John Clarke OBE was a bit of a nonentity in my opinion, a PR guy who bailed when the going got tough, hence one might conclude his nerves are not made of steel.

It's a tough one. On the pitch Richardson and Fisher have probably delivered the most. But off it both have done more damage than the rest put together.
I'd say Richardson just for running up the debt and getting us relegated the first time. Starting our downward spiral in footballing terms, which ultimately is all I care about.

Not sure about theft to be honest. Like I say all I really care about if I'm honest is how we do on the pitch and I don't think moving from HR was a bad thing. Richarse gave me the best City team in my lifetime, but did it at the expense of the next 15-20 years.

It was announced he was on gardening leave (think that was the term used) and more would be announced in "7 days". Nothing else was ever said about him. He ended up at Gillingham IIRC.
Anyway I think Orange Ken's up there. Pointon and Brody too. Also who could forget Fletcher?

Half of the original members of the Premier League are no longer there. CCFC is a relatively small club. Like or not Richardson's strategies kept the club punching above its weight far more than clubs of a similar size. It allowed the signing of relatively big name players and some exciting times.
Many of the Chairmen at that time were of similar character. Richardson had a swagger and he had some delusion in his ambition. There are of course also some of the interesting accusations which we are all aware.
I suggest, however, you actually start to look at what his successor achieved. He cost cutted on a scale which made Dulieu look profligate. He destroyed anyhope of a return to the Premiership not only by swinging cuts but a trigger happy style regarding managers which saw two of the best prospects in management we had bulleted for very unsuitable "big name" replacements. Then of course there was the disastrous deal with the Ricoh.
Richardson would, I am sure, have reacted differently. He would not have had the "moral dilemna" faced by his successor in pulling the administration trigger at a time when there was no penalty whatsoever. Then he would under a new guise have fought to get a better deal over the new ground. Oh no doubt he would have had a pay rise as well but that's the way it goes.
I dare any Coventry fan to tell me they wouldn't rewind the clock back 15 years and return to Dublin, Huckerby etc. when a certain chairman even received some votes for Player of The Year.

You were the first to mention Graham Hover. But he was the one behind several 'regimes' including Richardson and McGinnity. He seemed fireproof, and the wisdom amongst the small shareholders was that they could never get rid of him because he was the one who knew where all the bodies were buried.
He never took a high profile, but watching him operate at shareholders meetings it was clear that he was behind most of what happened at the club. Shrewd or conniving - who knows?

Agree with a lot of what Grendel says, in hindsight we needed to push to become at least a yoyo club after relegation. Selling the family silver (players and the stake in the Ricoh) fucked us over as did terrible manager selection. Who can forget "instant success"?
On another note I actually liked Brody. Wasn't afraid to think outside the box, was approachable. I think being foreign and a bit flash went against him a lot. Also I don't think he appreciated how conservative football fans can be and could've kept some of his crazier ideas quiet. But new ideas of themselves aren't a bad thing.

Think it was Jimmy Hill who invested a lot of the clubs money in the US footbal league, only to see the bottom fall out and CCFC with a huge debt. Did the club have some tie up with Detroit Express?

it was similar to when he announced at the start of a game v Notts county over the tannoy that he had turned down Steve hunts transfer request (first hunt knew of it) - we lost 5-1
All seater stadium (whilst still watching through fences)
