Actually atm probably not the answer. a minority govt being held to ransom by a small party has not gone well.

Tend to agree. I'd take the upper chamber being elected by PR, mind you.
Anyway, all the votes rather close atm. Scary to think such a big subject can be decided by who happens to die at any time during this.

It makes no sense in a "modern democracy" to have a wholly unelected 2nd chamber. Only one apart from Canada I think.
However I would only have a fixed % of the Lords elected in as much as it shouldn't become a rubber stamp for the Govt of the day,
I'd retain a % of crossbenchers to provide a balance. Always loathe to throw away experience because people are deemed too old.
Also completely wrong that Govt ministers can be appointed from the Lords as aren't then answerable to MPs

You’re going to have to quantify that for me because pointing out that the leave campaign repeatedly campaigned on the premise that the EU is a protectionist organisation and that’s why we must leave and then when we vote to leave what was said in the campaign is forgotten so they can play the victim is hardly tying anything in knots. Is a accurate and factual observation.

They didn’t want it. Much better to let someone else deliver the reality of leave not the fantasy then claim that they could have done better after the event. Which of course they couldn’t.

If someone actually was in charge that wanted brexit, im sure they would of just got on with in during the last 2 years instead of pissing about and getting us a shit deal
Right now we would probably have a good deal and would of left however due to the direction in which TM has negotiated the deal, its given the remoaners a platform to moan and whinge about

Brexit has overtaken politics for three years now at the expense of neglecting everything else. I think you’re quite naive to suggest that they should have got on with it when it’s all politics has been about for three years.
Teresa May set out the red lines the leavers wanted within her party (well, it depends on what way the wind is blowing for Boris) it’s leavers that set the agenda and that’s why they all stepped aside and let her walk into the enigma that is a leavers Brexit. I now refer you back to my previous post.

David Davis was so appallingly under-prepared, it ended up May doing all the negotiating.
He had his chance to stamp his mark on it, but ended up just holding it all up by being incapable and inept.
