Of course I can, but as I say we will have to wait on replacements. If we don't get any it is going to be a long hard season. If we do it depends how good and how many. Until we know for sure what squad we have it would be pure speculation

Last season we lost nearly every 1st team player. We replaced them with 2 GK's and an unfit striker that had been playing in Div4.

You are right, nothing to worry about when players are leaving our club

BTW I am not amongst the worried fans.........yet. But I would get the point of the fans that are worried about what is happening at the moment. Once bitten..............

So far we have not got rid of a player I see as important for us next season. That could soon change. Then I would be added to the worried fans that need to see signings.

Sorry Astute but we have so few players that all of them are important to us, sorry to say even the not so good ones

They are only important if we don't replace them. Now with about all the big earners gone there should be a budget to cherry pick out of contract players from Div3 and 4.

I am not saying they will be replaced. Just saying there are no excuses at all this time.

But do you really think they will spend anything on players including just the wages of out of contract players, I don't. Can we still sign players like that with the enbargo in place?

There will be some players coming in, they will be frees and on League 1 wages but the make up of the squad should be strong enough to compete in this league.
Defence is good enough. Midfield players such as mcsheffrey, bell and baker will do much better in this league. We do need 5 players (more if others go) but if we sign a good striker play offs are a possibility.
Yes bury beat us last season and we will lose to some of these sides but over 46 games we should win more than we lose.

I don't slag them off constantly....When they go I will be as pleased as everyone else.

But surely by making your feelings known they may fuck off sooner????

Surely the silent-ones are merely providing SISU with some form of justification.

Have you read the poem written by Pastor Niemoller during the time of the Holocaust? Just google his name.....

I assume you haven't (living in Warwick...:D), so here it is with a CCFC twist;

First they came for the shares,
and I didn't speak out because I didn't have any shares.

Then they came for Iain Dowie,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a fan of Dowie.

Then they came for the Ricoh,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a fan of the Council or John Mutton.

Then they came for my club
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

The squad is just in desperate need of depth-we can keep a core of good enough players but they won't last a 50 odd game season by themselves, especially with youth making up a good proportion of it.

Can't understand the animosity to sisu now. Hofman and elliott are about to be re-appointed. We seem to have multi-billionaire investers in china. We are in a league we can compete in and we hopefully will have a blank canvass to start from once dross that took us down leave the club. .. that is the players. .. once the Wanda group get the councils go ahead to build and own half of coventry I'm sure 40 million of players will blitz league 1.

Got to say though. Talk of playoffs with the crap we have currently got is a joke. We will not make the top 15. If you were sisu you would be doing exactly the same as sisu.

Time to stop playing the blame game and simply let them all get in with it. Don't worry the chinese are coming.

Worst case scenario with new contracts gives us this team:

Murphy
Clarke McPake Wood Hussey
Thomas
Bell Deegan
McSheffrey
ROD McDonald

S: Dunn, Christie, Cameron, Bigi, Baker, Jeffers

Apart from a striker that first team is OK. Just need to add some depth. 3 or 4 loans and a couple of frees and well be alright I think.

Of course if we lose any of the above we'd need to replace them.

I'd like to see this squad by August:

Murphy, Dunn, Burge
Clarke, Christie
NewCB Wood, McPake, Cameron, Willis, Henderson
Loanee, Hussey
NewDM, Thomas
Loanee, NewCM, Deegan, Bell, Bigi
McSheffrey, Baker, Roberts, Ruffles
Loanee McDonald, NewST, Jeffers, Daniels

That's 4 signings, 3 loans and ROD and Keogh out the door. I think that's doable.
Why would you want to get rid of Keogh or is that because you are resigned to his departure?
Add Bell onto the departure list and sign 2 wingers and 1 more striker onto what you already have

Mass Hysteria count down,

Going to do a mass hysteria countdown until August 6th.

At what date does not having the 7-10 suitable replacements required to stay in this division become
sensible fear and not Mass Hysteria?

70 days to go till Kick Off

................................Murphy/Dunn

Clarke/Christie.......... Cameron / Wood................. Hussey / NS
................................McPake (?) Willis

Bell/Baker ................ Deegan/ NS ...........................Sheff/NS
..............................Thomas/Bigi/ NS

So, unless we get bought by a Chinese billionaire who has probably in reality never even heard of CCFC, we will-assuming we hold onto the youngsters-probably have this (I think Wood will go too):

................................Murphy/Dunn

Clarke/Christie.......... Cameron / Henderson............ Hussey /Phillips
.........................................Willis

Bell/Roberts ......... Deegan/ Thomas...........................Sheff/Ruffles
..................................Bigi/ Baker

................................Cody/Jeffers................................
.................................Daniels/Wilson

Cyrus will have to cover CB & LB with Phillips another RB option. Although I still don't think it will be 442-we simply don't have the wide players, and needing right and left-sided options is a luxury we can't afford. Wheras alll of our midfielders can play somewhere in the middle.

Whilst there is some quality left, it's getting thin on the ground, and ultimately it will be the lack of depth-and goals-that kills us. In all likelihood it will have to be Sheff and Cody up front. This is my expected first-choice XI:

......................Murphy
Clarke...Christie or Willis...Cameron...Hussey
.....................Gael
...........Thomas........Deegan
....................Baker
.........McDonald..McSheffrey

It might just be a top 12 side, but with injuries and inexperienced back-up in a man's league, it's more like a bottom 6 squad. We're miles off the likes off Sheff U, and they didn't go up.

Still, ever the deluded, I'm gonna dream of a season of "Mc-Attack!" headlines as they bang in goal after goal. It won't happen, but neither will us signing a chuffing player!

