On the face of it yes it is a good thing. If its purely that we created extra capacity in case it was needed and shut it down when it wasn't then job done.

However if it has been shut down as other hospitals have stopped referring patients there due to them being turned away as there't no staff thats not so positive.

There's a huge difference in those numbers. One is 6% of the population and the other is 50%. If its 50%, and re-infection isn't possible, you're getting to the point of herd immunity being a viable way forward. Going to need a lot more certainly on the numbers before they can be used to formulate the strategy going forward.

If its 50%, and re-infection isn't possible, you're getting to the point of herd immunity being a viable way forward. Going to need a lot more certainly on the numbers before they can be used to formulate the strategy going forward.

I read about a Swiss company's antibody test that tested very well and could be on the way, it can't come soon enough if only for uncertainty's sake.

That’s probably because they test you but then don’t send you the results as they haven’t in my case and the numbers are inflated because people like my wife have had to go back for a second time because there was a problem with the test.

They do when you can't take the test due to non return envelope or not one qualified at your home and they lag when you could a test posted as a test completed.

If we can get the antibody tests going that'll be a start because
a. If we can get people tested we can have a better idea of how many people have had it in the wider community
b. It provides more potential material to work on an antibody based vaccine, potentially speeding up the introduction of that which is ultimately where we need to be.

According to the article different strains could have potentially sprung up in different parts of the world as well.
I'm one of the ones who's been saying the anecdotal evidence suggests it's been here longer than we think.

I don't think what we're experiencing is the second wave unfortunately though we'll see what happens as lock down restrictions are lifted.

While I agree 288 are 288 to many I think last monday from memory was about 100 more. I do not think they did not include care homes may be wrong.If I have a gripe with the handling of this it was right at the begining of this whole saga was allowing Cheltenham to go ahead and Athletico Madrid fans to come to Anfield.At the time it was 1 of the most infected places in the world.

It’s encouraging that that the cases are falling as are the death totals.....don’t you see that as an encouraging sign we’re getting on top of the virus??? we're also on the verge of becoming the worse affected country in Europe so it's a bit early to be hanging out the bunting.
