You don't suppose he is sensationalising it somewhat? Maybe a justification for his requesting additional funding at some near future point perhaps?
The politicians may not agree sharing...but the unofficial lines of communication &/or alert will likely not be affected by any Brexit negotiated (or no-deal) outcomes. There is too much mutual benefit in tipping each other off at every level of such operations.

They can’t take comfort from your words of “wisdom” that it will be alright on the night, maybe They have to plan ahead, they have orders to fulfill many of which will include late penalties, they have staff to keep working.

Read or watch. You really won’t have to visit too many news sites to find the story. It’s on the front page of the BBC News site for instance, many papers are going with it too. Given it’s holiday season and holiday makers are going to be hit. You’re asking for a link for something that is very much in the public domain and you’d have to go out of your way to miss if you had any interest at all in current affairs.

Some of the key words/bits to look for in that specific report, which appear strategically placed & hence leap out at me are things like 'if' & 'fears'...that is my choice of focus. Yours is to focus on something different. They have potentially been sourcing additional or alternative suppliers already that IF push comes to shove they can use...that is what I meant by economical. I have no doubt some of these fabulously paid individuals are understandably worried about their lot in life. I & millions of others are about theirs too. Vast majority of them won't give a kipper's cock about Brexit because it will at best vaguely impact their circumstance

Barnier was saying that Ireland must be sorted before there was a trade deal. The other 27 countries are not saying that the Ireland problem must be sorted before a trade deal.

Ireland can't be sorted easily at all until we know what sort of trade deal there is going to be. If we have a free trade agreement most of the problems are sorted. Goods can move freely. If tariffs are imposed then there is a lot of sorting out to do. Barnier and Juncker knew it was nearly impossible to solve Ireland before even starting talks on a trade deal. Anybody with 2 working brain cells knows this. It was just one of the attempts made to force us to stay in the EU. A nd you know this.

Barnier and Juncker have made it nearly impossible to put a plan together. They set no boundaries but just kept saying no to everything. Another attempt at forcing us to stay in the EU.

And back to you. You say that you cannot have a trade deal without first explaining how you are going to enforce it. But answer one thing. How can you plan to enforce something that you know nothing about?

Ireland: The problem being alignment of regulations if we don’t want to be in the CU or SM or accept decisions of the ECJ. We are tariff free already, but what if we import from other countries which must pay EU tariffs and reexport to the EU via ROI? What if our trade deals have different/ lower standards than the EU? Then people would smuggle some of our imports into the EU via ROI.

Enforcement: Which is why you have to know whether we are in the CU and SM, and if we aren’t, how do we propose controlling the border whilst at the same time not breaking the GFA? Then we can discuss further.

Under WTO you are expected to control your borders.

The winners seem to be the likes of hedge funds who have mates in high places who with a single sentence can effect things like the value of sterling and them people just happen to have bet in the right directions.

The loser tends to be the man in the street who’s company can’t function because of uncertainty meaning wage freezes, cuts in overtime, scaling back of investment, cash flows being punished in preparation of what might come ect ect.

I will reply anyway. Barnier is an appointed negotiator. He doesn’t have to be elected. All 27 heads of government and all MEPs are elected. Juncker was elected by the Council and confirmed by the MEPs.

Oli Robbins, the one negotiating on our behalf on May‘s instructions wasn’t elected.

May has been going round the heads of government, but we know of no major success. Hague has blamed Macron accusing him of being stubborn. Barnier has written an open letter explaining that he represents the 27 and that they have all agreed to his line. No one has denied this.

Is it really a surprise that May is rallying support from other leaders within the EU? Isn’t part of the apparent problem with the EU that you have to get all members to agree? That’s when it’s not a dictatorship run by Junker or Barnier or the French or the Germans (delete as necessary depending on the leave argument for the day).
