You've shown the evidence yourself. It lists some of the amendment in your own link. There is even Links within your link to the amendments, It talks about dates when further agreements have been made, It talks about dates when agreements end, it talks about Indian and Chinese immigrant rights between the UK and Ireland, amendments that have just come into force in the last 2-3 years. Please tell me this is an act, you really not that stupid that you post up links that discredit yourself and you don't even realise.
Just making out your own story again because you can't just say that it is from a daily rag.

So what changed with 7/11 as you say? What is different now?

you talk so much shit it's unreal.

"No, he's just braver than you."

"There are so many people that voted remain because they were pussies and cowered to threats made by the government and mainstream media."

"Remain being the safer and also in some cases, the more cowardly option."

you utter dickhead!

I have been called a wanker, buffoon, fucking prick, utterly bonkers etc etc for daring to point out that the whole thing is not going as smoothly as promised. I find that insulting, but it is not cowardly for me or others to stand up to these keyboard warriors and continue to call them to account.

They then have the cheek to portray themselves as victims whilst posting Breitbart propaganda.

Poor white Nationalist Christians.

I am neither envious nor jealous of people making an ill informed choice and then complaining that it is remainers in the government that are screwing Brexit up.

Much of what is happening was pretty obvious to anyone who cared to look past the immigration figures.
There’s a fine line between bravery and stupidity. Fernando crossed it. Nothing brave about what he did.

Whilst a lot of what I said is true, the reason I did that post was to illustrate what it is like being a leave voter. Derogatory statements, insults, and harassment have become a part of common life. As can be seen from your responses here, it is also clear to see that remainers don't like it when they are given the same treatment back.

Mart, why are you obsessed with Breitbart? I've barley seen anyone post anything related to them.

What proof?

That we need to be able to prove that we are from the UK and everyone else needs a passport at least?

That’s the now, here and today. I know what you need to travel to the island of Ireland now, I also know what you didn’t need years ago having been a frequent traveler for over forty years, times change and they’re going to change again. The systems currently in place aren’t the same systems that were in place in the 1920’s or even the 1970’s, 80’s or 90’s. They’ve changed several times and for several reasons. As things tend to do.

Including many being in the UK that shouldn't be.

If you have ever looked on the religion thread you will know that I qualify for an Irish passport. My family used to be Catholic. I have explained why they are not now.

What makes you think I don't go to Ireland? My next visit is in about a month or so.

You are being obtuse, it isn't an insult. Why don't you read back through what Tony has said.
And someone show the sightest bit of evidence that you need to show evidence that you are from the UK because of 7/11.

This thread is full of bullshit and others backing up the bullshit.

You either prove where you are from or show a passport. They already have your address from when you book your travel. Everything changed qith the freedom of movement. But let's not get the truth in the way of a good story about 7/11

I am not obsessed with Breitbart, but others such as Captain Dart are. I was first introduced to Breitbart by my namesake in Texas ( real name) a while ago as he posts crap from them on his FB. The distortions are now sneaking in on here. The narrative is clear and similar to Trump‘s.

The point is not that you have to show where you're from when flying between the British mainland and Ireland, it's that you have to show who you are. Likewise, when I got an internal flight in the UK, I had to show photo ID to show who I am, it wasn't about proving my right to cross any border. Some airlines have their own specific ID requirements though, Ryanair only accept a passport as means of photo ID but again this is not necessarily to prove that I have the right to travel between the UK and Ireland.

I am not sure what a chain of convenience stores has to do with anything either.

Is the UK government site good enough for you?

Entry requirements - Ireland travel advice - GOV.UK

Ireland, along with the UK, is a member of the Common Travel Area. British nationals travelling from the UK don’t need a passport to visit Ireland. However, Irish immigration officers will check the ID of all passengers arriving by air from the UK and may ask for proof of nationality, particularly if you were born outside the UK. You are therefore advised to take your British passport with you.

