What's with this 12 strong scientific committee of Sir Dave King .
Clearly just a bunch of moaning lefties who hate their country and would rather live in Italy. Vegan lesbians too. Probably.

In all seriousness though it will be interesting to hear what they have to say. First press conference today I believe. Probably just be a launch though at a guess to explain who they are, who is involved, what they hope to achieve etc.

It’s good of them to appear towards the end of things with ideas, maybe should have stood up at the start.

How are you and your wife TGP?
Not too bad I hope .
Have you both had your results back?

Thanks for asking.

No neither of us have had them back, my wife’s are due today and mine were due on Saturday, I sort of hope I have had it as I woke up this morning pretty fresh after feeling ill for the last few days.

One of his mantras seems to be that without full transparency there's a fear that the scientists on sage will get thrown under the bus further down the line .

Edit:- I think Jenny is shady as f**k who's opinion could change with the weather.

That would be great .
Can't be easy looking after the nippers if you're both rough at the same time .

Some poll suggesting only 1 in 5 want to see things opening back up .
Like schools ,are they a child minding service?
The numbers behind that are more interesting 40 odd percent happy to adhere to restrictions and 40 odd percent adhering but struggling. These folk are likely in some way to break the restrictions the longer thos goes on.

Interesting.
The narrative is changing .
Like over seventies .
Classification of illness requiring shielding etc.
Presented as push back / concern from affected sector's ,or is it led from inside to switch behaviours back ?

Had news over the weekend an old troubled mate tried to top himself. Can’t work (usually does security at festivals), had a shit year with his dad dying, alcoholic and extremely social, no internet access. This lockdown is his personal nightmare. I feel like shit cos he turned up on my doorstep last week and I had to kick him out because I was worried about infections.

Got a mate over to him to do a video call with all his mates but it’s a poor solution.

The over 70 stuff is really strange. My mum (who is 79 and has copd) was really anti shielding herself as she is a people person and my brother and sisters said as an adult she should do what she thinks is appropriate. I was horrified that my mum would put herself at risk and my siblings would be absolutely ok with all this!!

I do wonder sometimes at our human capacity to ignore clear and unambiguous advice on an optimistic whim

Like one of my colleagues father in law who felt he had to take that option of a final visit to the Pub prior to lockdown .
It was his final visit unfortunately.

I’m sorry mate that’s tough stuff! One of the things I learned when a friend took his own life was that I couldn’t have stopped him even if I’d spent 24hrs a day 7 days a week. You can do what you can do and no more. Hope they can find some hope in this world and life though

My Dad was the same initially - 65 and with COPD. Wouldn’t stay in and follow advice. Took weeks of trying to get him to stay at home. Took 3 of us to tell him he was being a selfish prick (my sister-in-law is also pregnant) for him to wise up.

Still think he’s not 100% abiding but it’s an improvement.

If we end up going down this app route do we have Risk of info theft Via the Bluetooth ? .
Also if it's the decentralised version to protect our data being abused centrally , does it negate the ability of the Gov't to collate the relevant stuff to make judgements and forecasts .
Or don't they need to,?

All sounds a bit mad to me.....it may have some value if it was limited to alerting people that you've been in contact with someone who has officially tested positive, but just cos I walked past someone who has since had a a bit of a cough.....nah mate.
....and for that reason....i'm out.

Following the Cambridge Analytica nonsense I’d be very wary of downloading an app from this government.

Piece on sky a minute ago about Belgiums extreme numbers being down to Extreme frankness and honesty .
Even to the point of counting care home deaths without Covid on the death certificate .
Also that this frankness may have an adverse effect on inward future investment.

The figure that I keep hearing of % of population infected is 4 .
So 2.8M which tallies to the crude assumption of 100 time's mortality rate.

TBH, some of that boomer generation is the most entitled "I know better than so called experts" lot out of everybody alive, years of being conditioned that way by being fed so much drivel for 30 years by the media. It doesn't mean they're bad people of course but the chickens are coming home to roost.

Goves 'people have had enough of experts' comment encapsulates it perfectly.

You were crying about people being negative regarding the UK's handling of the pandemic.

Let us keep this factual.

Also you going to apologise for your lies regarding the testing figures
