Pressley Backed (1 Viewer)

So many damming and negative threads but nobody has pointed out that Steven Pressley has once again been backed by our owners and in a recent interview praised the support he's had from Steve, Tim & Joy.

Midfielder Anton Robinson, Striker Nathan Eccleston & David Prutton come in at a critical time and bring a useful blend of youth & experience in this division and above. This is good news that goes virtually unnoticed because of blinkered and obsessive views that focus only on one aspect of the Club.

Steven has openly stated that he's not a huge fan of either the January 'Transfer Window' or the 'Loan System' and didn't want to committ to making any permanent signings other than in the close season.

The 10 point deduction and other circumstances (like an unsettled disruptive player, engineering a 'transfer request') and suspensions & injuries have meant he's had to compromise and try and use the 'Loan System ' as it exists to our advantage.

Having done such an incredible job in his first full season despite the obvious adversity and points deduction, we are on the up and long may it continue.

Yep he's been backed. We've got some players in and I'm pleased. Loans or not, I'm pleased.
We are still totally fucked as a club right now though.

He has been backed. However it should have happened in January or the summer. With Pressley's style people were always going to burn out. We needed two of similar calibre in every position

Also, I can't help look at Liverpool and think. They turned round when I bid came in and a player spat his dummy out and demanded to go and they stood their ground.

Yes I know we are not Liverpool but it is all relative.

What would Leon have done if we said. No we are not selling you. We will listen to offers in the summer.

Over to you strike and see what offers you get in the summer or finish as the leagues top score then see.

Saying that with everything that is going on I am glad the club allowed two players in.

Clark would have refused to play if we didn't sell him. You should drop this -- Clark is regarded as one if the most difficult players to handle in football.

For an entire season?

A groin strain would quickly develop. No change he'd have played at the same level and he'd make Pressley aware of that.

A geriatric from Sheffield Wednesday and a Huddersfield reserve, SISU/Otium really are pushing the boat out

A geriatric younger than Gerard or Lampard. Come on you can do better than that.

So he's been backed, and the best he could manage is mid table mediocrity?

Without your heroes at the council we'd be how many points off the play offs? Please remind me?

3 points in the dizzying heights of 8th place in league 1

Do you consider that to be good for a club the size of CCFC?

Stevens choice in the close season to have a smaller tight knit squad.

The manager wanted shot because "our unsettled striker was being a disruptive influence" in the dressing room and a succession of mysterious and very convenient injuries.

If only Leon would have been that reasonable! Watched him at the weekend small fish in a big pond with no understanding or telepathy with any of his teammates, missed a sitter that he scored for fun with us and was regularly caught off-side (including the only time he netted). Also wore gloves throughout the 90 + minuets.

3 players came in!!!!!

Show me the fans charter than guarantees success. Our "size" is irrelevant. We are where we are.

He obviously had to do some juggling and get some wages off the bill (at least in part) with sending Barton and Daniels out so this is hardly major backing. That said, reasonably happy with the signings although thought the same with Delfeneuso, Donnelly and Akpom coming in which didn't quite work out as planned. Loans are always a big gamble and failure is the norm rather than the exception especially when scripting at the level we are.

I admire your optimism but if this is "on the up" it must be truly shite to be going downwards in your world.

PLEASE ADD THE 10 POINTS THAT WERE DEDUCTED! 8th HELP!

That's shit apparantly - we are a big club. Lets ignore clubs like forest and Leeds and also Southampton - they clearly aren't as big as us.

So when you've said before then that if more locals had backed the club over the years we wouldn't be in this mess, was that irrelevant?

Help? Its good to see your finally asking for it.

I will ask you the same question I asked Grendel:-

Do you think 8th in league 1 is good?

I must point out at this moment that I have no issue with SP.

So we are bigger than the likes of forest Leeds and Southampton who all failed to get promotion out of this division at the first attempt?

Jimmy Hill had six years as our manager and Cantwell five in charge, they both were eventually successful.Yet rarely do managers get that long these days, eighteen months is about the average.
Maybe the time for us to give a manager a decent run is now ?

No mixed messages, I suspect you have been unable to understand my quite clear message.

The reason SP could get us no higher than 8th in league 1 is because I would question the OP's view of SP being "backed"
