Don't forget the £700k we put in for the academy.And they could of course as they have 40% of a considerable revenue to cover:
Policing { minimal in this division }
Ticketing { Now largely farmed out for the fans to pay for it at Ticketmaster }
Stewarding { See police }
Marketing { Don't make me laugh }
Rent { a Pittance now }
Transport
Ancillary staff like physios, medics etc { All cut back by all accounts }
Accounting and legals { Don't get me started ?! }
Other staff wages { Don't get me started even more }
But the thing people have been getting angry about is this seasons budget being slashed, which it hasn't by Mowbrays own admission. So whichever he is referring to is largely irrelevant in terms of comparison between the two seasons.
Nobody has said solely have they?Don't talk such bloody sense, Nick and a few others want to find every way they can to lay all of the failings solely at the feet of the manager, and the last one and the next one after this and the next one after him.................
A couple of points. The assumption seems to be because the budget hasn't apparently been slashed we must still have an apparent top six budget. This assumption needs all other teams budgets to have stagnated as ours seem to have. Is that likely? I'd guess not. There's every chance that by standing still we have in fact gone backwards. There's no bragging of a top six budget this season. Is that because we haven't got one?
With regards to investment how much would actually need to be required? Could it be as simple as covering wages of new signings for May and June helping you get your first or second choice signings? In the big scheme of things that would seem small fry compared to the other gamble's our owners take with the club. Getting a couple of good early signings in might also give season ticket sales a big boost in July. That small investment might start paying back sooner rather than later.
I would be very surprised if our budget has slipped significantly lower than top 6. This is league one, most teams in the league don't have a pot to piss in. I would be very surprised if it has dropped that it has dropped any lower than 10th, certainly not bottom 4, which appears to the standard of squad hes put together.A couple of points. I wasn't suggesting it's bottom four but experience tells me that the lack of bragging is enough with our owners to conclude that our place in the budget league has slipped.
Ah so these guys were signed by luck or fluke??? Really!!?? Fuck me, give them some credit that they did some good work in getting these players in!Bullshit, when they signed people were asking why we were signing untested players, we got lucky that they turned out decent for half a season!!
Wow I've seen it all now. Criticising the manager for trying to sign good players!!!
It's not like we were targeting Messi and Neymar, it was Kelvin Wilson and Leon Clarke etc, not exactly unattainable.
The big screw up I think was getting rid of players before securing replacements.After reading this article I conclude that Mowbray & Venus made serious errors in their recruitment strategy. They tried to get premium players on a small budget and ended up settling for 3rd choice. <snip>
Didn't you read the article? He tried to sign six centre-halves so he had plans A, B, C, D, E and F.<snip> I have no problem with him going after top players but the lack of plan b is astounding. <snip>
If we didn't have any money why did he offer contracts to Ricketts and tudgay but not offer one to Martin or Phillips?
I just wish the club would hurry up and sack him , gives the "he has to go" threads a 12 month break before they re emerge
Again , he's the only manager to finish in the top 10 under sisu , why on earth do people think we can do better I do not know
Let's just ignore the council induced points deductions.

Essentially, we sold the donkey pulling our cart, expecting to buy a horse. Now we are stuck with a cart and no animal to pull it except an overweight goat.

I'm like most people on here when saying give credit when it's due... but are you telling us we're not allowed to vent feelings when signings are absolute gash?
Sorry SBK but not all the signings are gash, Mowbray and Venus and the scouts put hard work into scouting the players they want, some come off some don't. It was they this that Stu was talking about, the work that is put in.
Can you clarify how you have assessed them as gash? as forgive me for pointing out if you are NPOPM how have you seen any play. I am sure when you played you would have had a rant at fans if they came up to you telling you were shit when they hadn't even seen you play.
So you're saying that the majority of fans that go to games, and all say that, for instance, Ramage is shit, or Fortune is garbage, or blah, blah blah. are wrong ? Or aren't I allowed to form an opinion on what other fans say?
who said this because my post doesn't state this?? The comment was questioning why people thought that the good signings last year were luck and not judgement or good scouting??I'm like most people on here when saying give credit when it's due... but are you telling us we're not allowed to vent feelings when signings are absolute gash?
I think going to the OP and various ones after that attacking Venus and TM on the overall strategy hasn't worked, facts based on the positive signings last year and this year contradict those statements. As you said earlier give credit where credit is due but some on here will only pick up on the negatives rather than the decent players we signed over the last two seasons. Sadly we have let critical players go at the same time. No manager will have all great signings but I have faith in the recruitment network as we have never had access to this 'type' of player before and that is purely down to these two.So you're saying that the majority of fans that go to games, and all say that, for instance, Ramage is shit, or Fortune is garbage, or blah, blah blah. are wrong ? Jones
Reid
Vlad
Bigi
Turnbull
Are good signings
They just needed to be in a squad that included Martin and Vincelot
We also needed a goal machine.
