While I am all for staying lockdown and think they have rushed raising restrictions and please correct me if I am wrong , but has the R number slightly increased because of the care home situation?
They've put up fares, raised the congestion and emissions charges while extending hours and adding weekends, stopped free travel for children and are bringing in charges for over-60s at peak times.Tories have bailed out tfl and tried to blame sadiq Khan and got laughed at by such known socialists as the financial timesk
Weeks of Wittey talking about how important the R number is. R number goes up as many predicted it would and suddenly the government are saying the R isn't important.So. After Boris’ big Sunday address and all the noise he made about the “R” number now it’s already going up in today’s briefing It’s been stated that apparently the “R” number is not the focus. It’s the comparison charts all over again.

But are failing and being laughed at. Khan probably needed to do some of that to keep tfl running but didn't want to for political reasons. They've put up fares, raised the congestion and emissions charges while extending hours and adding weekends, stopped free travel for children and are bringing in charges for over-60s at peak times.
Bizarrely despite all those things being conditions put in place by the government they're trying to blame it on Khan.

They're treating people like complete idiots, sadly there's a lot of people just accepting what they are told.
Got my results today. Tested negative. Well pleased.Got home from work this morning, and started feeling really tight round the chest, and generally unwell. Got my test booked tomorrow morning.

It’ll be which ever ever one suits there position the most,I’ve just had a letter from my lads school saying the prospect of them opening to more children is ALL about the R number. So which is it. Fucking windmilling bastards this lot. And I don’t mean the school.
These people (and some post on here) are so heavily invested in backing what the tories do, and, so as to not lose face I think, they just ignore it or look to excuse it.It's just becoming a joke. How can there be anyone left in the country who can't see they treat people as completely stupid if they put stuff like that out and expect it to be accepted as true?
Case numbers are to R what debt is to deficit. Seems odd to focus on the effect rather than the cause. It's ridiculous. He knows it going back up should lead to reintroducing lockdown but that stops the economy starting again which I imagine a lot of his party are looking for. So got to find a reason to continue on this path.
I've heard it had something to do with the care homes, but it's way too quick to be part of the 'back to work' part. With the time lag it *may* be linked to the May Day bank holiday when a few people got silly and didn't maintain the lockdown rules as well as the could.
So end of the month the relaxing will be apparent in the figures and I think it's going to be very unpleasant reading and another thing to add to the case for incompetence of this government.
Politics seems to have become what team you're on for some. Utterly bonkersThese people (and some post on here) are so heavily invested in backing what the tories do, and, so as to not lose face I think, they just ignore it or look to excuse it.

I wonder what year they plan to bring the quarantine rules in to place?Gje government is now pretending they did not announce an agreement with France that travellers from there would be exempt from quarantine rules.
Government now says no French quarantine exemption

So basically a failure to control transfers from hospitals caused its own pandemic in nursing homes and then as a result of that pandemic patients are having to go into hospitals with Coronavirus for treatment from those nursing homes causing a strain on the NHS.An email went around where my Missus works yesterday basically saying that most cases coming in and being spread in the hospital is from care homes.
They have now changed their procedure that anyone coming in from a care home has to be isolated on their own and then tested. If they test positive they get moved to the COVID ward and if not they have to stay isolated for 14 days and further tests conducted.
A logistical nightmare and extremely drastic measures but shows where they feel the real problem is coming from. Something like 12.5k of COVID deaths have been in care homes.
An utter disgrace.
You forgot the bit where thousands of them are dying as a result but apart from that pretty much spot on.So basically a failure to control transfers from hospitals caused its own pandemic in nursing homes and then as a result of that pandemic patients are having to go into hospitals with Coronavirus for treatment from those nursing homes causing a strain on the NHS.
We really do live in a post-truth society now, they are a disgrace!!
They look like I imagine Coventrian to look like.EDL ends
Already spoke to my youngests school and told them she won’t be going back and the school were almost thankful. No fines being issued or any other actions they’ve assured us. Speaking to friends who have children due back on June 1st that’s pretty much their experience too. I get the impression that schools and parents are just going to defy the government en masse. The R value will increase above 1 in the next week and then will schools will still be set to open on 1 June ?
You bet.
Common sense left the room a few weeks ago .
Was just about to post this. Seems being a populist party is a good ingredient for poor governance.Nicola Sturgeon must prove there was no Covid-19 cover-up – Brian Wilson
So it appears cover-ups, lies and suppression of info. Is not exclusively the preserve of the Tories....
...wee Jimmy krankie has some explaining to do too
They should stick a ring around the attendees and let them stay there
