They want to compete with China and America and to that they have to have a lead. They want to keep jobs. To do that they want the EU to allow mergers where companies are involved in the world market and not primarily EU. The want to give loans and also to be able to buy technology firms for the short term to keep technology in Germany. They don’t want foreign investors to buy up their technology firms. They see the dangers of US and China buying out tech firms to leave Europe behind. Opposition says they should keep out of business and concentrate on trade agreements. They aren’t dishing out money to foreign firms to make cars in Germany.
This is the thing that the disaster capitalists were pinning their hopes upon. People who were mugged off on the promises of a mega fucking special deal because the brits won a war and once had an empire would never be willing to fess up and admit they were conned. You were conned. We will be shafted.

And that is what makes me laugh. We have people in here that are British. They have a go at the British government for trying to protect jobs. But Germany takes it a step further and takes a stake in private companies. Not a single word is said. So the German government then can pump as much money in as they like.
I wonder what the EU will do as rules and regulations mean there must be a level playing field. But there again it is Germany. So nothing will be done. We have seen it all before and will see it all again.
The link Captain put up explains both of us. You praise the EU as much as you can and applaud what they do. I look at the faults of each side.

Can you show me where I have praised the EU? Except maybe that PR is more democratic than FPTP. Most of the time I am correcting you and not specifically praising the EU.

Where does it say the German government can pump as much money as it likes? Where does it say that if they step in it is for the long term? They are talking about technology leaving Europe and the EU potentially being squeezed out by China and USA. One thing they want is the cartel rules altered to allow giant EU mergers to compete in world markets. Plus, it is a paper, not a law. They need to reform the EU cartel system to get this. It seems pretty sensible, but has not yet been approved by the German Parliament or the EU.
So, that’s a no then?

It is in the regulations. No government is allowed to do anything to stop there from being a level playing field. But they will let Germany do it as they let Germany do it as likes. Just like dieselgate.
Germany gets a load of trouble about Dieselgate. They are now asking to change the cartel regulations and be allowed to stop technology transfer. Nothing has happened yet, but they will have support for that.
No. It is a an agreement about how crap Brexit is. Nothing to do with how good or bad the EU is. Saying Brexit is going horribly wrong isn’t praising the EU.
Cut the crap and tell me whether Brexit was pushed by people who didn’t have a plan how to carry it out or not. And look what Brexit is doing to Britain. No patriot would ever have inflicted this crap on their own country. So yes there is a special place in hell for those who sold Brexit as a benefit to the British people.
How can I be wrong if nothing has happened and they have only released a paper which relies on agreement from the EU?
And... announcing what you want, why you want it and how you think it will work is a bit different to making an 80 million bung to a car company on the sly.
