I’m in a pub at the minute (no suprisevthere) and I’m sitting next to a table of teachers who are getting pissed and having a right laugh. I’m not joking either.
Why not, it's a snow day!
You have no knowledge of how much work they will do over the weekend.
I am at my desk at home marking books which means I don't have my usual Sunday afternoon 2-4 hour session to do. The teachers with you are probably PE teachers!

I hope not. They are all women and one has a bigger gut than me. I only know they are teachers as one was telling some bloke at the bar “got a text to stay at home last night it’s party day!” Won’t be much work done tomorrow I can tell you.

My old school president Kennedy is open and I wonder why maybe because the headteacher has had a real job in the past where snow doesn’t matter as far as I am aware no fatalities there and it’s at the top of a big long hill.

It doesn’t matter to me that my kids are off today that’s why I have a shitty paying night job for these situations

Surely you should be retraining as a teacher?

Hardly the teachers fault schools are closed! Imagine the uproar if someone’s little darling slipped and injured themselves in the snow!

Schools shutting are a pain. This week it’s cost me thousands. I’m frustrated as anyone. Anyone that thinks they shut for little reason are wrong. It’s always the last resort. Was speaking to one of my schools who said they had teachers turn up who had that left their houses at 4 this morning just so they could get there on time. Some of those individuals didn’t get home until 11 last night too.

On a brighter note I thought this was ironic. Scottish Ski Championships have been cancelled due to the snow! http://www.ssbx.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/ssbx-2018-cancelled.pdf

Most of the fixture list is off tomorrow. Fair play to the staff at the Ricoh. Not an easy task.

Never been so glad to get home!
Rear wheel drive and 200bhp in snow is no joke!!
What is this "home" you talk of?
Finished my shift at JLR nearly an hour ago - the plant road leading from the car park is still chocka. Haven't got a clue what state the 45 or back roads are in.

I just decided to reverse all the way to Jubilee Crescent just for the hell of it.

If it's great fun I might try it and do it again, but this time using the car.
I've just watched a young lady burn her clutch out trying to get up Bede Rd in first gear, I would have got out and helped but I couldn't be bothered.

How many days of snow per year does it take to make it acceptable to drive massive V8 4x4s like in Canada etc?

If I had the money to buy a Ford Ranger it would take......... ZERO! Fuck it, if it snows or not, if I'm destroying the o zone layer or not! If it snows then bonus, but if not, bonus!!!

Driving a "massive v8 4x4" as a day to day uk vehicle displays a massively selfish attitude......

It shows a total lack of both social and environmental responsibility and, in my experience, represents a greater hazard to all other road users and pedestrians......

......and most people look at you and simply think....."what a c**t"

That's why I would need loads of snow days to justify it.

On those days I could be a hero, out saving puppies that are stranded, towing people to safety and giving people the wanker sign who called me a c**t every other day ;)

I did have a v6 4x4, it was a fair bit of fun and would have loved the snow. Did the school run OK in it too unless I had to get out to put the seat forward. :(

They all sound like good reasons to drive one to me?

I had a Vauxhall Frontera once. Fabulous motor. I used to go on 4x4 days out at Cannock Chase. I would leave Range Rovers stuck in the ruts and gradients and just drive past them. Very under-rated motor! Also had a Toyota Rav4 but never done any particular 4x4 stuff in it. Frontera 1.jpg Frontera a.jpg Frontera b.jpg Toyota Rav 4.jpg
