Anything is better than the Eton Boating song which is dreary as fuck
There is something in this and it's fair to say it's of a different era but, not everything has to be cheerful to market the brand, however why would you sing something that has that effect on you, it'll die out when that generation are gone from here, just like the new song says!

I love the Specials but the majority of their songs are too downbeat in tempo to make good pre-match, goal celebration tunes or turn into chants.

I like the idea of a message to you Rudi chant but it's not the right tempo to work

It will I think. It's easy to repeat.

I thought it was immense the other night v Oxford. Hairs standing on back of neck time.

Now some of you will hate this and label it cringe or a bit Liverpool etc, but I'm prepared, so tin hat on here goes!

At Wembley I loved the flags waving as it was sung, visually great, thought it would be great if like when Liverpool sing YNWA many hold scarves aloft. Be great if only for those couple of lines when no clapping we all did similar. Doesn't need to be everyone initially, but I think if a few did it could quickly grow and look even better. I know it's gimmicky, but anything that might rattle an away following is good imo.

Also, I assume that as we've adopted it the Enemy lads must be getting a few quid, at least I'd hope so. We're using it on merchandise etc so must be a kind of royalty.

Yes we all go to football to be on the end of a nail biting finish. We all go to football and feed off a fantastic atmosphere.

I don't personally rate the Enemy as a band. Live and Die... Is a rip off of a Jam song for a start (perhaps they should be getting the royalties?).

But it has given us a pre-match chant we can call our own. We always did a good Twist and Shout which I loved but it wasn't our own.

Live and Die is our own and now I'm just waiting for other clubs to mimick it... Yes I think it is that impactive.

Twist and Shout not being our own needs to be dropped. It's been sung for generations now.

West Ham never really sing it. Certainly not like us.

Why would other clubs mimick The Enemy?

Isn't that why the song is so good? It resonates with most people in the stadium growing up in Coventry.

I'm pretty sure Sickboy doesn't live in Cov, as I don't either. I am proud that Cov is my home town however, and while its kind of ok for me & other people from Cov to slag the place off I do get defensive if others slag it off. I like that united we can celebrate coming from Cov and when we sing that song it is like us sticking the V's up to everyone else and being proud of where we come from whatever its faults.

As has been pointed out the song owes a lot to the influence of the Jam, but the Jam were a great band so why not? Every great song will have some influence from something that's gone before so this is nothing new. I think its a good song that is unique to us, which is what makes it special, and therefore much better than Glad All Over/ Mr Blue Sky/ Twist & Shout/ Chelsea Dagger etc which are not definitively ours. Ideally we would have a Specials song as they are undoubtedly the most iconic band from Cov, but nothing quite fits as a football match intro, although Enjoy Yourself is a pretty good fit to play at the end of a match we've won!

Love and Pride is also uniquely Cov and would work. It's just a bit....shit IMO.

A lot of the album is to do with that general theme, ‘You’re Not Alone’ which is I think the best one on there, is about the disappearing car factories for example.

Watching fester spurs game the pre match hype song is when your smiling has been for a while now, It's awful the fans sing it half hearted more suited for a funeral, we have ourselves a great pre match anthem which is sung with passion from all in the stadium long may it continue

It's truly dreadful. Written by people from Chicago.

It's as much of an anthem as Twist and Shout is to us.

Exactly this. It is part of the psychic defiance belonging to so many who grow up knowing they’re going to be shafted by neolib cuntoids like Keith Starmer.
Fair play 👏
What would be your preference then, are we talking Jeremy levels of dissatisfaction or Nigel's, Reese mogg or Boris on the other side?

The advantage of the Eton boating song is we always sing it unaccompanied and its sung any time during the game . The Enemy song doesn't happen without the tannoy.
There's never been an outbreak of " we'll live and die in these towns" just for the hell of it, unless it was last Friday when I wasn't there !