I do agree with you that lack of goals will again be the factor that counts against us. We need 2 or even 3 forwards.

I completely disagree that we are miles behind Sheffield United with out current team, in fact I think we are arguably just as good if not better. Taking the teams as they are now let's have a look

Cov
Murphy
Husssey
Clarke
Cameron
Keogh
Baker
Bell
Deegan
Bigi
Mc Sheffrey
Mc Donald

Subs: Dunn, McPake, Wood, Thomas, O Donovan......plus Christie who I have not put in first 16!

Looking at Sheff Utd' start line up and bench for wembley I would be interested to hear Dongonzales and Non League's explanation as to how there 16 players are "miles ahead" of the 16 above.

I only really saw Stephen Quinn as being someonewho would get into the team above.....and dare I say it maybe Doyler the spoiler! Still be interested to hear other points of view on the "miles ahead" Sheffield 16 at Wembley

any of their strikers would get into our team ,as we only have McDoanld

there is no way we should play mcsheff and mcdonald, that wont work at all

Simonson is better than Murphy

Montgomery would be in our team

Cresswell or Porter would alos feature alongside McDonald

Doyle would be in the team

Matt Hill is a capable defender

not gonna mention Ched Evans obviously

Could go on, but more than happy to bet with anyone that Sheff Utd will be above us next season

So, squad is down to 17 players.

O'Donovan will be gone, and there is a chance that McPake, Wood and Keogh could go

:whistle::whistle:

Disagree with you on quite a lot of your comments,

IMO Murphy better than Simonsen and has international caps to prove it
Montgomery would be nowhere near.....he is nowhere near sheff utd's first team nowadyas when Macdonald is fit
Porter.......give me strenght he is useless......Cresswell hard worker but no goalscorer...... I think sheff and Mcdonald far more potent strrike force than those two
Doyle would get into our team imo as well but a lot of people really hated him when he was with us!
Matt Hill.....is capable defender.....so are you saying that Keogh. Clarke, Hussey, Cameron, Wood & McPake are not??......Hill is average at best?

Come on someone has got to come up with better argument that Sheff Utd are miles better....then to thro Chris Porter into the argument.....dear oh dear!

Well, you must be right on all counts

Well done.

I would suggest you lump on CCFC to win the league at over 20/1 and ignore the 5/1 for Sheff Utd, as the bookies clearly dont have a clue either

well lump on at Betfair then, who are offering 20's.

According to Oddschecker.com we are 119/10 across all declared odds - 4th favourite so bookies believe the squad is play-off material.

don't think I have ever compared our team to sheff utd's. My issue is our squad not our first 11.

It was widely accepted last season we were relegated as our squad was too thin after departures were not adequately replaced. Even SISU who admit nothing held their hands up to this.

I think they were about 4 to 5 players short last season.
Now Platt, Clingan, Cranie Keogh will be added to that list and possibly mcpake. Hence we will need to replace them and the previous lot. So we will need between 7 to 10 New signings to have a squad to stay up next season. If those replacements are good quality then maybe a push for playoffs.

70 days to go to get the 7 to 10 signings.

At the moment we need to get out of the embargo, then convince sisu to spend money on wages. Then convince them they need to do this 7 to 10 times.

It is the last paragraph that causes me concern.

Also on top of this sisu are saying they can't get the budget sorted till they get the rent / share of the stadium sorted and PKWH says this should take about 60 days.

Yes you are right about fatswood. Although he did jack for the team. When the season started he would have been considered a key squad player in the plans.

Well for a start, you didn't read my post properly: I do not believe that Wood, McPake, O'Donovan or Keogh will be here. After those leave, our defence will be kids. We may lose others yet, such as Cody. He's our best striker-and unproven AT L1 level! Cresswell is a better forward than we have, and their entire midfield is better than ours. They also have a better keeper, and miles more depth.

No, the bookies are responding to the fact that the masses still perceive us as a relatively big club at this level. So short odds will avoid them being in a position where they are out of pocket if we do somehow do well. It's deliberate over-pricing. It's the market. That's how it works. You don't really think they base that on how good they think we are?

The problem is, so many people on this board see things in just two shades. If you are not vehemently slagging off SISU at every opportunity then you apparently "love" them or "worship" them.

When they arrived I made the mistake of posting that I'm glad they'd saved us and they'll be good for the club because Joe Elliot has said so. Since then I've been labelled. No, I don't slag them off constantly, I let others do that, but I also recognise that there is no one out there at the moment who seems to be willing to take on CCFC. When they go I will be as pleased as everyone else.

what he said.

Also JWM, would you take read of OSB's latest post in the sisu statement thread. Please take particular interest in the last paragraph.

10 signings in the last week before the season starts, kinda get the feeling that may not happen. Time to be bit concerned, yeah maybe....... Just a little.....

No mass hysteria mate genuine realistic concern. As oppose to burying your head in the sand ignoring the patterns of the past and just saying our first 11 as it stands today is good, so we will be alright.

As oppose to looking at our squad as a whole and what our first 11 will be in a couple of weeks.

Our keeper is nervous on crosses and we are now in a League where the ball is pumped in all game, our defence will be inexperienced and injury prone, our midfield..........Err Deegan, Bell etc, please................ and we have nowt upfront, apart from Cody. Hussey, Clarke, Bell, Baker, Deegan, Sheffers and Cody are all prone to long spells out. By the time SISU have finished tearing things up piece by piece there really will be nothing but the dregs left. Sorry to jab a few with a dose of reality.
