Yeah, been a little surprised at McDonald's level of footballing skills. He's no nonsense but you can see that some of his clearances are at tmes very deliberately targeted to try and reach a team mate and he also seems to gave a calm reassurance about him.

Really impressed with him thus far and an obvious contender for captain in Doyle's absence.

Agreed. I thought he'd be a bruiser winning everything aerially and smashing the ball into row Z at the whiff of danger, whilst Willis mopped everything else up. Yet, he's composed on the ball and clearances have met teammates. One of, if not my favourite signings so far.

I imagine Kelly is our VC, and McDonald 3rd choice I think. I rate Willis, but it speaks volumes about our squad from last season if he was captain and is probably 3rd-4th choice leader this year.

I still think they are keeping a safe distance from the footballing side of things. Windfalls from the Cup win, Thomas' exit and shedding a lot of deadwood have allowed Robins to use the budget how he sees fit.

I agree with you that promotion would greatly strengthen our position with Wasps, as well as adding to the coffers for a proper tilt at League 1. Let's not be premature though...
Delay spray all round ?

Anyone know the pronounciation of the surname? Is it "Andrew" or "andrUH"

For a lot of Coventry fans it will be pronounced heisshit!!

I am not saying he is.

The best compliment I can give Robins with his summer transfer business and the squad he's put/putting together is that I'm gutted I didn't renew my ST but I'll reevaluate the situation in the new year for the promotion party!

On paper yes. Let's see how they go on the grass. Plus lets hope lady luck shines on us....fingers crossed and all that.

Its strange really, the very strategy that got us relegated, is now probably going to get us promoted. TM & MV going for higher division players last summer (unsuccessfully) is being done right by MR

I think the recruitment strategy is drastically different under TW and MR compared to MV and TM.

This summer we've identified free agents who fit the budget, are proven in this league, willing to play and are mentally strong characters.

The last two summers were heavily reliant on youth loans from premiership academies and old players of TM from previous clubs on the slide with there careers. Few were tried and tested in L1, and crucially lacked leadership and personnel mental strength.

Recruitment is poles apart thankfully this time around.

Agreed. It's well worth getting in these talented youngsters, but they should supplement what you currently have, instead they made up the bulk of our starting team. Had we hedged our bets elsewhere and built a squad of L1 players, perhaps we wouldn't have got relegated. But that's irrelevant at this point.

Really happy we've got in 12 players, with only one being a loan and another on non-contract terms. It will hopefully give us some continuity for next season and beyond, regardless if we get promotion or not. I am bullish about season chances though.

For as long as I remember our recruitment appeared to be set up from the league below now its getting to the point where we seem to have a team capable of playing in a higher league ...let's hope it gets us promotion at last

Well that's what you want. You want players that you feel can take you forwards and also then compete at a higher level too.

Think it really depends on Robins staying

I imagine after his first spell, he'd stay. I can't imagine many L1 sides having the appeal for him to leave, and we're in too low a division for a Championship side to take a punt. Watch me be wrong though...

Seems to have vanished off the face of the Earth.

Pretty much since that forum at The Albany club.

Around the time of relegation being confirmed, the club put out a statement saying the new CEO would be front and centre on banging the drum for the club.

Boddy appointed. Radio silence.

Classic SISU. Acknowledge the crap communication, pledge to do better, then do nothing and stay silent thus perpetrating the original problem. He is invisible and i wonder what he is paid for.

We all know that this guys a total waste of time and useless. Even on the evidence of no communication at this earliest stage of his stay here and his past working history shows the guys a plank.

Give him till Xmas and he'll be gone.

One day SISU and Wasps will be gone and we'll piss ourselves laughing that we had people like this near the club.

Great signing!

I have a suspicion that Maddison has something to do with this. A player of his quality would normally command a fee. Maybe we've waived x or y clause in order that Norwich release him.

All this positivity is great. Watch slade beat us now.

The best news is that all the new signings are on 2 year deals so they either have value at the end of the season or we have a settled squad for next pre season. Out of the eleven signings if eight are a hit then MR and TW have done very well.
I think Biamou is going to be to light weight for League 2, but impressed with rest so far.

They already have. Took us at 11/1 and 10/1. Now down to 8/1. Only so high as Luton have dropped to 3/1. The money is going on them. Were 9/2 a couple of days ago.

That price will fluctuate with Luton, plus Birmingham are interested in there striker Isaac Vassell which will weaken there strength in strikers.

Another win for us and we could end up a much closer 2nd favourite over the weekend
