I'm sure boot design/materials have a significant role to play in many injuries. As a lad I remember shin splits being a very common injury when you had boots with little to no cushioning. Then it was metatarsals with things like Predator when they made the top from lighter, more flexible materials to improve touch and no we get loads of ACL's possibly due to blades, which are designed to improve ability to change direction but it seems that it allows turning before the ligament is prepared.
Can you imagine these boots on the pudding pitches of old? An average career would've been about three years before the knees gave out.

Duncan Watmore has just returned from a double ACL injury to the same knee, he had only been back playing for six weeks when he did it again, so there is hope for Jones if the worst is confirmed.

Cheers better days. This reminds me of when Reda Johnson had his last injury with us. This doesn't sound like there is hope of good news.

He was asked about this at the forum last night and suggested the prognosis didn't look good. He remained hopeful but they are preparing for the worst that he has to start all over again and have the operation from scratch. Best case scenario is they do an exploratory to have a look and clean up and then it will be weeks rather than months, but with then getting up to full fitness and match fit I think we can forget about him being included for a good while yet.
It does beg the question why he was even allowed to try and play on.

Pretty much what he's said in the press conference above about more points than last year etc
A few usual generic questions and some on his playing career. I did ask him about the contract situation with Burge etc. Didn't expect a complete answer as not our business, but hoped at least an offer on the table and yet sounded pretty much like nothing discussed yet which suggests to me he's off in the summer if not before , Willis the same.
Mentioned recruitment and they were looking at areas to strengthen ongoing with Dave Boddy (who was also in attendance). Up to the players to perform etc.
Was asked about more ACL injuries and alluded to pace of the game now and lots of sudden stopping and twists and turning etc
Good night. Grimmer & Hyam there too, more light hearted for their part but spoke about the fans, the ambitions, past history and Wembley (JG goal etc).

It wouldn't surprise me whatsoever if the Ricoh fiasco will holt potential contract extensions until it's sorted. IF it's sorted that is. Agents will almost definitely be getting in their players' ear.

I know the vast majority of players are only in it for the money but why would you sign a contract with a club that might not exist by the start of next season?

I said exactly the same to Harry last night as he alluded to us not having as many staff etc down the leagues, but I cited that example as we were in the Championship then.

Agreed, don't think you can blame the medical staff, or lack of them.
We're 2 weeks past the game and despite seeing specialists nobody is able to say what the injury is and how severe it is. The alternative is everytime a player goes down injured they get substituted 'just in case'.

Think it should depend on the circumstance though. If it is somebody returning from an ACL and they have an injury like that where people can see his knee twisting from the other side of the ground then as a precaution don't let him try and run it off.

This is one of my fears too. I suppose if a player were happy with the offer they might accept in the knowledge that they'd have a good chance of finding a deal in the summer if the club did go belly up. The larger issue would be if the club decided not to enter into liabilities they potentially couldn't offset against sales next season.

Exactly, in the grand scheme of things it's common sense if anything. Many players have young families etc. so from an objective POV why on earth would they stay.
