I see their idiot fans were kicking off with the police today, any chance of a points deduction for them? Almost certainly wont happen but would be a good way of stopping this sort of crap.

There is always two sides to a story. This is the Met after all

Fully concur with this . I had the met punching me in the back of my head and , pulling my hair at white heart lane. mind , big Cyrille scored the winner 0-1 all ended well .

Disagree, something must have provoked the police.

Keep your nose clean and you'll be fine, that's what I say.

Anyone remember them at the League Cup semi v West Ham? Animals, worse than any fans I've ever met.

I've got a few Millwall mates and go and what them every now and again, they are certainly passionate to say the least!!

Every club has their idiots but theirs is certainly higher but the majority aren't so bad. Agree with comments about the Met as well, they don't need much of an excuse.

Perhaps some see it as a badge of honor to keep up the traditions of mindless violence.

If you have a history for it, some want that fearsome reputation to continue.

I dare say psychologists will have tons of evidence why this is the case.

Wanting to be top dogs, the most hated by the rest of your peers.

...and I dare say a few Millwall fans are just as bad ;)

Been like that at Millwall since the 60s will never end, heaven forbid a two legged play off with them and an evening in New Cross, as for the Met. they love a ruck too

During the days of the sadly long lost Rivals website, I spent many an hour lurking on their major website, Millwall Online. It was like looking into a whole new dimension such was their addiction to being top dogs bar none. I think a lot of it was to with the strictly working class (and proud of it...) attitude they revelled in. The same mind set still very much exists and if anyone ever thinks they've been finally tamed..... then think on. It's always simmering under the surface just waiting for an excuse for them to go kick crap out of some unsuspecting fans.

Was the season Millwall played in the UEFA cup after losing the FA cup final to Manure who went into the Champions league. Millwall played away to Ferencvaros and the threads on Millwall Online made for disturbing, if ultimately fascinating, reading.

Prior to the game, 'Young 'Wall' turned up in number a day or so before the match but kept to small groups which were being easily picked off by the Fradi (the Ferencvaros firm). 'Old 'Wall' turned up a day later and organised everybody into one mass gang in the city centre and, in their own words, took the place over.... Too many different stories on their forum after the event to relate here but an old lady dying on a tube train through heart failure while it kicked off around her, stands firmly in my memory banks. Seems some of the Fradi, on the platform, started to kick the carriages and hurl abuse which made the Millwall lot pull the stop handle, force the doors open and chase after said Fradi.... Doors held open until they all had returned.

Millwall lost the tie and Ferencvaros were drawn against Hearts in the next round. Didn't stop some of them going up to Edinburgh to have another set to with the Hungarians.

Had an evening drinking with the MO website organiser in Norfolk (prior to a Norwich/Millwall Sunday game) He said there were 11 different firms following the team and not all of them saw eye-to-eye ! Not exactly a united front then. Gulp.....11 firms..... Back when I was a youth, they certainly had 3 that I knew about, namely The Medics (wore surgeons masks to hide identity), The F Troop and the Half Way Line. How many they have these days, Gawd knows, but being the most feared set of 'fans' is still uppermost, even amongst themselves.

I'm not condoning football related violence in any way, shape or form and even though CCFC has its few Biffo's, like any other club, I'm so glad we aren't anything like that particular club in SE London.

Remember when they played Birmingham in the play offs a good few years ago ? 2nd leg, post match, riot that filled the media for weeks after. Late Birmingham winning goal was the excuse apparently....

naive post of the decade

It's standard practice to be fair if I go to a football match and don't see a police officer walk into a peaceful unassuming crowd and punch someone for no reason, I am pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately that doesn't happen very often. Especially the Met they usually attack two people for good measure.

I think it's probably not common now but having known some one in the Met I could tell you some tales - one in particular that would ruin your optimism.

One of my best mates is old Wall so heard loads of tales. One of the reasons teams like Millwall get into bother is because they've created a 'reputation' and then all other teams (because everyone has a firm) want a pop at them which is why you hear about the supposed 'big' firms and trouble. However, Millwall differ slightly from most because they truely do not give a fuck about numbers, police or reputations. Looking forward to them coming here as they bring a good atmosphere.

Years ago I went to see Birmingham v Millwall at St Andrews, they were neck and neck at the top of the second division and this was last but one fixture of the season over 50000 there, not kidding about a 100 Millwall charged the Blues firm on their Kop and caused mayhem, Birmingham fans didn't know what was happening or the cops the Millwall mob spent about 5 minutes just picking off the Brummies, just think most of them are likely to be pensioners now. It will never end, it's in their blood.

haven't read or seen what happened today so cant comment , as for the met ,well was it not them driving round cov in plain transits in the 80s under the guise of the spg causing more grief than anyone. And was it not the met that came up to the miners strike and started most of the aggro

I can remember our fans firing flares into police horse riders backs, and overturned a police car down pork chop hill in my youth days as a supporter so we were pretty disgusting in the past

It's not only not common now it just doesn't hapoen now.
If any Bobby entered a crowd and attacked a person doing nothing. They would be all over social media before their third punch was thrown.
I know naughty things happened in the past. However it was very rarely happened to Ghandi (if you get my gist)

It does still happen. Some of them are still on a power trip. But it happens much less because of CCTV. The last time it happened to me was against Bristol City. Two police officers started on a couple of our younger supporters. I stepped into it and they went to arrest me. After a little debate they let me go. Saw another one but can't remember where it was about the same time.

It is worse on away days. But we have had the occasional problem in our own ground when banners were taken in.

It doesn't mean something doesn't happen because you don't see it.

They didn't lay into you.
For a Police Officer to arrest someone it's a pain in the arse these days. The amount of paperwork they will give you more lives than a cat.
If a Police officer uses a certain level of force on you then doesn't arrest you. Then questions would be asked.
