How would I know? I wouldn’t, same as you. Gimps? I guess you would know assuming that you have a mirror in your house.

How do you know they weren’t interested in learning a dance routine. The one thing that they’ll all have in common is needing a distraction to maintain their sanity, if they choose that distraction to be learning a dance routine so what. Go and have a think to yourself.

The clue that they are grown adults posting on Tiktok kind of gives it away.

I've been through spells at work working 12 to 16 hours a day 7 days a week.
To think you can't have amy fucking about and horseplay in those situations if fucking nonsense. It's what helps get you through, (Not suggesting my situation was a stressful as this far from it)

Probably not a good idea to put if on social media with the government trying to scapegoat you and all sorts of arseholes lining up to take a pop admittedly.

Of course you can and it’s the same for politicians who use gallows humour phrases as they are also under pressure

Of course people will have horseplay and fuck about. There will be nurses, doctors, police etc sat about having a laugh in canteens as we speak to get through the day. They aren't climbing all over expensive equipment on wards filming themselves to go viral though.

They are filming it with the aim of getting likes and to go viral off the back of the praise the NHS are getting at the minute (and quite rightly so). Probably want to get a slot on This Morning.

I have a laugh at work all the time, I don't dance on customer's equipment and post it on social media though. I don't claim to be overworked and drive over to the hospital in the middle of my shift to film myself clapping as some sort of competition to say I can clap the loudest.

If my colleagues were dealing with something serious in the room down the corridor I wouldn't start dancing about to the Weeknd to get a few likes on social media.

I have had close relatives die from illness, not sure how I'd feel if a few people were filming their latest craze in the room next door to post online. (There wasn't social media then to be fair).

There's a time and a place for it, surely?

Unprecedented and people just doing their bit. That’s where people earn their money as managers ensuring risks are managed and immune systems aren’t lowered through tiredness and people aren’t taken for granted but rest assured we’ll give them all a clap and mean it but those who can make tangible differences to their lives, including safely working in a crisis and maybe increasing their wage by the rate of inflation at some point this decade to come

Do you think any of the people in those videos have just made those decisions? They don't really look like consultants and doctors but more like gimps fucking about. They want to go viral and get Piers Morgan bigging them up.

Of course there are NHS staff working all hours of the day to the point of exhaustion. The poor woman who couldn't get any food as an example as well and the people going home with their faces covered in sores from wearing masks etc. Pretty sure they weren't interested in learning a dance routine.

Same with the police rocking up to Walsgrave and flying helicopters over, they say they are overworked even without the pandemic but have time to do shit like that.

Piers Morgan won't big them up. He'd go full-on attack asking why the hell are they mucking about during a crisis.

As that appears to be radiology, which has probably had most of it's appointments cancelled to reduce the number of very vulnerable people coming in and potentially catching the virus, they're probably less busy than normal, but still needs to be staffed.

I imagine those that work there alternate between ICU etc and that department to allow a bit of a rest. There is no way anyone could cope mentally with just full-on death/disease, go home, come back and repeat. To work that hard you have to play hard too to give your mind and body the chance to recover.

I do think it was a very silly thing to post it online though. If it helps you unwind great but keep it among yourselves. Otherwise you're just giving the nutcases ammo.

Not sure they would swap departments. My sister at her hospital in London does not have to work in the ICU. They are already fully staffed and while she is a consultant she isn't trained in ICU work.

That's fine. It's when you were saying Labour MP's should be sacked for disgraceful comments then refer to Johnson as 'gallows humour' it's a bit rich. Same standards for all.

Which examples are you referring to?

If they're trained for ICU I'd think they'd be rota'd onto it at the moment. Obviously if you're not then you wouldn't be. If not you risk burnout of those that are dealing with this full-on all the time while other departments are much quieter.

But the equivalent gallows humour from a nurse to Boris’ would have been a tiktok of a nurse singing take your breath away to Boris while Boris was on a ventilator.

They do have the advantage of being an island, oh wait ...

