Our loyalty scheme was changed at the start of this season to make it fairer and caused a lot of discontent amongst some on our forum. In short you get points dependant on how long you had a ST in Amex era and then STH also get points for each away game, graded on how popular it is ie. Man Utd away was 5 points whereas Stoke away this weekend is 15 which is the maximum. We also get points for buying for home cup games, the game against you is worth 10 points. I think it works really well and means regular travellers get the tickets for the glamour games

Who gives priority?...A club that regularly sells out at away games and is dealing with small allocations Nick. Take Leeds, for games with small allocations, like Sheffield Utd Away. This is from their website:

Away Tracker System

Any games with a low allocation will be allocated by our away attendance tracker system.
Approximately 4 weeks before the fixture, Ticket Services will make an announcement via www.leedsunited.com confirming the deadline dates to apply and all details including the number of away games that fans must have attended in order to qualify to apply for a ticket. Tickets for these games will be allocated to those fans who have attended the most away games irrespective of Membership package.

I’m not saying ST shouldn’t get anything, I’m saying we need to bring in an away points system to make sure away tickets are fairly distributed to those that do actually travel to away games.

The Members allocation will be sold in the following order of priority; Gold Members & International Members then Silver Members (subject to availability)

In the event that any tickets remain out of the Season Ticket Holder's allocation, then these will be released to Gold Members & International Members at the start of their period along with their 20% Members allocation. In this case, Season Ticket Holders will be able to purchase a ticket during the Members period. Should the Season Ticket Holders 80% allocation sell out, then Season Ticket Holders will not be able to purchase tickets during the Gold & International Members period.

It still doesn't get around buying a normal ST, which is the point being made.

Are you simple? It still requires a home season ticket to be eligible in the first place.

Interesting debate, well whilst it was civilised! The club throughout this process have made one thing clear, get a ST and you will be looked after. The money goes into the club whereas away we get nowt.

Although I agree ST holders with away games should get a priority, I doubt anyone considered we would get this far!

What people seem to forget in this debate is that there are plenty of season ticket holders who didn't get tickets today. The simple fact is more people wanted to go than there were tickets, that's life. As for this away points system I would have thought that is to ensure those who regularly attend away league fixtures get priority for away league games, cup ties are a different kettle of fish, and in the later rounds will always be over subscribed, priority then surely has to go to season ticket holders who are the lifeblood of any lower league team.

This is a bit unfair. I live in SE London and the travel to and from home games is just not viable along with work commitments etc. I do go to any game that I can, when ever I can. I've been to every away game anywhere near me that I can: Gillingham on freezing Tuesday nights (what an awful stand BTW!), Charlton, Millwall, westWHam, Crystal Palace, Torquay, Exeter (folks live in Devon), Tottenham, Arsenal and the Checkatrade trophy Final. I go to any home game I can get to, which isn't a lot. But I resent the idea that just because I don't have a season ticket I'm in some way not a true sky blue.

I didn't say you weren't a 'true sky blue' and I was in the same situation when I lived in that part of the world but the fact of the matter is people who have a season ticket should have priority over everybody else. I don't get what the fuss is about. Like I said, 4.5k season ticket holders, 2 per person at a 4.5k allocation, I'm not losing any sleep at people who missed out.

I don’t think you can win with these things tbh. All about demand, apart from the FA cup games, we don’t get many glamour ties. The ironic issue for us is that league two stadia is too small!

In response to feedback from supporters and discussions at last week’s Supporter Advisory Board meeting, West Ham United will be trialling a new method for away ticket sales to allow more Season Ticket Holders and Claret Members the opportunity to follow the Hammers on the road.

The new system will see ten per cent of every away allocation reserved for our 52,000 Season Ticket Holders and Claret Members to purchase on a first come, first served basis, once the first 90 per cent of the allocation have been allocated as standard by Season Ticket Holder Priority Points.

They save 10% for normal season ticket holders or members who haven't got any priority points.

It's pretty obvious most would need a ST or membership (up front sign up) as a minimum to prioritise which is the point I'm making rather than just giving people who haven't done either priority.

Don't doubt clubs will say that season ticket holder A has done 15 away games so they get first dibs over season ticket holder B who has done 4. It wouldn't make sense to say non ST holder who has been to 10 games gets priority over ST holder who has been to 2. In fact you probably wouldn't get tickets to most without a ST in the first place.

Can you imagine the constant outcry if we had a points system in place. I should have more points, I went to FGR and it rained and we lost I deserve extra points, I went to this game and my mate didn't so he doesn't have the allocation so we can't go to this game together. We only have this problem because we're in league 2 and the stadiums are tiny (which I warned about at the start of the season and was given the old 'super fan' crap) and because we're on a cup run. We've had no issue at all for years. Why would the club introduce a points system when we have 6,000 home fans turning up to games at times. Just give that lot the tickets and be done with it which is basically what's happening.

The discussion is about non st holders who go away getting priority over st holders who dont.

I'm hardly asking you to name them who do it amongst ST holders, as I had already posted Brighton do it like that and I said it was fair.

What's the common theme? They all need to have a season ticket in the first place to get priority over non ST holders. Which was my point from the start, I posted this at about half 5:

How many did we take to Carlisle, Swindon, Stevenage etc etc etc how many are we taking to Colchester, Wycombe. The teams you've mentioned sell out their allocations to all games no matter what. We don't so what's the point. If you're desperate to see city away go to Colchester.

No, all the pubs by the station are strictly home only. Weatherspoons and Yates at bottom of West Street (approx 8-10 min walk) accept away fans. Alternatively if you are not wearing colours you will be ok in the many pubs around the city that are not in immediate vicinity of the station.

Yes, it does to have any hope of a ticket for OT, Emirates, Anfield etc. but a non STH who goes to the away games that make general sale (not many this season) can build up points which occasionally come in useful.

i read the basketmakers is ok..tucked away down a back street but quite close to the station? or is it the best idea just to head up to the ground and drink inside....are th e trains difficult to get on the later you leave it?..and tks for all the info so far

Exactly - it ridiculous that people are moaning. Every season everyone knows that the best way to get a ticket to big games is being a season ticket holder. There no big conspiracy, the club haven’t got this wrong.......... it’s just tough shit. If you’re not a ST holder then I’d suggest to buy a fucking ST next season.

Seriously why do people think that 2 per ST is a problem. They obviously are valued more than any other fan to CCFC so they will be rewarded by the club.

Loads have missed out,my ST holder mate who gets me away tickets also missed out. I think it’s pretty shit that ST holders failed to get a ticket can’t go where as 2000 people who don’t normally go are. I didn’t expect a ticket but feel for my season ticket holding mate who hasn’t missed a home or away game in the last four seasons. Should of limited it so every ST holder could go. Personally think we’ll get spanked anyway but still a good day to miss out on.

It is yes. I think the point is that if you have a season ticket but don’t travel away like many then you are way down the list....

To be fair this is a valid point - and if the club sold away ST then I’d be very interested if they come with the same priority as Home ST..... I might just purchase the away one.

However, the reason why I buy a ST is exactly for games like Brighton, or a play off final - this is not a new arrangement - everyone knows the rules at the start of the season.
