I don't have a clue who any of you are. Think I prefer it that way.
We all know who you are

The old ones are the best arent they? If you don't froth at the mouth about wasps on here then you have an agenda. Jesus christ how dull.

I think it's fair to assume that posters who appear on these type of threads but never even glance at match or player ratings threads have an agenda

Sisu are the cause of us losing our home. You wont convince me otherwise. All the other shit that has come after yes I agree.
And what about before SISU? Shall we just ignore the most important part? Like how we became homeless other than renting HR back. Having to have everyone else pay for the land, decontamination and the build of the stadium. Even the EU put in multiples of what CCFC did on the whole project.

Which is why I think they will.look at the situation seriously and closely.

Yet all you can do is worry about London Wasps.

The trust have alienated themselves so much that actually it would not be that hard to bring it down and install a new board if there was a desire even under its own constitution.
It really wouldn't take much to be elected onto the SBT board if people wanted to.

Can anyone find that video where they were clapping wasps?? @Nick was it on bbc or sky sports so i know where to look, can't remember off the top of my head

Coventry City LIVE: Joy Seppala claims was "personal" with council

Unfortunately I can't use the embed link, @Nick ,is it possible?

So you'll have to scroll back until March 21st but the full video is there on the above link.
A little under 5 minute chat with Stuart Dick from Wasps, the usual questions from Moz, all sidestepped, & then he's warmly applauded off, not by 1 or 2, but the vast majority of the Trust.

Imagine a CCFC promotion and a Wasps relegation after the RFU find out they were doing the same as Saracens ( I don’t know they have or have not disclaimer) and would be playing Coventry RFC. CCC meltdown big time
It's not as if there isn't a vehicle through which Wasps can make bi annual payments to somebody to inflate a wage packet

Been fucked for years.

Our best shot is Wasps leaving and then seeing what happens. That is why we need Wasps to fail. And I have said all along I can see them failing. Might just be a bit sooner than I thought.
As much as I would like to see them fail I just don't see it. That are owned by a hedge fund same as us. They have more saleable assets i.e. the Ricoh and surrounding land. They probably have similar amounts of debt to us. Our hedge fund is just as likely to pull the plug as theirs is. Especially if the EU finds the 're was no fault with the council's sale.

The Ricoh is essentially already sold, they have to pay bond holders £35m shortly for it. They're £60m in debt despite just receiving a £19m injection and are losing £10m a year.

It's all bollocks with no end in sight. Sick to my back teeth of it all. On the pitch it's rosey, the rest of it just gets you down.

Almost like giving away our tenancy to gamble on a reduced rate and inevitably ending up at the behest of yet another hedge fund that doesn’t give a shit about us wasn’t the genius plan some on here made out, huh?

Still, isn’t Simon Gilbert’s hair funny and have you seen this tweet by a random nobody?

Our debt is owed to SISU. So the only people who can call in the debt are SISU.

Wasps debt is owed to investors who also get millions a year in interest. Then the debt needs paying back in a couple of years. This is on top of the interest needed to be paid. The arena can be valued as much as they want. But they wouldn't get that much for it. They are making a big loss. And that is after getting rid of their best players. They have already gone from a top of the table club to a bottom of the table club. Their London fan base is falling away. It isn't getting replaced by local support.

Then you have them pissing off local people with their method of doing what they want. They are a rugger club in a football city that has fickle fans. Their owner isn't a billionaire. How much more of his personal wealth will he throw away? Most of the bond issue was to pay off the debt on the arena and to give Richardson 10m back that London Wasps owed him. He has since had ti put it back in.

They are in shit street. They have ti keep giving away free tickets as all the tickets given away so far hasn't given them the fan base they expected.

Can't think of anything going well for them at the moment.

Just can't help thinking Wasps (and others) completely overestimate the appeal of Rugby Union.
People will watch the international stuff but that's a different product..
Average attendances across the board seem to be around 13k for English rugby's Premier competition.

Partnerships with CVC etc. look sexy but in the end they've sold their soul to the devil with that one.
You've got 3 clubs in London who can't get crowds of 15k. No clubs in major cities like Birmingham, Liverpool, Leeds, and others. Does Sale count as Manchester? Anyway 7k average crowds for the only club north of Leicester.
I have a theory that if you've played a sport you're more likely to follow it - live or on TV. Everybody still kicks a football at some stage in their childhood. Can't say the same for rugby or cricket anymore.

England not winning the World Cup probably has helped our cause. There’d have been an attendance upturn for a spell if they’d have won..

much harder to remove everyone on it first which is what’s needed
There were three(?) vacancies last time out, which would have created a sizeable voice. Then more come up each time. Plenty of opportunity for a change in direction of the Trust.

Not sure I follow that. My circle of friends all love boxing and horse racing. none of us have ever participated in either.

