Have to say, I draw the line at a dog bowl. Conjures up so many images in my sub conscious and turns my stomach just a little just thinking about it, even though I know it has never been used for a dog (well you would hope not anyway).

Just stuck my head in the Slug and Lettuce and it looks a lot better. Very bright, almost seems more open and a good use of the garden area.

A welcome addition if it has learnt from the Establishment and gets its service right.

There used to be the one behind the banks but not sure if still there. (only small)

Ermm, you never heard of on street parking?

Salt Lane car park is still there behind the banks and has been extended, so not too small at all and you can park on street right by the council house, unless a 30-45 second walk is an inconvenience to you of course.

Lots of on street parking available nearby. Free after 6pm too.

Haven't been there for a while, this one? Used to be decent for when you are going out but driving.

Didn't even know you could park outside the council house, would never have thought of trying there.

Would probably have gone swimming baths and walk through the cathedral to save pissing looking for a space, especially if I was hungry.

Yeah that would probably be the one to get there just for Cathedral Lanes (meant if not one that I'd use swimming baths).

I once saw an English shop in Florida selling all the stuff ex pats couldn't get over there.
One window was just a display of Heinz baked beans! Can't remember the cost per tin but I do remember it was expensive.

I used to walk 3kms in Italy just to buy some.

Again you make something up with zero statistical back up. If you bother to look at city centre footfall many cities are showing significant increase with many having significant investment.

I’m just shooting shit on an Internet forum, not presenting policy FFS. I dont have footfall data to hand, it’s usually proprietary. But looking at Coventrys from 2011, it’s higher than 2016 though not by much. Both around 600k.

Having a quick look at Leeds it’s hard to tell as they changed their collection methods and only go back to 2008. If you’ve got better data I’d love to see it (I need it for work anyway)

So I have to base it on anecdotal experience in Cov which is that it’s quieter than it was.

Also: LOL at you of all people demanding evidence based thinking.

Baked Beans are one of the greatest inventions of all time in my opinion and that's coming from someone who doesn't like beans at all, be it kidney, broad, lima, pinto, cannelloni and haricot (yes, I know, I know!!).

Coventry people are obsessed with parking. Salt Lane car park is about 2 minutes away.

Well here I am in sunny Yeovil walked woo metres along the main street of a town no bigger the Nuneaton.
Have seen numerous closed shops, smashed Windows in others and 4 lots of homeless people.

I'm sure this only happens in Cov?
Oh and they have a Primark

Went up by the CWR building at Priory Place the other day, first time in a while. Had become a bit desolate and quiet around there, so it was really nice to see nearly all the units open again once more.

Now has PGR (pizza restaurant), Han Dynasty (Chinese) and now also a Japanese restaurant and then also a Korean restaurant. The Korean restaurant seemed particularly vibrant and a bit busy. This was at around 6pm on Friday. Anyone been? Fancy trying it myself, as I have have never had Korean food before.

Also worth noting that Twisted Barrel are moving into much bigger premises at Fargo Village soon, so it must be proving popular.

And on talking about novelty and quirky, a new cafe is opening in Corporation Street, called Jam Jar, where desserts are served out of .....well yep, jam jars.

I think they are mostly sundaes from what I can see. I don't think they do cakes in a jam jar.

There's one in Brum and it has very good ratings, so we will wait and see. Will probably be popular with students, especially with it being right next door to Study Inn in Corporation St.
