Dave bassettDid Wimbledon do it with 1 manager?
Bill shankley said he was the manager of the century for doing it , in 4 years tooJohn Toshack with Swansea
Eh?!?You can't compare the modern era to eras gone by... But here are some managers from 50 years ago to prove Robins is rubbish.
Classic.
Eh?!?
Led them to sixth in their first season in the top flight too, they were challenging for the title for a while. Damn good manager was Toshack.Bill shankley said he was the manager of the century for doing it , in 4 years too

He's back: JB, mangler of metaphors
The British know him as John Toshack. The Spanish call him John Benjamin. Whatever his name, he's back - and he's trying to help Real Murcia avoid relegation. Sid Lowe looks at one of football's great mangler of metaphors.www.theguardian.com
Eh?!?
I think you're letting your hatred of him colour this conversation, or are Evo me and bigfatron in on it too?Grendel said it's impossible to compare Robins' achievements against previous eras.
Then lists a load of successful managers from bygone eras to play down Robins' achievements.

But we're all responding to Evo's question about what managers did it with one club.I don't think you and Evo said you can't compare against previous eras did you?

Becuase Wycombe had the smallest budget in the league and got promoted. But why pick Wycombe? Why not pick the (at least seven) teams who didn't win the title despite having a bigger budget? Why ignore the fact we won a title playing in Birmingham?
@PVA does Jimmy Sirrell count - now there is a true legend
The real question is who's the better manager, Mark Robins, Kenny Jackett or Gareth Ainsworth?
Ainsworth wears tight trousers on the touch line so I’ll say himThe real question is who's the better manager, Mark Robins, Kenny Jackett or Gareth Ainsworth?
A Mount Rushmore style one behind the Tesco.Don't care if he is or isn't just build the statue and get one of George and John too.
On wheels though, in case we move again!A Mount Rushmore style one behind the Tesco.
Robins, Hill, Curtis, Sillett

Even after 3 promotions ? Name the 3-5 potentially betterI'd say he's the 3rd to 5th best. If he takes us to a top half Premier League finish, that will change.
We were certainly not "established" in the slightest bit-you must surely know that, we had many Great Escapes! JS & GC saved us from relegation under Mackay and then transformed us not into just FA Cup winners, but a side that challenged for a title not long after (we were 3rd for much of the season). If anything we became established under JS but at no other time during the 80's-90's.No is is disparaging the FA Cup win. Just that it was easier for Sillett to take an established top flight team and win the cup than it was for Robins to take a club on the verge of extinction back to the PL.
The top ten thing is a bit silly. Bobby Gould & Phil Neal were only 1 point off getting us a top ten finish in 1994, but I doubt they will be appearing on any greatest ever managers list. And if we did go on that, it would have to be Noel Cantwell