Pity we didn’t get ID cards which fit in your wallet and you always have with you. Things would run smoother and immigration control would be easier.

Whose idea was it to scrap the idea?

FFS. For the last time. Security tightened after 9/11 full stop. You can’t even fly from Newcastle to Birmingham without photo ID these days, that can be a modern driving licence, a passport or even a bus pass. My mother fly’s to Ireland now on her bus pass as she’s retired. After 9/11 before she retired she had to apply for her first ever passport so she could continue to fly to Ireland, she doesn’t drive so doesn’t have a driving license and has now let her passport expire as she has a bus pass.

When we used to travel by ferry we used to travel on tickets only, that was regardless of whether we went Holyhead to Dublin, Holyhead to Belfast, Liverpool to Dublin, Liverpool to Belfast or Indeed Stranraer to Larne. We did this mainly as walk on up until I was around 14 years of age after that we started flying as the cost was starting to come down, the last few times we went by ferry we drove on as we had bought a car. That was two adults, three children and on two occasions a dog. Non of us had passports, non of us had photo ID and traveled perfectly legally. The only person who would have had any sort of ID was my dad who would have had on the occasions we drove on his old paper type driving license and maybe a bank or credit card. All of which had no photo ID on them.

Again the rules have changed many times since the 1920’s you are only referring to the current version of it not historical versions. Again if you read the links that YOU provided it makes this abundantly clear and in some cases even provides a link to the amendments. It’s not 1920 anymore, the legislation and agreements started almost 100 years ago and have been amended, you’re just reading the current, that word again, current version of them. The details of the current arrangements are not being disputed, it’s just being pointed out to you that they haven’t always been that way. Something you’re struggling with despite linking the information that tells you this yourself.

Your point was to back up Tony the Tory on saying that you needed to show ID when going to Ireland because of what happened in America. This was just after saying how wrong he was on other things. Then you tried to insult me.

Neither of you have come out with any proof whereas I have backed up everything I have said. Even with information as official as you can get. It showed you to be 100% wrong on checks of where people are from.

How about a simple question for the truth twisters then.

If it was brought in because of terrorist atrocities whilst planes are in flight why do they wait until the planes have landed to do the checks?

But you can't have both. You either have border controls or you retain the open border between NI and ROI. That's where the border between the UK and EU will be.

But that's the point. You say when you go to those counties there is a big queue. What about the 35K people who work on the other side of the border to which they live. Are they all expect to queue up twice a day?

No I said there was a big queue once in S Africa when there was a strike at passport control. Most you breeze through with nothing at all. The biggest problems I’ve seen are Paris and Birmingham closely followed by Amsterdam.

Do you think travel to the continent will be easier after Brexit?

not one vote cast in the EU referendum for either outcome was an act of bravery or cowardice stop being a drama queen!
We weren't voting in Kabul. We weren't being spied on by the Taliban or dodging EDIs on the way to the polling station.

There have been insults thrown around but that's about it. You may like to think of yourself as some oppressed revolutionary but you just sound like a right wing version of Rick from the young ones!

You go to non-EU countries and never have to show a passport or go through immigration? That doesn't sound right. If you're saying you go though but its quick that's not the point is it. Doesn't matter how quickly they process people its still putting a border between NI and ROI.

My point is you have to show passports when you are in Paris and Amsterdam and it’s far far worse.

Who said from North to South? Making it up as you go along again. You don't need a passport as I said but you need photographic proof to be safe. So most already take their passport as I said.

Common Travel Area between Ireland and the United Kingdom

Do you still want to try and prove me wrong yet again and fail?

And yet again someone is wrong and Mart agrees with them.

You need a passport to fly into Dublin airport from the UK.

Can't disagree. Have flown in with both Flybe and Ryanair and you have to use a passport with both as their rules say so. But legally you don't need to. But as I said earlier I always take mine. Best proof of who you are.
