I'm not though, am I?

Especially as you seem to have no clue what I'm on about.

You're suggesting coventry United ladies were formed because of the promise of a phoenix club revolution and coventry city never stopped funding them .. unless I'm reading it wrong

That's exactly what you've suggested

City become Coventry United Ladies – the new female addition to the progressive men’s outfit – in a move that the club believe offers them the best opportunity to succeed in their quest for Super League football.

Who was running the ladies club again? No it can't have been the same people shouting to anybody who would listen to force ccfc into admin and start again.

They were sold the cov united dream. I'm not debating funding being cut. Grendel gave a pointer to a potential reason. (One of many)

So all you've just told me is that coventry city ladies joined coventry United.. the key part you are still missing Nick , is that coventry city had already decided to stop funding them

Why are you struggling here ?

You want to argue to argue il argue all day mate

Of course if CCFC were committed to a women's football outfit, now's the time for them to come forward and pick up what's left really...

Something very dodgy about that.

But they aren't mate , they have a women's first team playing the equivalent of non league football .. it's a real shame

I'm really not struggling. I'm pointing out the dream they were sold.

Probably much like the original team that existed before cov utd men's.

If they didn't join coventry United then what ? They fold .. it's a dream forced onto them at the time ..this isn't rocket science

But you're also saying cov utd men's don't fund them now?

They could have just gone it alone and tried to be self sufficient. (Which it sounds like they are now)

Do you think who was running the women's team at the time had any bearing on it all?

At this moment in time , girls from coventry and its surrounding areas have a natural pathway to women's professional football ..

Let's hope it stays there

That's the bottom line
So what's the issue if they take the points deduction and the new owner takes them to the champions League?

Wouldn't have been able to go pro nick ,it's not the men's game where clubs are funded to the tune of millions .

The takeover is to see these women continue to play until May, it's not a long term solution

@Nick I despise Cov United, i have rereferred to them on here as vanity project FC. I vaguely know one of the people involved and can't come to any other conclusion than his involvement is an ego trip.

However, and I didn't know the story behind the ladies until it was explained in this thread, I have some sympathy for what Evo is saying.

What would you have done in their circumstance when City withdrew funding?

Well if they need hundreds of thousands pumped in and cov utd have also stopped giving them money.

Maybe they wanted to go pro a bit soon trying to be like the men's game? Not much different to cov utd men's thinking they were pros.

No I get it. I wouldn't want the kids teams to vanish and hopefully they won't if they are self sustained.

Surely they should have gone self sustainable? If they couldn't afford to start throwing money at players then don't.

I'm still shocked nobody has wondered why there might have been issues with the women's team and mens ccfc. Yeah there's money at them but pretty sure while you had the trust and women's club up to their tricks it doesn't help.

If I was funding an organisation where the director is outside my office in a sleeping bag and applauding a "competitor" then I'd probably stop it even if I could afford it.

Why are they trying to be like men ?
They play the sport professionally and get paid to do so , albeit at a much smaller rate than men .. that's their right as professionally athletes ?

We should encourage the growth of women's football

I'm not sure what yo mean by womens club up to their tricks?
The trust, yes.

I'm not on about the individual players, the club.

They clearly cant afford to pay the players and be pro if they barely bring any money in and nobody goes to watch.

I'm just being realistic.

The same people involved.

right, but if City withdrew funding and the ladies got an offer which kept them afloat could they afford to turn it down?
And when you say the same people, do you mean Kalns and Johnson because I'm not sure they were involved, (though I don't know that), but can well believe they were in the background shit stirring.

The women's game needs more support maybe ? More funding ? There's probably only a handful that make money ..

Burnley don't generate as much money or Interest as Newcastle United but they still get sky payments to the same tune , despite arguably getting 100 x less people watching them .

If men's football lost its sky deal it would be bankrupt in a month .. it's about funding and growth.. the women's game needs more support outside the big 3 or 4

They aren’t profit generating. Who is going to provide them funding. There just isn’t the interest or platform for women’s football. I watched Brighton Mancity earlier and it’s awful to watch.

So cov utd ladies want to be a pro club when they bring in hardly anything but just want it to all be covered? They don't get the advertising money, the fans going into games.

That's the thing, it's the same as the men's cov utd when they wanted to get too big for their boots. I'm pretty sure it isn't cheap playing at the butts too.

Even without the points deduction, weren't they joint bottom?

It's a different game entirely, based solely on our perceptions of football as we've watched the men's game all our lives.. it's still football and needs help to properly take off over the next few generations as perceptions and mindsets change

but again, what did you want the ladies to do if that was there only opportunity to keep going?
I can't stand Kalns and Johnson but do you expect them to turn round and say lets jack it because its that or play for that pair of cunts? (I'm also assuming there were no other offers made to them)

Yes, and there’s no interest in it. Sunday league football is football, doesn’t mean the entire country wants to watch it and they should all be professional.