Would you honestly have supported this government closing the borders to EU countries in January or would you have accused then of Brexit xenophobia

We’d have been eating humble pie if they had but as that never happened I guess what you’re really saying is our government got it wrong.

Scrubs are reusable and are laundered, usually on site.

That's what I thought would be the case, on the news the other day they were saying they weren't which is why people were rushing to make millions more.

I can understand why gloves aren't but things that are material, just wash them properly and re-use.

He would big them up, have you seen him ranting recently? This is the bloke who hacks dead girls phones and fakes images from soldiers.

If there are radiology staff sat about, surely they can be moved to help out in other wards if they have nothing to do?

I doubt very much that the government are making major decisions based on the response I'm going to give on a football forum. Even if people did complain at the time surely that works out brilliantly for the government when their actions work and they can play the 'we now better card' in the future.

Most of them won't be, since they were junior doctors you specialise. There are very very few general doctors in the hospital system and these are usually at smaller hospitals.

The issue is icu is a very specialist role. What they have done is reduce the staffing level from 1 icu bed per icu nurse to 1 nurse per 4 beds.

Yep all of that and then all out on the town hammered on continental ale

Six hours kip and off we go again .

Surprised if they're not sucking on nitrous oxide and banging the hottest nurse in a linen cupboard somewhere

Another thing that's not mentioned is are they releasing death numbers from Cancer etc? How down are deaths from other causes to this time last year for example?
This gives an idea of how the number of deaths compares to a 'normal' year. Will probably have to wait for the ONS to compile more detailed data which could be weeks or months down the line.

The non reusable item is the plastic gown which goes over the top of the scrubs.

The apologists will make an argument about density, but ignore that even though the island of Australia is vast the population mostly live in dense urban areas.

Oh it’s our biggest advantage no question and yes we could have locked our borders immediately and should have done. Whatever you think of this government it’s essentially weak and liberal on its thinking and courts popular thinking. If they’d done it the outrage regarding its racist, xenophobic behaviour would have been confirmed. The Rachel Riley stalkier would have been in full flow and everyone pretty much in here would have been outraged

Churchill would have locked the borders and anyone who’s travelled from China, Italy and Spain would be against their will isolated

and everyone on here would squeal racist Tory

I think the case could have been made regards Northern Italy In general
Skiing regions , holiday advice seemed to be framed around commercial aspects rather welfare of Britons heading abroad along with all the cruises continuing after the first one in Japan .

Do you support the decision to allow hundreds of thousands to arrive on flights from affected countries and just wander of into the community

I think if children going skiing in Italy in January were forcibly detained for two weeks afterwards there would have been outrage. I do think the one thing the government could and should have done is locked borders and detained all nationals from high infected areas for two weeks and then cancelled all future travel but I also think the backlash would have been horrific.

I personally would have accepted it if the motives for it were very clearly outlined. The problem was that at the point that Australia were closing borders, our government were pursuing either the herd immunity policy and / or trying to play it down (listening to the nudge unit arseholes).

Not sure if we agree on the first point. He's an horrific human being but has been critical of the handling of this virus. But show him a video of health workers making a tik tok and his response would be just like yours - what the hell are they playing at. Shouldn't they be helping out?

As for point two as I said although certain depts have had appointments cancelled, they probably still need to be open in case and thus need to be staffed. For all we know that could be a much reduced staff to normal and many of their colleagues (and indeed them at other times) are helping out elsewhere like on wards.

I doubt many would though. We’ve seen on here the promotion of a twitter crank who claimed the government made up NHS accounts to support herd immunity when a cursory piece of research would show he’s a nut job

No one will make these decisions now as they are terrified of the masses swallowing the twitter frenzy of utterly insane accusations. The person who made this ridiculous accusation should be put in prison for 10 years and anyone promoting the nonsense a hefty fine and warning of future conduct

Then governments may become brave again

Everyone squealed racist Tory when they deported Windrushers who had every right to be here and they didn't give a fuck so I don't think they can use a few social media cranks as an excuse for not doing what needs to be done now.

To try and put blame for mishandling the pandemic on Twitter is some stretch even for the Tory fan boys on here.
