morale high ground for my own decision not to go, over those that make the alternate choice but I cannot support the decision to go to Northampton based on my own ethical reasoning.. I think SISU are morally abhorrent in their custody of the football club...maybe there is an element of hypocrisy within my post.. but there you have it.

I been umming and arring whether to go or not. I went to Orient midweek and was proud of the lads for their commitment. They deserve OUR support, so that is why I go to Sixfields tomorrow. I don't go for the owners. I don't go for the fans. I go for the team and MY team are playing, for a few seasons in Northampton. I pray things are sorted soon so we can go watch our team in Coventry where we belong. BUT thelads need us. SISU don't need us. ACL don't need us, or if they do they have a funny way of showing us. NO my choice is purely down to the team. PUSB

I haven't posted on here for a long time, but I am heartily sick of this "I'm doing it for the players" rubbish of an excuse I am repeatedly seeing from certain posters.
The modern footballer is a mercenary, a highly paid nomad who is totally happy to play wherever he gets the most money for his services. Most of them do not care for whom they play, nor do they care about the fans other than giving the obligatory lip service.
To claim that you are going "to support the players" is either delusional on your part or is an outright lie to cover the fact that you care more about sitting in your seat at 3pm on a Saturday (or a Sunday since our move out of our home town) than you do about assisting the vast majority of fans in doing whatever they can to get rid of what are probably the worst football club owners in the modern history of English Football.
So please, stop being self-delusional or a liar. Just admit that you are opposed to the intentions of the greater majority of the fans and want to see the football under any circumstances. I could kind of respect that level of honesty, but I do not accept the silly "I'm going to support the players" excuse.

So, fans shouldn't go home or away then, should they? The players are mercenary so they won't care and the club is now based in Northampton so the only connection to Coventry now is the name. Why do certain sections then justify their 'away games only' stance? If someone said they are only supporting 'the lads' at away games only i should hope you'll be as equally scathing with them.

Torchy,

Where do you draw the line between honesty and abuse? If someone is either lying or being delusional, is it wrong to cast doubt on their stated position? Yes, calling someone a scab is not nice and is not something that should be appearing on here, but if someone is not facing the truth or is deliberately lying to cover their stand on matters, should they not be called delusional or liars?
Where do you draw the line?

If you have to justify a trip to sixfields because your children want to , leads to the conclusion that if you didn't have children ,you wouldn't go . That in turn probably means that you think is not the right thing to do . Therefore man up ,be a good parent and explain to your kids the stand you are taking and stop using them as pawns in a moral battle . I'm taking my 3 grand kids to the Ricoh tomorrow( I'm tired out thinking about it ) and in time when there old enough I'll tell them why.

Good post.

If you cannot see the relationship (by the age of 18) between your actions and the sort of world we'd prefer to hand over to our grandchildren you probably never will.

You might think that calling someone a fucking idiot because they have a differing opinion is being 'honest', but i do not. But you are as bad as the rest with the 'not facing the truth or deliberately lying' comment.

I think its time i had a break from this forum, to be honest. The breathtaking hypocrisy is getting a little too much.

To be fair, only a fraction of those criticising those who are going are insulting. Most people try to argue, totally reasonably. But when you get people coming on with their "I'M going to Sixfields" posts, what the hell do you expect? It's rubbing our noses in the shit, it's bound to get a reaction. The mental image that is quickly built of these people from the tone of their posts is not one of a nice, gentle person.

If that is how you interpret my comments, then you most certainly do need a break! When did I ever call you or anyone a "fucking idiot". Wash your mouth out with filthy-tasting soap for accusing me of that.
Let me also say that this kind of a response is one of the reasons I already regret having made a post after so long away from the board. It was silly of me to think I could make an eminently sensible post and get a sensible reply from you and others.

But that's taken to the extreme where anyone daring to mention they're going is seen as either a 'WUM' or taunting, with the bizarre notion being that they should be sensible and kept secret just in case. I mean someone offering a lift could just be someone offering a lift, but within a few minutes they get 'piss off. hope you break down'

Well I've been called a c**t, twice, by two different posters in the past week, one of the perp's having got away with it as he did it again to someone else yesterday! It's not the Test Match, you know...chivalry is not an internet option.

To be clear, I do feel a little bit sorry for a couple of the young local lads being thrown in at the deep end, but fans should not pick and choose. If you opt to boycott, then boycott totally, not pick and choose what and where you boycott. The excuse of "only going to show our support for the players" has been getting on my nerves from the beginning, and I just had to make a post to give my point of view.

Just want to say all the best to all of you going to the Legend's game at the Ricoh. Have a ball everyone and here's hoping there are 20,000 or more of you there.

I've been a viewer of this site for ages and like everybody am so dismayed at what is happening to our club. However unlike the majority shouty view on this site, I support those, like myself, who will be going to sixfields. To say we will be killing the club by doing this holds no logic. Surely withdrawing support and monies is the quickest way to make this happen. Distressing Sisu isn't going to lead to a sale as they have repeatedly stated they are going nowhere until their 'business cycle' picks up. In what i believe many will see on here as a warped view, the best way to get rid of them is to support the team, provide a financial base for us to grow sustainably, at which point they will sell to the sky blue cowboy or whichever self publicising media whores that may be around at the time.

Taking out the short term misery for us all. What do you see as the long term aim?
I would not like to see us back at the Ricoh under current terms regardless of who are owners are. Renting a stadium at whatever price for a few days a year is not going to help our club progress.

Clearly someone trying to justify the unjustifiable. If you really felt it was ok to go, then you would go, and wouldn't feel the need to justify yourself!

Truth is this is wrong just plain wrong, and deep down you know it! You can dress it uop in whatever ""I love cov" glitter you want, but this is just the emperor's new clothes! Face facts, sisu have kidnapped the club, betrayed every fan, and through selfishness, or just simply not giving a toss you are going to the northants shed. You are betraying the very club you claim to support, betraying all those fans who have fought tooth and nail to keep the club in coventry.

If you truly wanted to keep cov in cov, then the choice is simple do not go to sixfields ever! No one likes to be thought of as a traitor, but traitor you are and a disgrace to the club! It is weak minded fools like you that have allowed sisu to destroy the club you have claimed to love! Hope you can sleep at nights, certainly if I had betrayed the club I made such efforts to claim to support I know I couldn't!

I like your use of understatement.
You are aware, therefore, that the premise of "sustainability" is likely to be false.
You're being had, lied to, and yet will carry on supporting the lads.

The vast majority of Coventry fans will not be lied to, shame we couldn't have united under this banner.

No need to be abusive my fellow sky blue. I really don't have to justify anything. My view is one I've held for a long time. Kidnapping. Betrayal. Not really. I would love to watch coventry city in coventry (don't like the word cov) but it ain't gonna happen until both sides sit round a table and thrash out an agreement. Sisu have been poison but it takes two sides to tango and I don't see ACL or ccc providing the antidote for us at the moment.
Am I mixing my metaphors there?
