My niece is currently training to be a nurse; my daughters' friend is a diabetic nurse; and my mates daughter is also a nurse. But WHY can't we produce more of our own? We do we have so many coming over? Is the training and education better and cheaper overseas? And, if so, how come so many come to the UK on student visas to study in our universities?

I'm not trying to be smart, I honestly don't know why we can't produce our own NHS doctors and staff and why there is this necessity to recruit from abroad.

Because we don't fund the courses

The simple answer on doctors is that they go abroad to countries with better working conditions. Australia and NZ are top of the list for that. With nurses I imagine it’s a similar story to teachers. You now have to pay to train and when you qualify you’re working longer hours with fewer resources and your pay continues to stagnate.

More also don’t come through an education system that is fit for purpose after a lengthy period of neglect.

Yeah, I agree. Was slightly tongue in cheek. Frustrated though that the Conservatives were able to get away with it. People say they want change but in reality they've voted for exactly what they've always had. I'd have had more respect if people had voted for the Brexit party en masse.

Shit wage. I earn more than double my sister in law (nursery nurse) for sitting on my arse doing computers as she’d say. (I work smart not hard)

You know what you are getting into wages wise before you start, but she didn’t care about that. She wanted to help people and She deserves more.

More money needs investing. I’d be more than happy to pay more tax out of my earnings. A lot wouldn’t. Tell me that’s not what it ultimately boils down to.

Not a fucking chance I’d be working my arse off to help people. That’s not me. These people deserve more hard cash.

In that Sun video you had the one guy who votes Labour because everyone else did. Then there were the others repeating the headlines that the press have sent Corbyn’s way for 4 years.

Personally I don’t think he’s the evil right winger he’s been made out to be by some (lily and stormzy)...loose with the truth, possibly, very ‘political’ but I get the feeling deep down he’s not anywhere near as bad as he’s been made out to be by some commentators.

5 live were in Burnley earlier, asking voters why they went Tory. Both said it wasn't particularly Brexit but one voter, who was going to go Brexit party and had previously voted ukip explained that he would continue to vote tory if they 'kept their promise'. If not Brexit, then I presume it's anti immigration. As much as I did not want to think that way this morning, it is worrying that people still think it's the immigrants holding them back. That absolute c**t Hopkins has been all over it on Twitter. It's really fucking disappointing.

No one can mitigate for that kind of logic. I heard lots of people saying that didn’t like Corbyn - but never could articulate why. At least on here those that disliked him explained their reasons why and you could understand - even if you fundamentally disagreed.
Perhaps the next leader won’t have that to overcome, perhaps someone will dig dirt on whoever it is and we’ll have that battle instead.

The Tories will at least have to own the next 5 years. Johnson has his majority... and if he fucks it up he won’t have anyone else to blame this time.

The problem was that people just like yourself couldn't bring yourself to see the facts.it was much easier to insult someone than consider the truth.

Corbyn was an absolute disaster for Labour. But too many constantly made excuses for him. And anyone who disagreed was there to be insulted. But the bloke just wasn't electable in any way.

We need to move along. We need to find a leader that is likeable. We need someone strong yet who doesn't want to demolish everything. Someone without skeletons in the closet stretching back 40 years or more.

At least the discussion on Corbyn being the right person to lead Labour should now be finished.

This is why I speak of northern representation through the next leadership of the Labour Party. Don’t get me wrong, I understand that the Tories haven’t had to do that on this occasion but the swell of opinion around the fact that the Tories will help these northern communities out more needs to be fought quickly, and what better way than to bring in someone relatable for the electorate up there. May be a cheap game but definitely worth a try.

It still absolutely amazes me how ill informed some people are on this subject. I was talking to one of my work colleagues on the Australia based points system yesterday and he’s convinced it will work because we’ll police it. I asked him how and he said that if someone is allowed to come in to pick fruit we’ll check up on them making sure that they’re working where they said they are and make sure they’ll leave. I asked how and he was stumped. I explained to him that we could police EU immigration to some extent now but have chosen not to because of the cost, why is that going to change? Because we will was the answer. With what? There’s no allowance in the Tory budget for reversing the cuts in policing as it is, where’s the extra money coming from for this extra policing? He was stumped. I then went on to tell him that most illegal immigration in the country is from visa overstay. He didn’t believe me so I showed him several reports on it. He genuinely thought that all illegal immigration in this country was through people smuggling and people arriving clinging to ferries, in rubber dinghies etc from the continent. Ignorance is bliss. Hence Boris won.

The positive from the election is that at the next election we’ll have left the EU and it will be 14 years since the last labour government so when the Tories continuation of austerity budget delivers a continuation of a crisis in the NHS, a continuation of a crisis in policing, a continuation of a crisis in social care, a continuation of a crisis in the prison service, a continuation of growing inequality, a continuation of the use in food banks etc. basically everything that’s rotten about the country that won’t change they’ll have to hold this government to account instead of blaming the EU, Labour or the 2008 world recession. I won’t hold my breath, the plebs will still be lapping up.
