God there are so many. On record it's Thorn, but Coleman for me was dreadful considering the resources he had available and the players he managed to attract. Honourable mentions for McAllister, Reid and Slade.

Tat's why it's Slade and not Thorn in my view. Thorn was thrust into the job by inept owners and fans proclaiming he was the savoir when he clearly wasn't up to the job, not his fault so much. Slade was supposed to be a proper football manager bought in who could turn us around and improve things and the way he failed was so miserable, if you take out cup games his win ratio is something like 4%.

IMO it's out of Slade and Coleman. Thorn wasn't a manager and was simply a cheap appointment by SISU to cut costs. Blame shouldn't be directed towards him really as he was set up to fail.
Slade: Took over an already abysmal side so didn't stand much of a chance. However his January signings were the nail in our coffin.
Coleman: The side he had a was probably one of the best in the Championship. Criminal how we didn't at least reach the play-offs.

The thing with Slade is that he inherited loads of shite from a dodgy transfer window in the summer so then had to try and fix it in January. Not doubting he was awful but there has probably been worse.
As said, Coleman was throwing silly money around at the time and did nothing.

for me it has to be Richard shaw
5 games 5 defeats with a budget at the top end of league 1 - and virtually killed any hope of promotion that year
Robins did very well in trying to turn it around before he jumped ship - and then there was the points deduction
but they were 5 bad games

For me it's Pressley. He made me fall out of love with football for the best part of a year. Yes, we did well at Northampton, but I didn't get to see that, and when we came back to the Ricoh it was pure, unadulterated dross. Plus his post-match interviews made me want to punch myself in the face so I'd lose consciousness and not have to hear his utter claptrap.

For once we've got an embarrassment of riches
Reid - turned a team that appeared to be improving the season previously to relegation fodder
Slade - he inherited an atrocious squad but his signings made it worse, e.g. Clarke
Coleman - he had one of the better squads we've had post relegation (it wasn't as a brilliant as some say) but he didn't get us any higher than where we were when he took over
Add to that, worst assistant / director of football:
Jim Smith - the decision to bring this dinosaur in completely derailed the season (probably alongside the sale of Lee Carsley), our squad in the first season in Division 1 was strong enough to go straight back up. Once we'd failed at the first attempt the writing was on the wall for the long term

I wasn't a fan of Thorn but don't blame him, honest bloke out of his depth. The owners should have stepped in in the middle of that season and could have saved our Championship status.

Venus was a active part of the whole summer recruitment still.
Beavon didn’t turn out to be what we hoped or needed in terms of goals but he added something slightly more than what we had in pressing from the front.
Both windows were poor but I put the summer slightly worse than January one

For me, Coleman.
We underperformed drastically under him, with the squad we had at that time. It was surely reasonable to think we could have been at least in the top half of the table with that team. Yet it remains some of the most dour, dull and depressing football we've played. And, when we really needed to win to stay up, we were saved by a Stoke goalkeeper, because we put in a disgraceful performance.

In the summer of 2002 we appointed McAllister, we didn't sign Adebola / Suffo til 2003. We still had Joachim on the books as well as Bothroyd at this point.
