I'm massively in favour of the Wasps deal if only because it wipes out SISU's attempt to get the Ricoh. The new ground will never happen - give it a while and SISU will leave and our long term residence at the Ricoh will be confirmed. People who disagree seem to fall into two camps - camp one is those who moan about "franchising" as if football is in some way comparable to rugby, and the second is people with a pathological hatred of the council who think that CCFC has in some way been "screwed over".

As CCFC fans we should only care about ourselves - our deal at the Ricoh hasn't changed and we should negotiate to extend our lease on favourable terms, which would suit all parties. Except those who love SISU of course! The priority has to be to thwart their vile attempt to use brute force to get the Ricoh. With this gone, they'll soon leave as there is no reason for them to stick around.

Maybe because everyone doesn't share your views. Maybe people have other more important things in their lives to get in a hissy fit about. Maybe people are more bothered why our owners are the biggest threat to our club and would rather vent their anger there.

If their digs about Sixfields was about Franchising in sport. (Which Sixfields wasn't) then yes.
If their digs were dont go to Sixfields if you want us back quicker and now they are going to Wasps then no I don't think they look silly

Does that mean that all those who abuse or made digs at the "defenders" of Wasps on the basis that moving a club to another town is "just wrong", will look now look a bit silly traipsing to Nuneaton to watch a "parachuted in " league 1 side?

Did all of those names and yourself protest outside the council house with LAST and BHSB when CCC had their meeting to approve the deal?

Personally I dont understand why 2000 odd CCFC fans didn't feel as strongly as me about CCFC being in Northampton and boycott it. But their you go.

And people simply aren't as angry cos it's a different sport and we are football fans and Coventry City fans. Our priority is our football team.

I didn't want Wasps here, but now they are here I am hardly going to beat myself up over it, get angry over it, or protest against it. It's happened and we just have to deal with it.

The easy answer is to not go and not follow any match threads and simply talk about our own football team.

No, not all my time. Fact is Wasps tried to get a bigger stadium built in Wycombe, but the residents scuppered that plan. They were losing money and are of the opinion that, playing in a small stadium in a small town does not allow them to achieve sporting or financial success. They are moving to a larger stadium with facilities that bring them 365 days a a year revenue. They will also benefit from naming rights and a new station being built. I aint going today, but then again it is live on BT Sport. I know quite a few who are going, including players from my son's team Rugby Lions, that wont turn down a chance to see top flight games.

People on here dont seem to realise rugby fans aren't as partisan as we are, like I could never go to watch Fetsa unless City were playing and I would never set foot in V.... Park .

Perhaps our energy should be used trying to fook SISU off and out for all the damage they have inflicted on our Club....................just an aside Fisher was spotted in Subway on Gallagher trying to buy sandwiches for the shop staff, and his credit card was declined and he had to send the lad with him back to get cash. obviously he's not cash positive.:jerkit:

My digs are aimed at the people who had digs, I have said in other posts if random bill from radford wants to go and watch then of course. As well as wasps fans I hope they have a great day.

Couldn't agree more. You're right some will have said that. If they had accepted the deal though laid on by SISU it's like me accepting a bid from you for my house at a reduced rate and my mates having a go at you for accepting the deal. Who's fault is that?

Yes Hockey is a franchised sport, football isn't. In hockey you can move a club from it's community (isn't liked in all cases and is rare), you only get put in the penalty box for two minutes for hitting someone with your stick across the chest, get put in there for 5 minutes for decking someone and get no penalty for flattening a player against the boards. None of these things are remotely acceptable in football because it's a different sport.

I've gone into the reasons behind our move before. I won't go into it too far and bore everyone this time so I'll be brief. We had no choice. The rink was falling to bits and we weren't able to renovate it or build a new facility in Solihull. The fans accepted the move, most continued to support the club in Coventry and continue do so now (I fall into all 3 of these brackets).

It's similar to Wasps in a way. Fans are behind it and they've bettered themselves.

None of the above applies to our move to Bermuda.

This is one of the most bizarre threads I've ever seen on here, and that's saying something! Posters who are openly welcoming Wasps but will never go to one of our games again if we're a centimetre over the city boundary.

To answer the original question if this rumoured site materialises I wouldn't have a problem with it. CCC, by selling to Wasps, have given a vlid reason for SISU to now pursue a plan to build a stadium in the 'Coventry area'. My preference by far would be in the city but I'm not going to refuse to go because it's 10 mins over the boundary.

To be honest the wife would kill me if I uprooted the family to move closer to Cov on the basis I'll be able to get a season ticket and go to every game and then tell her I'm not going to bother as they've built a new stadium a couple of miles away!

Dean Court cost less than £10m when they completely rebuilt it and holds around 12K I think. Something like that would do me. Wonder how much they could get the cost down if they used temporary stands similar to Fulham.

A move to Nuneaton would really upset those who want a campaign against wasps on the basis of how it impacted on Cov Rugby Club.
It would put them in a horrible position not going to watch CCFC because of the impact on the smaller local already established football club. Or they go anyway and get called hypocrites. Not a nice position to be put in.

I can't imagine us moving a couple of miles down the road having a huge impact on Bedworth or Nuneaton's attendances but if either club were to object then that would have to be taken on board. And that's a key difference, our potential move to Bermuda would allow for a consultation period with the opportunity for people to object. CRFC didn't get that with Wasps being dropped in the way there were.

Wasn't there talk a while back that NT were looking to leave Liberty Way or was that just speculation on here? If so they may even consider a ground share, stranger things have happened! Not sure their fans would be up for playing a CCFC branded ground the same as I don't want us playing in a Wasps branded ground.

A prime example of why fan ownership here would not work, they'd immediately sign us up to a 100 year rent deal paying 2 million a year with no revenues at the Ricoh. To be honest with I don't think hardly any. I thought the same about Cov Rugby club as well. However I can't see how someone who thinks wasps coming will have a massive impact on CRFC wouldn't think the same about CCFC arriving in Nuneaton.
