The DUP won’t let us leave in different areas. The leave vote will apply to the whole of the UK. Yesterday proves they won’t accept anything less. I happen to think that’s good news for the UK and within hours sturgeon was asking for special treatment in Scotland. It won’t work.

TM and the conservatives not getting a majority at the last election has pidgeon holed herself and the DUP having as much power as they do for just 10 mps is holding the government to account for the leave vote. I fear if she did get the massive majority she wanted she would of gave the EU everything. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Ironically if she never held an election she would of still had a majority and could of done what she wanted.

I want a Labour government. But he has a past that would stop millions voting for him.

The Tories are in the biggest mess for a very long time. The only thing they are strong in is the bad things. They were there for the taking. But they still nearly got the majority.

If Corbyn has to be leader he needs to bring in stronger MP's. But he has stuck with long term friends. And they also have questionable pasts.

But oh yeah I am supposed to forget about the negatives and hope they pull it off next time. But the priblem is the Tories will get stronger. They can get rid of May after Brexit and put someone strong in her place if it goes wrong. If it goes well people will vote for her. Whereas Labour would still have Corbyn.

Does that fill you with confidence?

The more I think about the border issue the harder I find it to see a solution. What are the options?

ROI leaves the EU and joins the UK - no chance

NI leaves the UK and remains in the EU - I'm far from an expert on Irish politics but surely no chance, especially in the short term

Hard border between NI and ROI - no chance, ROI don't want it therefore the EU won't accept it

Soft border between NI and ROI - easy to implement as its what we have now but in no way could that be claimed to be 'taking back control' which was a key issue in the referendum. How do you stop goods and people crossing a soft border? You can't, it might as well not be there

Move the border to between Ireland and GB - DUP have said they won't accept this which means their arrangement with the government ends and the government likely collapses. You also then have to deal with Scotland who also voted remain. How can you make an exception for NI but tell Scotland they can't have similar. If you say they can the border problem moves to England / Scotland

There doesn't seem to be a solution which is practical, acceptable to NI and ROI and the rest of the UK.

Why would the government collapse? They nearly have the majority without them. They would only lose out on anything where everyone voted against what they want to push through.

Pretty much a agree on all that.

There won’t be no hard border. It will remain pretty much as it is now and they will get round it somehow. Could even be the wording changing.

Not everyone. A few rebels from within her own party could be enough to stop brexit in its tracks. Or anything else that Labour and Lib Dem’s don’t agree with. She’s in an unprecedented position not seen since the 70’s and we all know what a mess that was.

Regulatory alignment across the whole UK (after all we do all trade with the EU), might solve problems to come though it has its own problems.

Both parties are split on Brexit. The only party not split on Brexit is the one formed to get it.

The Tory leader who is in charge of us leaving is a remainer. The leader of Labour has always wanted out. Labour will want the opposite to the Tories. The Tories want the opposite of what is happening. Of course it is a mess.

Excuse me. What have I denied that remain lost, and when have I blamed Russia? - although I am sure there are anti EU troll farms out there. Earlsdon posted things from an Alt-Right, Populist, National Socialist, democracy sceptical organisation which has a troll farm in Tallinn.

Denial is when a starry eyed leaver tries to paint a rosy picture whilst Brexit begins to go pear shaped.

Maybe you should use a dictionary to check your spelling? Start with the word „dictionary“. It would make you more convincing.

As regards ageing, I have anecdotal evidence. We had a family house. Mum, dad and 3 kids. My mother is 87 and lives alone as dad is dead and we live elsewhere. How many old people live alone in houses for families? I have to believe the proportion is growing which ties up housing.

Off the scale? I tell you what is off the scale. Having a mass influx of migrants from third world countries committing crime across the board. To add milk and sugar to this, you have the governments in places like Sweden trying to cover this up, and people like you both, who are either too naive to realise what is going on, are in deliberate denial. Why the point about third world migrants though. Again, this thread is about the EU. Sweden has always been a haven for refugees and none of this has been forced upon it by the EU. If you want to have an anti migrant thread then make one but your points have absolutely nothing to do with what is being discussed here.

I'm more concerned with the horrendous increase in crime in the UK and Coventry in particular.
Down to cuts if you ak the police but I'm sure the Tories will get their usual pass or it's Corbyns fault.

Why should Ireland follow the act of self-harm that the UK is undertaking? Ireland has massive support for continued EU membership.

Since moving to Cov from Portsmouth 18 months the lack of visible policing has been really noticeable. It was rare for a day to go by without seeing the police in Portsmouth, there were foot patrol and police cyclists. I don't think I've seen a single officer on the beat here.

Isn't some of that to do with West Midlands Police undertaking their own reorganisation (with the typical Birmingham focus) and downgrading Little Park Street?
