Would you have Tom Bayliss back? (2 Viewers)

Nothing against Tom Bayliss. But he has struggled to break through at Preston who I have had down as relegation candidates last season and this.

We do seem to have an obsession with ex players. Because of his age he will be the new Reda Johnson and Carl Baker....this thread could run for seasons 😂

I'd take him back on a free is he in the last year of his contract now?

I would.

He’s wasted a few years of his career, but you don’t lose potential. He was a player who could make things happen and was full of confidence at 17/18/19 - with the right Manager, team and a run of games he could be an asset.

He is quite slight, but other players with similar stature have made it.

However, if budget is tight then it isn’t the time to do it. We already have Bright as our risky purchase we’re hoping comes good, and if Bayliss were to come back he’d be behind COH, Allen, JJ and Bright for the 10 position.

Get him in if we can, but don’t waste limited funding if the budget is that tight.

Not gonna get many looks in and hasn’t really so far at Preston…Eccles is out and we still need a replacement for him till at least when he recovers, makes sense to try getting Bayliss back on loan with a cheeky buy option if he does well? Risk worth taking IMO.
personally I think going for anyone but Carl Baker would show the lack of ambition from the club.

Did he jump or was he pushed? Feel for the bloke as his career peaked just before he left us. As proven by Preston appearances.

He may not have been great so far for Preston, but they've probably contributed a bit to that themselves. Last season, he was chucked under a bus by the manager in public and openly criticised. It's rarely, if ever going to draw improvement......
Seem to remember it only being a couple weeks after being praised for a positive impact as a sub. Think he needed a change and different environment by the sounds of it.

Good luck to the lad, Wigan will give him the games that he needs to re-establish himself, I wouldn't be suprised to see him picked up by another championship side next season.

Maybe a swap with Shipley...

He’s got bags (pun intended) of ability, just needs a fresh start and playing for a bunch of cloggers like Preston was never going to benefit him
