While its not 'back to normal' it is far busier.

I walk either along the A45 or in the Memorial most days when I take the dog out. At the start of lockdown you'd hardly see a vehicle on the A45, now its a near constant stream of traffic. Sure its not bumper to bumper like before the lockdown but its significantly busier than it was.

Same in the park. Council have closed off the car parks but no longer have wardens / police stopping people congregating. This week I've seen a rugby club training, fitness classes taking place and everyday there's groups of people sat around.

I concur. First few weeks of lockdown A45 by me was pretty much empty. Could walk on the field next to it and it was eerily quiet. Did it today and there was constant traffic noise in background. Only a steady stream rather than busy but really noticeable to a week or two ago.

I don't buy this almost like theres no lockdown thing, a large amount of people still aren't going to work the transport figures show usage still down

Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk

Purely anecdotal but I was in the office this week. 1200 people normally. I counted me, the security guard who was asleep and 2 other people. Monday afternoon. Also no traffic way in and home. This is A45 / A46.

But you don’t need to win all of the votes to win an election do you.

The MSM both here and in America are absolutely instrumental in deciding the Government’s we elect,
and the methods used in influencing public opinion have been on an ethically slippery slope for years.
Where they used to ‘lean to the right politically and report and ‘bend the facts’ in their favour, they now
unashamedly ride roughshod all over it.
The MSM nowadays is little more than a well coordinated right wing propaganda machine IMHO

I don't really agree with that at all.

There is bias, of course there is. You get it on both sides though.

I think this is part of the problem though. Whilst I detest the tories personally, the electorate continue to reject labour and this isn't just down to what is printed in the Daily Mail.

There needs to be ownership and acceptance that the efforts the other parties have put forward in both candidates and policies are not good enough to topple the tory reign, even though them themselves are shite.

There are quite a few posters on here who do accept it however and I welcome that honesty and reflection. That kind of attitude will only improve their favoured party and give them a chance in the future perhaps.

Look to the USA for example. I don't think Trump would have won if his opposition candidate was half decent. It seems they didn't learn their lesson as this time it isn't Hillary but someone who is also a bit of a joke.

As I said earlier, I am delusioned with politics these days anyway. I really don't think any of them represent me.

The day the vote went Leave there was never ever going to be a way to reverse it.... just wish we’d not gone down the line of trying to block it, because although it was the will of the membership it was so far out of step with the electorate we needed to hold AND win.
Brexit once voted for ‘was always going to be a minefield for any “Well intentioned” political party To navigate, not least because of people’s lack of understanding as to what leaving actually meant.

Before the vote even the likes of Farage we’re advocating leaving with a deal, Johnson ‘I’m sure’ is on record as saying leaving without a deal would be economic madness.

It’s just that a certain party and certain individual ‘spotted a growing uninformed determination among a Media
led public to get Brexit done ‘whatever the cost’ They then seized the opportunity to offer the public the Brexit They crave ‘In exchange for the power they crave.
They did this knowing full well the ramifications for the Country and it’s people this type of Brexit would have.
They will do literally anything to keep power ‘and maintain the “Us and Them” status quo

That’s high praise indeed from the man who said that Chinese slaves infected Italian villages 200 miles away.

Well I didn’t say that but do carry on. Do they have C4 in “Ireland”?

No, channel 4 report the news the way you want it.

Along with the Guardian, Independent etc.

You've basically just proved my point. Bias happens on both sides.

I'm not saying you're wrong to view things the way you do, I'm just saying that I don't think labour will have a chance of winning an election unless they have a bit of self reflection and up their game rather than like this, blaming media outlets.

I think the media is also pretty toxic across the board to be honest. I would even through the BBC into that these days with some of the content they post.

Its not about reporting it in the way I like, it’s not even about repotting it in a politically biased
fashion, they merely report the news and ask the difficult questions of the Government that
other news agencies constantly shy away from.

They are biased

Can you see Laura Kuensberg saying “fuck the Labour Party” at a right wing youth gathering?

Crick was there for 8 years? He’s a Labour Party activist isn’t he?

There is a reason Channel 4 got blacklisted and ended up with threats of having their license revoked- they asked too many difficult questions.

If you're been totally honest, no way Corbyn would have got off as lightly as either Johnson has on many issues recently.
The PPE, the missed tests, calling the handling of the pandemic a success while numbers were soaring.
He'd have got rinsed, and rightly so.

The press have been frankly embarrassing and as I've said before anyone who cares about a functioning democracy and accountability should be concerned.

If being biased we’re a sport ‘Laura Kuensberg’ would knock Tory Grande
‘Andrew Neil’ Out of the park.
And that’s some swing........

Is she a known Tory member and activist? Like Crick?

Robinson is.

No way you can say with a straight face Corbyn gets the same treatment if he misses target after target and resides over the high death rate.

And if in the midst of all that if a picture one of his side kicks book shelves appeared in the media with a David Irving book on the shelf we all know what the reaction would have been

In the same way you regard the daily mail as right wing propaganda, channel 4 could be regarded as left wing propaganda.

She'd find it difficult to say anything with her tongue up Johnson's arse.
Found it quite odd where he got a soft focus 1hour 1on1 with her before May had gone I think .
Can't recall anyone else getting that kind of plug in recent memory .
She's royalty in the pack these days .
Very hostile towards Corbyn in the early day's .
To the point I think she's had to remake herself as slightly softer when going for the jugular .
She was like a frigin wasp when on his case.

Robinson hasn’t for years. Kuensburg is in my view far more critical of the government than the opposition. Neil is scrupulous in his dealings with anyone

I think Corbyn would have got hammered more, but probably not as much as you think it goes.

As I said, there is media bias, but blaming election defeats and such as down to this is deflection. It's a small slither and an excuse for said party being too weak and not accepting reality.

The result wasn't even close in the end anyway.

It's not that Corbyn wasn't as good as Boris, it was that Boris wasn't as bad as Corbyn.

Didn’t a Daily Mail, that’s Daily Mail, reporter accuse Laura Kuensberg of tweeting anything Cummings told her unedited and unchecked. Basically accused her of failing to do the basic journalism.

yes I saw that I think, was it Peston as well? It became pretty common knowledge that her main source was Cummings, she was getting the piss taken out of her due to the way she stopped referring to her “sources” when Cummings disappeared recently.

Right im sticking my neck on the line and saying i reckon this was the second wave.

The more i read about the COVID positive blood samples from other countries now not just France in December the more i reckon a load have had it and the virus mutated.

Would also explain why football is returning in germany, italy and spain who got smashed just as badly as us getting back to normality also.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist far from it, but wouldn't surprise me if this is also the understanding of governments now this information has come to light.

Even in the U.K through December and January flu deaths were up eightfold and pneumonia deaths 3 times higher than the yearly average. Was just put down to a particularly bad season

No it isn’t ‘it’s pointing out that ‘Lara Kusneberg’ Takes being biased to a new level.
It would be unrealistic ‘even unreasonable to expect political journalists to not harbour
Political beliefs ‘one way or the other’ same as it would be to expect a football referee
To not support a particular team, it shouldn’t matter ‘they should carry out their duties
With honestly and integrity.

you’re not the only saying that, and I don’t see how it’s a conspiracy theory, it seems quite rational to me- we know for sure the virus was in Europe in December, before the Chinese reported their first case. Nobody knows for sure but you may well be right.

But most didn't understand this at the time. It was why I said we should have gone full out to stop it or just let it go on. We ended up not appealing to anyone. We didn't get the.leave or remain vote.
