Did you look under the politics section? It’s slid down the politics page as the day went on but when I first read it at lunchtime yesterday it was one of the lead stories at the top of the page.
I went 'Politics' & 'Brexit'...just before I posted.

I see that Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe who Boris secured an extended sentence for by using his diplomacy skills is about to start a hunger strike in Iran.

I have to say though that it confirms one of my theories about brexit snowflake righties. Unless it’s got a big picture with the headline it either isn’t true or never existed. I’m getting the impression that righty snowflakes conspiracy theories around BBC impartiality or lack there of is based on not being intelligent enough to read any headline that isn’t accompanied by a picture. Hence they rely on Facebook for “news” and end up forming opinions on bullshit promoted by people with a vested interest in getting people to believe said bullshit. Dangerous times.

Ah well...suspecting that might be a slant at me. 1. I don't think I am a rightie
2. I don't think I am a snowflake
3. I generally defend the BBC as impartial - though also think there is occasion when it quite clearly not - e.g. how many rightie vs leftie comedians get airplay? 10 people killed in the US in some event gets big airtime, same in Pakistan...gets a mention for a few hrs
4. I don't do facebook
5. I wonder how many of those slants could be turned back onto yourself & many others?

It wasn’t completely a slant at you more a general observation of those who sell the conspiracy theory of media, BBC especially, conspiracy theories. You get American political commentators tell Andrew Neil that he’s a liberal lefty because he works for the BBC, you get David Davies claiming on question time that the panel always favours remainers and as Dimbleby told him the opposite is in fact true and by some distance, you get the brexit ltd panel member just last week trying the same line and again being corrected by Fiona Bruce, you get Tommy believers believing that he’s exposing pedophiles because the media isn’t when 10 seconds on google shows you that the media was covering the story long before Tommy jumped on the band wagon and he even admits in court that he knew the details were in the public domain despite claiming otherwise on his live feeds. People are sleep walking into being far right and don’t even realise it to the point of denial and the major cause seems to be a lack of attention to detail on their own behalf or an eagerness to believe things at face value from questionable sources without considering fact checking.

1. I don’t think I’m a lefty, in fact my voting history suggests I’m centre right. Been pretty much a Tory voter most my life.

2. I don’t think I’m a snowflake. Merely capable of reading the BBC homepage in detail so don’t go off making assumptions.

3. The BBC is impartial. Just because it isn’t telling you what you want to hear doesn’t make it otherwise. The comedy world is heavily slanted to the left full stop. Righties just don’t have a sense of humour. There’s the odd exception like Geoff Northcott who’s a regular on the Mash Report but righties are a minority in comedy. The fact that this is then represented on the BBC actually demonstrates impartiality perfectly, it’s the reality of it. Lowering the numbers of lefties to equal that out is a dangerous direction to go in.

4. I don’t blame you, I don’t either.

5. Up to you.

No I don’t rate him Clint, in fact I never believed he could become PM but it does now look the probable outcome.
On the basis that he or Raab are most likely to deliver Brexit and have the best chance of keeping Corbyn out of no.10, they’d be my choice from a pathetic bunch.
The EU is run by a bunch of washed up political lightweights and supported by the likes of the feeble Macron, so criticism from that quarter counts for nothing.
I'm interested to know why you think Raab can deliver Brexit - he was Brexit Secretary. Agreed the deal with the EU and then voted AGAINST a deal he was specifically employed to do.

The EU may well be run by political lightweights but so is Britain. If we've got these negotiating heavyweights why haven't they come out with this great deal they said they'd get easily, instead of May's boomerang bill which seems like EU membership without a great deal of the perks?

Raab was the Brexit Minister and failed. Was shocked when he learned how much we depend on Dover. BoJo was a joke as foreign minister. No way will we be leaving on 31. October. With either of those clowns at the helm, we will never leave the EU. Happy to watch Brexit sink and BoJo fail miserably.

I’m not sure where this notion that he can keep Corbyn out of No 10 comes from. He’s a divisive character. He divides the sitting government, he won’t necessarily divide the Tory membership but he certainly divides the country. If anything he makes Corbyn more likely to get in to No 10. In coalition with the Lib Dem’s would be my guess with a second referendum being what makes a coalition possible.

Yes, I’m all for that. Lib lab pact to save us from Brexit.

Absolutely. But I'll take that above being unable to actually construct a simple sentence. Oh the irony. You are absolute class. Did you do O level English ?

So sick of seeing this.

Someone explains clearly and with evidence why they believe what they believe. Is met with “you’re patronising” or “you’re up yourself”.

Sorry, but how exactly do you go about telling someone they’re evidently terrible at navigating the modern media landscape without implying they’re a bit thick?

I’m sorry not everyone is capable of telling truth from fact online, but clearly they’re not and it’s doing significant damage to the country.

What do you do when someone is so clearly wrong? And not in a “oh you’re right and I’m left” but just in a “you’re talking utter nonsense” way.

And the fact that anyone pointing this out is immediately presumed to be left wing is frankly hilarious.

Blimey...you got all that from one simple single comment? Especially aimed at someone who is doing precisely the type of thing you refer to? (Which is what prompted my comment btw)

What a dumb comment.
But you are up your own arse. Anyone who has been on this thread can clearly see that. It's surely an accolade you've been yearning for.

Just watching C4 news and they had an official Hungarian Government spokesman (sorry didn’t get his name) and he confirmed that not even Hungry will be pushing for renegotiations of the withdrawal agreement. So basically the withdrawal agreement can’t get through parliament, no deal can’t get through Brexit, there is no magical renegotiation unless the government bring something else to the table. GE it is then.

GE it is then.
If that was the case, you'd think / hope that Labour and the Lib Dems would sort out some kind of pact not to stand against each other... if Labour actually end up making a decision on what to do of course, and went full-remain.

They won't, of course, they'll knock votes off one another and let the other goons win.

No deal would as it’s a default position with no agreed extension

There’s that many possibilities I think the only given is that we’re looking at a coalition government. Especially if the Brexit Ltd split the Tory and Labour vote.

@Grendel is right, no deal will be the default. The EU has long been preparing for it but in the UK it seems that reality has disappeared and a GE or a renegotiation are touted as solutions as though the rest of the world revolves around London.

It’s not all down to the UK parliament as there are two sides in all of this.

Aside from anything else, the world has changed. It’s not about the biggest army/navy any more.

Had this debate with a “super patriotic” Brexiter. Pointed out how we wield soft power and punch well above our weight doing so and how leaving the EU will leave us weaker at our key strength.

He actually went “no ones ever explained it like that before” :banghead:

Ridiculous...but (especially in light of your response to my 'head up your own arse' comment suggesting you were sick of this kind of thing) you have to be balanced. Both sides have them...

Hilarious considering you think Nicola Sturgeon is the best leader in the UK as their whole manifesto for being independent is tub thumping rhetoric