Rugby union fans already had / have an option to follow it locally with CRFC, it’s not like there was no local team and they could come in a swallow up the demand. It will take them years to be inbedded into the fabric of Coventry and years they do not have.

Would love for you to admit the council are also in the wrong and have been this whole time.. they should never have invited wasps in the first place! As many would agree with me i hate sisu and wish they would fuck off but they aren't the only party to blame in this!

We all know how hard it would be for @shmmeee to say a bad word about the council though so i won't hold my breath

Actually, there is no chance because nobody'll do it, they'd rather snipe.

Go into OT threads about the city centre or road planning if you want to see me slag off the council. I couldn’t give a shiny shite about Wasps to be honest. If I had an unreliable tenant who was making noises about leaving and how they couldn’t afford the rent I needed to charge I’d be looking for alternatives myself. The council have a responsibility to try and attract businesses to Coventry.

We had a long lease. There was no way for anyone to kick us out until we broke it. I’m not an egg chaser and couldn’t care less what egg chasing teams do. I don’t buy the virtue signalling about teams in other sports moving as people are happy with Blaze who came here from another city. It’s entirely confected outrage. Also we have our biggest away crowds at MK Dons every season, which also makes your protestations a little hollow as they’re far more closely related to teams moving in football.

Keep frothing though. I’m sure it’s about to make Wasps break down aaaaany moment now.

Would the lease have been broken if the Haskell plan had gone through?

How is it going with the Wasps promises of bringing things to Coventry?

Which bit of “I don’t give a fuck about egg chasing” is giving you problems Nick?

Would the lease have been broken if an asteroid hit the earth or dogs rose up against us? Fuck knows. It didn’t happen. Nice deflection though. Can’t have anyone looking at the clubs actions here, better find some random hypothetical bollocks to talk about instead. Hey have you noticed local news is dying and relying on click bait? That’s an evergreen one.

I mean why not go on about the Euromillions threads on here every now and then with people planning hostile takeovers all over? They’re about as likely to succeed.

Why don’t we start spelling RICS R**S since they pulled out of Friargate One and scuppered that project?

How is it deflecting to ask if the ACL plan would have worked would the lease have been broken?

I didn't mention Rugby as a sport, I mentioned bringing things to Coventry (which you said was the councils responsibility and a reason for selling to Wasps).

Who is it deflecting?

You are. And have been for years. Will look anywhere except the actual people in charge of the decisions taken by the club that led us here.

The reason for selling was we had a tenant to a key piece of infrastructure that was saying they wanted to leave and was hostile. That’s what I said. If your arguments are so solid why do you keep having to misrepresent the opposing ones?

Answer this: with everything we know now, was breaking the lease the right strategic decision?

I haven't misrepresented any have I? You will probably find it is you who tends to make things up that I haven't said or done.

I am not sure about breaking the lease, I think Wasps would have been here in some shape or form anyway and we would have still been playing second fiddle and silly rent anyway.

Why wasn't the lease extended to 250 years to make the mortgage lower and therefore the rent?

If SISU didn't do the Administration then it would have been controlled by ACL which is what they expected as they were already showing off the new owner, would the lease have been broken then too? It's OK, I am sure you will just post a conspiracy gif to deflect from that.

Yes, ACL attempting to put the club into administration would have also broken the lease.

Do you think perhaps we could’ve got a lower rent if we were playing “second fiddle”?

The club kept (and keep) saying the Ricoh was unaffordable, I agree it probably is. There was probably no rent amount that would’ve both met CCCs and CCFCs requirements. The stadium was built for a Prem team and we ain’t that.

From there there’s two options in reality: get another tenant in to split the rent, or build us a new, cheaper to run, ground.

What wasn’t a serious option was moving the club out of the city in an attempt to get it on the cheap. It showed a massive misunderstanding of local government which isn’t surprising as Sisu surround themselves with cranks like Les Reid and Nikki Morgan rather than serious people who know what they’re on about.

Exactly, the lease would have been broken either way.

Surely not that big a deal then if ACL were planning to break it themselves? Maybe Schmeee can ask his dad what the plan was for it when Haskell took over?

What was the alternative, keep paying £1.2m a year as ACL continued to refuse to negotiate? How do you think we would have got on as a L2 club paying that sort of rent?

You say its the councils job to attract business but on their watch the football club has left twice while the council have, at best, stood by and let it happen, at worst, had a significant contribution to it happening. I can't see any way in which the attracting business argument overrides how morally wrong it is to move clubs around the country. It should never have been an option.

But even if we assume that, while the council was publicly stating otherwise, they desperately needed a buyer why not go through a proper open and transparent process to achieve best return for the taxpayer?

What about the extend the lease option to get better finance? It's what they did for Wasps after all.
