Exactly this.I generally like Robins but we are a L2 team and by default, have a manager with flaws, players who are either wanting to get into the game at a higher level or cheap salary ones, the manager is only a few games away from the pressure of the sack.
Personally, Robins has always liked to play through the middles and be cautious, grinding teams down and playing on the break, did it well with Goldy in his first stint. Was hoping McNulty would do the same.
He doesn’t do the second or third options well when the first style changes, the teams comfortable at the top have pace and width and that exposes teams at this level. I don’t know the budget or what he was allowed to do but it’s not the perfect balance for options in games. I know he has had injuries and you could argue jones was the one wide man but we needed 2 or 3 to cover those injuries.
Overall though, I would stick with him for now and into next season. If we win our two games in hand we are in the play off’s, this club hasn’t achieved top 6 for 48 years, it’s not easy for any manager to break this.
And spare a thought for the players, how can they interpret his “squeaking”, must be very difficult for them.
We keep chopping managers and squad players and yet we are shit season after season.
Why should a new manager who ever it my be be any better.
