So you don't want a captain with a big gob that isn't afraid to use it? The same player that was captain for Division 4 champions last season?

Or have you forgotten about getting relegated again? ;)

Big gob? The same gob that cost him his teeth a few years back? The same gob that (probably) got him subbed last season that the Pompey fan referred to earlier? Doesn't sound a very influential gob to me.

Yes he might have been their captain but doesn't mean I want him as ours. It's clear I don't even want him here :emoji_joy: (or at least I hope I've made that clear!)

As for relegation, I definately know that. After what I endured last season, it was never going to be anything but!

So would you prefer a captain to be quiet or not want to offend or wou you prefer a captain like Doyle?

It had better be. I am really feeling confident about next season now.

I'm not feeling confident we will bounce back yet, we need a lot more work but with more players with drive and spirit I can't see us going down.

Definitely a good sign that Robins is clued up on what we need to compete

Sw is always so placid and polite, Doyle is back and he's going all sky blue kid on us! :)

Today is a bad day!!

I'm hoping that the signings that follow (just our luck on deadline day although if others have it their way it'll be tomorrow :p) make up for it otherwise my posts may never be the same again :emoji_angry:

I haven't had the private message inviting me to be knocked out yet.

I couldn't fight my way out of a paper bag; I think you're safe ;)

Nor do I fancy myself as a keyboard warrior. Just a pissed off fan; reckon this new me will fit in just fine :D

Not at all! Would make a nice change to have a confident captain whose not afraid to bollock his team mates, in the right manner.

Just don't see him as being that player.

Happy to admit st the end of the season if I've got him all wrong. Just don't think it'll be happening! :D

Doyle was poor as a championship player.

He's not a hard man - he actually never tackles. He's high energy and harries opponents

You know as an old player he's not here for an easy time - he's clearly professional and looks after himself.

Baker was rubbish as a championship player so players can succeed at levels they are capable in

So he could work out.

I could apologise. But I won't

Roll on august and I'll be back to my usual, typo-ridden commentary and won't have time to insert an emoji here :) or there ;)

You''re a good guy, we all appreciate your comentaries.

Indeed! A bit like the one who we just got relegated with-Willis is a poor player and captain.

I'll have the same. You will be paying up well before the end of the season.

It won't be well before the end of the season it will be 3/4 of the way through, if I end up paying up at all.
I take it you are accepting the proper bet as it was laid down and not squirming like Fern and trying to wriggle out of it. Saying injuries don't count.

Great signing by the club!

Two full seasons for a strong League 2 side in which he was captain and rejected a deal to come back here.

Welcome Mr Doyle, whilst I didn't rate you at times you bring the passion and bite that we have severely lacked for a long time!

Bet our odds have shortened now signing the captain of the winning league 2 team from last season

No he only captained the league 2 champions clearly a shocking signing...[/QUOT

As I said for me, you obviously have a different opinion. Feel free to bump this in 12 months. Sorry but this signing holds no excitement for me, in fact it sets alarm bells ringing.

If he plays 75% of the league games I win. If he plays less you win.

Easy money. Not lost a bet on here yet. So will add to my list of wins :smug:

Are you doing a Mowbray and aiming too high? If he wasn't up to this level he wouldn't have played nearly every game in the last two seasons that he was with Portsmouth. And they wouldn't have gone up as champions if their captain wasn't up to it.

They said that they wanted him to stay. Most of their supporters wanted him to stay. But there was no contract on the table yet. He got one offered by us and didn't want to miss out on it. He is a player that has been lucky with injuries. How often have we ended up with sicknotes? Robins knows what type of player we need.

If anything he could be better for us than Portsmouth. He was travelling from the Midlands all the time. Now he won't be spending many hours each week travelling backwards and forwards. He will have more quality time with his family. And we know that he isn't just after a paycheck like many we have had.

So what is anyone's problem with him other than he never set the Championship alight? He won't be up against any Championship players in Division 4. Not worried about his age. He seems fitter than anyone we have had for years. I would say since Wise. And we all know how old he was.

Some people seem to be in for a surprise on the quality of Division 4 football. It won't be pretty at times. I wouldn't mind another Doyle type of player to play alongside him as a link between defence and midfield. 3 big fookers at the back. 3 more in midfield with at least 2 who like going forward and 2 strikers who can score goals at our level. It would be fun at this level.

He must be taking a huge paycut to join us again given that he was on $2,456,786 a week when he was with us.

*One for the ex-GMKers
*Australian keyboards don't have a pound key so I have converted the salary to Australian dollars
It can't be an Australian keyboard. All the words are the right way up.

Now that's how to make a charity bet.
No billy big bollocks calling people tits. Then bottling it. When a charity bet is challenged
Fair play.
Had a difficult one last season. Was on goals scored by a certain player. But cup goals were not allowed if the club played another team below them. Fair play though he paid up. Sent me the receipt for the payment when I never asked for it. Someone else took the bet and never paid. Not good on a charity bet.

Bloody Hell Not the Doyler!

He was a symbol of our decline for years and that partnership with Hughes-meh!

I'll not judge him until the season starts but REALLY are there no other destroyer types that are in their late twenties?

Taking a 35 year old is a massive gamble. What a statement by Robins....

Doyle wanted to come back to CCFC a couple of years ago as he never moved out of the midlands. Same scenario with Baker I think I last year? Wanted to come back to CCFC.

Fact is he captained a promotion winning team in L2 this year. He's obviously kept himself in good shape and might not have the all action high energy game he used to play but he will be one of those wiley type players you need.
