Why is it tinpot? Loads of clubs have corner/smaller sections.

It wouldn't be anywhere near as loud if it was at the other end of the stadium to the away fans.

The ideal scenario will be when they sort out the South Stand to allow home fans in.

For a team that regularly now gets over 20k, it is tinpot. If you've been to any good stadiums around the world, our set up occupying half a corner with a massive gap for segregation before an away team is given the whole behind a goal... It's poor.

We have enough fans willing to make noise, and a good size stadium. If you think it's really at its potential like it is set up at the moment then that's a massive shame.

We've had that corner in place for 15 years and it's never once come close to being an ultra section.

We've always had a drum, before most sides, and that's it. Not tifos etc.

No that was in 1984 - iirc it was Bobby Gould’s team and Raddy Avramovic and he hardly played for us again.

Inside the stadium, and only in the last few years, I'd probably just agree these days....

That said, the full matchday experience at HR was always 1000% better than the dull homogenous middle-of-nowhere retail park experience we have today......

Last ever game agasint Derby at HR for a start.
1983 when we beat Liverpool 4.0
Boxing Day 1992 when we beat Villa 3.0
Christmas time 1997 i think when we beat Man Utd 3.2
Boxing day again agasint Spurs early 90's.
In fact xmas games at HR were always a buzz.

I was not against a new stadium, would of preferred it nearer the city centre and a more unique design.that said the last few years is the first time it's felt like home, just hope we can keep all these fans constantly going to games

Most clubs have their most vocal fans besides the away end these days. Stoke moved their noisy fans from the famous Boothen end. Middlesbrough, Swansea, Leeds and Derby have great noisy ends next to the away fans.

The logistics is we can't put the away fans in the corner. If the main stand and the other side stand were swapped over then maybe. The only option would be to reconfigure the concourse and give the away section either 3k or 4.5k. Interesting that someone put on twitter the other day a picture of behind the goal against Gillingham when we had half the stand

Exactly. It's been done before and can be again.

We’ve had record season tickets the last 3 seasons. You cannot say we wouldn’t have made the play offs, you don’t know if Gyokeres would have been sold.

the fact is we started with 3k as a full attendance when NOPM started - before last season started we had 18k season ticket holders, this was before any play off charge or Gyokeres magic

NOPM was nothing more than an excuse not to go - as soon as the club started getting back to its feet, people slinked back as predicted. Up until this season SISU presided over record season ticket sales

Not an excuse for some , I know many people who did not go for a long time due to what Sisu did to the club, I didn't attend a home game for 6 seasons.

Safe standing would help, but it's tinpot to be a club our size and have half a corner like we do at the moment.

We could easily have a hard-core section behind one whole goal, but the problem seems to be making that close to the away fans.

I agree the segregation issues are tinpot, but the corner itself isn’t.

That corner probably has more fans in it than the seated West Terrace could ever hold

I appreciate that this wouldn't be ideal because of the Anecdote and the Casino, but I've never understood why you can't just give away fans the North Stand, or at least half of it. It's the worst stand in the ground because the sun gets in your eyes, there's loads of parking space behind there in Car Park A to ferry away fans in and out, and you could completely isolate the away fans from the home fans outside the ground if you wanted to - by sending home fans in the East Stand either south or north along the canal path. The other side you have the entire exhibition hall separating fans anyway.

You'd need some internal reconfiguration in the concourses in terms of segregation, but would it really be that difficult? It just seems so much simpler than having away fans in the South Stand, meaning you're causing congestion for home fans after the match as they can't access that area.

Agreed, and the away pubs are that side of the ground.

Unfortunately, the SAG do not trust Coventry fans. Even at Millwall a few weeks back, fans came together outside the away end and there were no issues.

We had a few problems post-covid and almost nothing since.

Yes, being close to the opposition naturally drives noise, I just think having a corner, then 'essentially' giving the away team 25% of the stadium (one of four sides) is extremely counter-productive and pretty tinpot.

Ideally you would swap the away fans with singers corner, create a hardcore behind the goal with some safe standing, which is still within heckling distance of the away fans. The problem is I can never see that getting approved. Having away fans within half a mile of the home support is bad enough for WMP and the SAG, so to have them boxed in by home fans either side is something I cannot see ever getting approved.

I'm a fan of giving away fans a big allocation. It enhances the overall atmosphere, the majority of the time. Harking back to Highfield Road again, the atmosphere was always better when the Sky Blue Stand had 3-4k away fans packing it.

Ideal situation for me would be similar to West Brom.... Split the end behind the goal half and half. Always think that provides a cracking atmosphere... and the away end can be extended around the Singers Corner for larger allocations....

Me too, when we can't fill it. The day we need 30,000 home fans, we'll find a way of giving them 2000 like other clubs at this level.

It's a decent revenue stream giving 4000. Let's be honest, since COVID, only Wrexham have come in big numbers and outsung us.

If we ever do get promoted to the premier league with sell out crowds, then the South Stand would be half home fans and half away fans, limiting away fans to 2.5k.

Move home fans into the South Stand to create a proper end and move the away fans into blocks 14, 15, 16, and half of 17 whilst leaving the relatively small 13 empty for segregation.

But it was cobbled together and never really worked. At least we are now seeing the ‘potential’ of this stadium beginning to shine through. For me, the home fans in 15/16 will determine whether we move The away fans should be in 14,15,16 and 17 At a push?
