Italy - remember them? They have not recorded this many daily cases for a month. We've gone from two weeks behind to a month behind.

France - over a month since they had this many daily cases.

As we have already established we are not testing more people.

Once again there were only 80k people tested.

Why do you keep repeating this lie? You know it's not true

The deaths trend is flattening as well

Yeah I agree it’s worrying, it’s like we keep falling further behind.... apparently the R is still near 1 so we might have to go back into strict lockdown, it’s painful as it is but going back to square 1 will fuck the country up badly and I don’t think many people will be able to take it

I'm pointing out that the amount of people tested as not gone up.

We have pointed this out to you and yet you still come here every day and post the same false information.

Why do you do this?

What false fucking information, I said we tested more than yesterday which we did? What’s false about that?!?!?

The problem has always been the looser lockdown and it not being strictly enforced, the instance on having VE Day celebrations was just strange. If people care that much celebrate with those in your households but don’t have street parties during a global pandemic

The deaths have halved in 2 weeks mate, it was always going to be slow but let’s hope it keeps coming down on the weekly trends
And probably another 2 weeks to half from there if we were still in a ‘lockdown’ scenario...

The next 2/3 weeks will tell us what effect the relaxation has had.

So above 3000 infections again and over 300 deaths. I wonder if we do a Brazil and take what’s coming

Was that the same week as the press briefing prior to the Sunday speech?
I think it started to break down a week neg on this Friday before .
Been looking on here as I thought I mentioned it , must have been on WhatsApp or somewhere.
3 weeks anyway from my observations round here.

there will be considerable relaxation of lock down restriction in the next 4-6 weeks.
I don't think the numbers will come in to it, they'll make them fit around the policy.

You said it was very negative for those of us to be cautioning against relaxing the restrictions just to copy what other countries were doing. Now it seems that decision will just cost us more time in the long run.

Yeah, it's been decided for economic and political reasons.

I've maintained all along that we've handled it badly. We did a half arsed herd immunity and then a half arsed lockdown.

I don't think many people can say we've come out of this smelling of roses.

My issues surround more the shady behaviour of other countries which include China and Germany.

- China: As I said, I'm not saying it was a man made virus, but I don't believe their figures and I certainly don't believe they tried hard to stop it spreading to the rest of the world. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there are some dodgy goings on. They could have contained it pretty much in their own country.

- Germany: The correlation of deaths to cases is completely off the charts compared to pretty much any other country on the entire planet. Yet they don't seem to have many questions asked.

- Sweden: Behaved worse than we did, but on a global stage get far less stick than we do.

The whole thing is bizarre and you would think there would be some common ground between countries and sharing of information etc. Instead there is all kinds of secrecy and double standards going on. We should have been well prepared for this, and in fact we were well aware of what could happen thanks to other previous virus outbreaks. Just no one reacted. Why?

Are you seriously asking why citizens of the U.K. are complaining about the U.K. government response over the Swedish, German, or Chinese?

We will need to loosen it, we need to learn to live with the virus or else there will be no jobs or money left, we need to find a safe balance

£1,000 fine for visitors from countries with no or barely any infections who don't quarantine, but some of those countries are offering to let us visit
tbf, that's as backwards thinking from their POV as ours is waiting until now to do it.

Dominic lets not run away from answering why you repeatedly say more people are being tested when the dhsc own figures show this is not true

we probably will now. We can't keep the country shut and borrowing for furlough money and hand outs to the self employed.
We blew our chance at emulating what other countries have done. Lets hope for a miracle.

A dangerous second peak would be more economically damaging than extending the restrictions.
