Am I in the minority here, whilst I admire how it’s sung by everyone and been adopted as our ‘anthem’, but I don’t really like it as it’s really quite a depressing song.
To summarise, where we live is shit, you’re stuck here, but try not to let it get to you….
hardly a love song to the city is it?
Or am I missing something?

Yes, a v tiny minority.

Like it now it’s sung loud and unique to us (even though I thought it was a slight ripoff lyrically to the Jam’s That’s Entertainment) - can’t stand Coventry Homes or Twist and Shout. The Torp one makes me want to poke my eardrums out with skewer.

My problem is I’ve heard better music coming out my arse after a vindaloo

You're going to have a widespread spectrum of musical taste amongst 20-30,000 football fans and it is impossible to find a universally liked song. For balance I think Marillion were/ are shite!

Just stick some ear muffs on and please, just don't go barging into that mead hall...it'll all end in tears and your mother will be extremly angry.

I cant pretend to be as well read as Harry, but his emoji was enough to get my curiosity.
Google to the rescue!
Imagine being paid to break wind up on stage in front of an appreciative audience! Has to be up there with beer taster as a dream job.

My only problem with WLADITT is that the lyrics are about how bad it is.

It is yes, but I sort of like that... it's owning our own shit.
A bit like the Q and N words have been owned by those communities.
That's how it feels to me anyway.

The lyrics aren't about Cov though, it's just musically and lyrically a generic 00's rewrite of That's Entertainment

Yes, therefore the words 'these towns' rather than 'this town'.

rewriting an older more popular song was a trick of theirs, a nation of checkout girls is just a 00's version of common people

I like your comparison to That's Entertainment but I think WLADITT is inferior in lyric and melody.

I just hope we don't get tempted to add goal music, always felt far too artificial.
Some mentioned Enter Sandman earlier as an entrance song (it would be awesome, but without any relevance I can't see it).

... But as a post goal song 🤔

I don't know, I think it's quite relatable. I've never lived in Cov, but have lot of family who do. I agree the lyrics are a downer, but I don't think the song is. It resonates with me. It's about a feeling. Where you come from, where you're going. It's all transient, but it's all starts with your heritage and your community. And despite never living there I still feel the message is powerful. I live and die on the city results. It part of my family identify. I'm invested in the city, even though I don't live there.

My wife is from a small town in Italy where her family still live, and I feel the same about it. It's where she grew up. It's will always be a part of her. And when we go back to see her family we reconnect with it.

We all live and die in "these towns", from the bustling the metropolis to the sleepy seaside village.

It should have always been ‘Elephant Song’ pre match, maybe for that video on the screen.

Honestly I'm not a fan of the song itself, listened to it the other day (haven't really heard the actual song outside the stadium) and was very underwhelmed.

But in the ground it gives me goosebumps. When the crowd signs it together I think it's fantastic. Not a fan or the band (nor of most of the original version of most of the songs we sing) but it makes me feel something when I sing it with the city fans. Maybe that makes me a hippy-dippy, wishy-washy sheeperson? I don't really mind.

Goal music is generally frowned upon, but if we were to have it, it should be "Guns of Navarone" by the Specials

As others have said, I personally love WLADITT as an anthem, it's got to be up there as one of the best in the country. You look at Liverpool and "You'll Never Walk Alone" as the benchmark, but you ask yourself, why is it that special? I mean, it's a song from an American musical, which happened to be covered by Gerry and the Pacemakers, the song itself has little to no connection to the city of Liverpool itself (unless someone can point out any ignorance?).

It's seen as special because of the passion of the Liverpool supporters who sing it, and I commend them for that, but the CBS can be close to or maybe even as passionate, whilst singing a song pretty much directly about the city they represent, sung by a, pretty much, Coventry band. It's absolutely brilliant in my view. The song just resonates with the people of Coventry, "yeah, it's a bit of a shithole, but it's our shithole", with the risk of adoption by clubs of cities/towns with similar backgrounds, but it can only truly be claimed by our club.
Celtic sing it better.

I have lots of mates that support various different clubs who all think it’s quality.

A lot of clubs would love to have an ‘anthem’ as good as ours.
