Cheers dude. Like I said I really didn't wanna go but I remmeber being a kid quite vividly and it's horrible coming into school on Monday and all ya mates are sharing memories.
This all happened cos my.mates went to watch the film the faculty at odeon in city centre when I went to London for a wedding. Never truly got over it to be honest

It is quite clear that you don't like Wasps that you wish CCFC were doing what Wasps are doing.
The JSB do a great job. It could be better and CC4L is saying he wishes what he was exactky the same at Cov matches.
Nick's hatred for Wasps and the Council will mean any post relating to something they do good that CCFC need to match will get twisted.
FairPlay you also dislike wasps but it doesn't cloud your honesty. you see something they are doing better you have pointed it out.

If the day becomes a family day out that kids want to go to potentially you get 4-5 fans there instead of one or two. These people them spend more money on other things food drink parking. Of which we now get a share of. If Wasps do something and it is deemed a success let's not rule it out just because it's wasps.
The football for Coventry this season has generally been entertainment on its own. However the last few years it is not easy to get a kid excited when you take them to what was on offer (bar the northampton season because if Wilson mainly)
So making it an enjoyable family day out makes massive commercial sense.

Ha it isn't spin though is it? Where is it twisted? He didn't know ccfc did anything, they do at all so how can he see they are doing something better if he hadn't seen the ccfc stuff?
I get annoyed because it's quite clear how hard the volunteers work whether it's a lad giving a few hours of his day to play with the kids on fifa or the people who do crafts etc.
They don't get enough recognition at all. It's amazing how many people are oblivious to things like the jsb parties, I make a point of posting about them as well...
What do people expect city fans to do when they start coming on saying wasps do this, wasps do that but they dont actually know what is done at ccfc.
I will get defensive of stuff like sbitc or jsbs as they do a great job and don't get anywhere near the recognition.
It's threads like this where people pipe up without knowing the stuff that is actually done, and has been for years.

You are right they do a fantastic job.
However if Wasps do something better take it on board replicate it don't let them beat us and surpass them.
They are competing for the chikdren in the area. They are also going further afield. I spoke to a collegue at work today she and her husband are going. ( paying full price) because their kids have been some free deal Involving this set up. They are from Sutton coldfield.
I appreciate we will not be losing them as potential Cov fans. However Wasps are going full out on their marketing.
As much as it is great that you will defend anything CCFC and attack anything Wasps. We should play smarter and compete.

I haven't attacked wasps though have I? Have you read all my posts?
I get annoyed with the stuff like "oh they could at least send a player to see the kids". When players and ex players come to see the kids every week.
The difference is though, how many of the kids are passionate about wasps? How many treat the players as hero's? How many go home and pretend to be them in the garden?
Or do they look forward to going to go on the inflatables?
Compete, there were well over 500 kids at the jsb party, on a working day which I thought was great.
Wasps marketing is good, I have said that from the start. Their pr outlets are even better.

I have seen some of the work JSB volunteers do and will not knock it. But probably for a host of reasons not directly down to them, some of it seems amaturish.
SISU/the club have improved since their return to Rico and especially this season; seem more fan aware.
SISU do seem to not get it right first or send time though it often takes for or five attempts. They still need to work smarter. However shoestring doesn't equate to smart in any organisation. Everything seems to have temporary stamped all over it.
I have no first hand experience of Wasps but they do seem to market themselves well, even their move got a whimper of resistance (I joined their forum prepared to lead the revolt). We should not be shy about learning from them even if we don't want them here.
I feel we are progressing and have had some good deals for fans. But the club just does not seem to have any dynamic impact. Kids want to touch feel smell the experience. Going to matches and how they are received will shape where their loyalty will lie in the future.

went to wasps game saturday
now hear me out lol. my little nephew for free ticket from school and was desperate to go as all his mates were. his dad was working so couldnt take him. he phoned and asked me to take him and i said no and his disapointment was heartbreaking! after a few hours i rang him back and said ok cos family is priority
anyway it was free schools ticket,said £0.00 so i didnt cotnribute any money towards them and didnt buy a drink either(althoguh it was tempting)
anywhoo reason i post is because of a few observations
*rugby is a truly boring sport
*the atmosphere is very kiddy and familyish, i mean a choir under scoreboards compared to singers corner lads lol
*half the fans dont even watch the game
*drum band is annoying
ok so thats all good, ccfc clearly has nothing to learn ont he pitch
BUT
their kids zone was freaking impressive! set up in jaguar hall they have indoor rugby pitch(and somehow no injuries!) a penalty kick section(i put one right down middle) a tug of war game,a tackling game, kids club sign ups etc
plus a live band al wearing wasps kit and 3 bars for men to watch big screen rugby ont elly
i gotta admit this was impressive and left me envious. this is what ccfc should be doing, securing fans of the future whilst also making football better for families(alot of women in kidz zone after with their kids)
would be nice after a win if perhaps everyone didnt go home and instead let their kids have some fun whilst they enjoyed a pint
on flip side footy atmosphere is hostile and many fans cannot handle drink so security may be required even in a kids zone but i think its something the club should look into even if they dont own ricoh. i havnt seen out current kids zone,anyone know what they do there?
all i know is my nephew said wasp games are more fun than ccfc games aint they? after i slapped him silly i realised why he may have said that though. we need tos tep up our game!
nick if you could refrain from moving this thread to wasps board for a few hours,as it is aimed at ccfc fans to see how we can improve matchday experience.

They sent my daughter home with a flyer, thankfully she is young so she said she didn't like Wasps (the insect) and isn't fussed about Rugby. The playground was littered with them.
They have offered tickets a few times as well, I don't think they send them home. It is just if you want them go into the office type thing.

Somebody mentioned in an earlier post that Rugby attanednaces have grown year on year for a few years. That might have been so, but it has really plateaued as there is only so far you can take what is a marginal sport. I say this as a Rugby fan who has attended games at the Saints for a number of years
One of the reasons attendances grew is particularly due to well supported clubs, such as Saints and Tigers, increasing capacities, whilst a little more publicity as well as a successfull Lions tour, World Cup etc may have helped. It can only go so far though, and I fully expected wasps crowds to drop, which they have, I suspect they will plateau for a season and then drop again, as the novelty wears off.
It would be intertsing to see the actual figures of fee paying customers at Wasps as I think the figures will be considerably lower than people imagine.

I would actually say that the Sky Blues in the Community and JSB efforts are the best thing about the football club at present. When I was down over the summer they had a whole area around Cathedral Lanes with bouncy castle, penalty shootout etc, so they are doing the best with the resources available. Wasps own the ground and rugby fans are not restricted by the Thatcherite rules which apply to football fans so they have more resources and more leeway in what they can provide.
So while it isn't unreasonable to say 'well the club could do xyz as well', you have to put it into the context of what is within their capabilities.
