Keep getting mixed up with 10's and 20kg as the labels have worn off. Doing shrugs with 20s in place of the 10s has left me hurting this morning.

no photographic memory nick no lol? its all lbs here was hard switching over first now used to it.

No, but I soon knew about it trying to do it with 80 instead of 60. Couldnt do as many reps but felt good though.

Main worry was the bar slipping, need some gloves but without looking a twat.

dont get gloves get lifting strap better grip, you want the strap take weight off your fingers and wrist so your traps can take more the stress weight

Will have a look later.

Also loving the pull up crunches, started off struggling for 1 but at 8 or 9 now until I feel like I am going to shit myself.

i have sore back from shoulder press,i arch backwards too much. very angry at myself for risking my back so soon after it healed originally.

belt and lower weights from now on till form perfect

See your GP. Mine was like that for ageas and the littlest thing would set if off. Perfectly fine for weeks until this morning, booked straight in for physio, she assessed me for 5 minutes before asking what I've been doing as I've somehow caused major damage with the muscles in my back. In so much pain at the moment.

I know you know this but, protect your backs at all costs. Mine is fooked.

I have a degenerative back condition, and have had to change all my fitness to find things that don't cause pain, or set it off. I have discomfort daily, but there are plenty of things I can and have done exercise wise to keep fit, and have just worked round it as best I can. No free weights, only machines as they offer more support, and sadly had to give up running and change to cross trainers, with the occasional jog. Not what I wanted to do, but its what I needed to do, and am left with less injuries and better fitness.

If you want any advice on pain killers I have been on Codeine for years, as well as the anti inflammatory Naproxen, as well as omeprazole which counters the effect Naproxen has on your stomach (apologies if this is teaching you to suck eggs)

Hope your backs are better soon!

There's a group of us who train early so we tend to spot each other when needed.

That's not too bad if people can help and give you a bit of encouragement.

The bench where I go isnt the best so I don't dare go over 75 as I reckon it will end up on me :(

Is yours a boxing gym or just normal?

I go to a place in Hove called Cheetahs...it is a spit and sawdust gym from the 70s...it also has a boxing gym attached to it as well. I also have a Pure gym membership for £20 that I sometimes use as well.

I have managed to get myself stuck under the bar a couple of times...it isn't fun ;)

Think I prefer the spit and sawdust sorts!

It is probably the best gym I've ever been to and you don't get people staring at themselves in the mirror. People also tend to respect each other and don't come up and ask to 'jump on' half way through a set.

That pisses me off. Always get someone come up and say how many sets you got left mate?
As many as I fucking feel like you prick!

nah not at all. nothing wrong with asking how many sets left. if the guy says 5 then you either ask to jump in alongside(if weights dont look too dissimilar to what you will be doing anyway) or you restructure your order of excercises for the day.

No weight lost again but looking better. Slimer at the waist. Seen my physio again, she asked me out this time. To which of course I said yes.
Good lad, you planted the seed and let her chase. ;)

Went to Pure gym the other day and someone actually came up and just started at me and waited while I was on my first set and started looking at his watch. I gave him my best Roy Keane stare and he went off and did the same to someone else.

In fairness Moff, your jog is probably my sprint. I play 5-a-side twice a week, and try to go out for a run or a ride on at least one other day, and I'm still getting fatter! I know that inside me though is a finely tuned athlete just busting to get out and shine. Possibly two. :)

What a big bunch of women you are with yer fancy exercise etc. According to my Fitbit I walked 16,972 (7.73 miles) steps on Sunday and burnt 4,677 calories being up on it til 6am. Who needs gyms!

I did about the same, however I also probably drank the calories in beer and ate it when raiding Sainsburys by Euston.

What's the best way to tone up around the stomach and top of legs?
